  1. Every time we put Kilty in for the relay I raise my eyebrows. Need better foot speed. They are in the bronze fight for sure though!
  2. Tomorrow is a big day: - jade jones - Bradley sinden - Emma in the kite finals - Emma finucane in keirin - Ethan Hayter in Omnium - kjt in heptathlon - pentathlon - very important fencing round - 2 boys in the 3m springboard final - bainbridge in men’s kite semis im still confident tomorrow sees at least 2 golds. With a small chance of a bumper day. Hopefully the mood on the forum will be far more positive in any case.
  3. Neah. And yes she definitely should be in contention for a medal. the men’s Maddison is wide open. GB have a good chance at a medal or even winning; it’s very open. as for the long list of projections above, there are slim chances at golds (KJT - Thiam has quite a buffer over her on recent form) and strong chances (Emma in 2 events; Ethan; women’s kite, Bradley sinden and Jade in TKW (caden and rose have chances too but less strong I’d argue) I think minor medals where a clear favourite has underperformed then I’d accept people moaning. But today, MHS runs a huge European record; and the men’s team pursuit kept a tenth down to a team who smashed the WR for 95% of the race before the mishap. Im still confident we finish above France even though Aussies look out of reach currently. The cyclists will need to clean up what’s left to get us close
  4. Exactly. Can’t have any qualms about that as much as it hurts as a near miss. Men’s relay is going to be fierce.
  5. European record by 3 tenths. Incredible run Matt. Beaten by the 5th best time of all time.
  6. On Neah - she was training at altitude away from the team with a focus on the Madison apparently. the plan was to use Jess Roberts in the TP after Katie went down. so basically as of 2 days ago she is fine but focusing on Madison and then the omnium
  7. Without Katie and Neah this is very impressive. They got so close to the US in a ridiculous time. Well done girls!!
  8. All of the talk from the GB team is how Ethan did an insane turn at the end of 5 laps due to his legs being much better than the rest of the team. bring on the Omnium tomorrow and the Madison.
  9. Honestly the negative comments on here are ridiculous. Agree completely with the above post. I can’t wait to be in the velodrome tomorrow to cheer on Emma and Ethan and the rest of the GB team.
  10. Hayter was locked in todo the Omnium; the Madison pairing was always unknown but it was suspected it would be a true pursuiter and vernon. When Tarling was not picked for the track team I didn’t know which direction they would go. A combo of Wood and Hayter is a bit of a surprise for me given Ethan’s workload. Hope that means he is flying.
  11. This gold was already baked in; men’s team pursuit is big later, I think GB will push the Aussies very hard, and a shock win is definitely possible. Emma looking great for the Keirin and individual sprint too so do try to see the positives. 2 boys into the climbing final; modern pentathlon starting tomorrow and let alone Matt tonight and the relays to come.
  12. Whoever thought this venue was suitable needs to be held to account. How many days of sailing have actually run to schedule due to the conditions?
  13. Begs the question “where is neah evans” great ride from the ladies though
  14. W Omnium will be tough behind Ally W, Koepecke and Valente, although I agree if Neah is in form she can do it. I’m now a bit concerned as Neah is again omitted from the team pursuit lineup for the medal ride vs USA… seems to indicate there is an issue form or injury wise. E Barker would be the best woman up but to break into that top 3 would be a tough assignment.
  15. I will point out a little ray of hope for those saddened by the prospect of us finishing behind the Aussies… and that is if you have written off the men’s team pursuit. Dan Bigham didn’t ride today as still recovering from a crash on Sat. The Aussies will be unchanged, whereas I expect Dan to be subbed in. Charlie Tanfield I think was rested for ride 1 so the team in the final (our best 4) may not have been shown yet. we have 1.4 secs to make up on the Aussies but I don’t think it’s a done deal yet. Fingers crossed the boys can turn them over when it matters
  16. Winning any medal at the Olympics needs to be celebrated, regardless of the disappointment of some near misses. Team GB have been performing extremely well across sports.
  17. He blocked Hoecker once on the behind and then made a choice to drift wide again to block Josh giving up the inside. Petty really but not unexpected, my solace is him finishing 4th
  18. NZ and the USA were always going to be heading up the women’s team pursuit after Katie got injured. we are 2 seconds away without Neah. I’m interested to see if she lines up tomorrow… will need her to get close to the US. Carlin may be in the mix for individual medals and a team sprint medal looks possible now. going to be gold chances in both madisons, men’s omnium, men’s TP, women’s sprint and Keirin.
