  1. Just about time for the GB women to shock the US and take home gold in the 4x100 isn’t it?
  2. This tends to happen in semi finals. Those at the front are easing down as they know qualification is safe. Only those on the cusp or outside the qualifying spots are going full gas. amazing effort to make the final but will need heroics to haul himself Up into the medals
  3. Yes of Course - some people on here are making ridiculous claims that they were conserving energy because of how Barker finished the race and mistimed the effort at the end. Seriously, for those who don’t follow the sport regularly, hesitate before posting nonsense. madisons are hard to predict, Italy timed their lap gained perfectly and no one followed. If GB attacked like that they would have been marked immediately by the US Kiwis and French among others.
  4. Seriously the misery guts in this forum need a sit down with a therapist. it wasn’t a case of attacking too late; Neah was suffering from doing 2 lap lead out sprints on multiple occasions. Elinor couldn’t have got the lap herself at the end.
  5. It was clear Neah definitely didn’t have the legs. Elinor did.
  6. That’s my highlight of the games. No one could believe the Japanese climber fell just as he approached the gold target hold. Least of all Toby who was agog for want of a better word. sport is amazing sometimes
  7. Predictions for the women’s 4x4 team in the final? Can we change all 4… I’ll go with amber lavaia Vicky and nicole although Hannah Kelly has done her best to be in contention after a sub 51 split today
  8. I’m at the climbing and I must admit the Japanese climber looks different gravy (from my newbie eyes) but the gap is very tight at the top between the first 3 given how the scoring for the lead works. hamish did brilliantly and had many almost moments to have his score right up there with the leaders… tense times
  9. And yes this is precisely why I moaned excessively and loudly on here when Tarling was not included in the track team. It was a decision I really didn’t understand then and still now. good news out of today was the fence by Kate and Kerenza. They should be in contention. looking for a surprise gold medal from somewhere; maybe Hector in the Seine, one of the taekwondo fighters or the men’s 4x4 relay (that would make the games for me if we somehow took down USA)
  10. Thiam still clear favourite for me. 10m plus better thrower in javelin (or more on a good day) and long jumps are basically equal (both SB and PB). The 800m differential for points is always not as vast as you think
  11. 2 taekwondo fighters on their day are very competitive. Oh and I still think neah will be competitive in the women’s omnium plus the relays look very promising across the board and a medal in the 1500 is not out of the question. Amber has a sniff of a minor medal in the 400m too.
  12. No relegations but 2 warnings to Japan and GB for that last sprint
  13. Emma let her out and that was the title gone but still great from the 2 girls to come top 4
  14. Well they missed 2 sprints due to “photo finishes” and then called Thomas out wrongly by deciding to Dq someone else. German rider aggrieved about Viviani as well to no avail. So yes it was a mess but Ethan just decided after one close sprint to control the bunch; by far the strongest legs.
  15. Saving his legs for the points race is my thought here. He wasn’t interested in getting involved in that tempo although rescued a fair position with a sprint at the end
  16. Ethan is a very marked man. Did a load of leg work and still managed to come 2nd in the sprint. I’d say a solid tempo and he could well win the elimination to put him in a good spot for the points race
  17. My feedback from the velodrome: it’s f*ing hot 🤣 let’s go GB!
  18. No reset the final for the fencing. They simply have the bonus round in the final which gives you a limited opportunity to move up. That’s why today was so critical.
  19. Joe is normally at the top after the fencing. He was initially 6 wins out of 7 so I can only assume the injury mentioned above is accurate.
  20. Eeesh forget about what I said about Kerenza 😭😭
  21. Stronger hopes for KB and KF - hope they can fence well enough to be in contention
