Qualification Tracker

Test

  1. I meant adding the results of the top 3 athletes per country after the rounds are done and then give them a medal. Basically new event with no new rounds lol.
  2. Sadly with the idiotic quota cuts this is the way of new events. Make every individual event a team event. Can't wait until we get team events in track and field. 100m team event!! how exciting /sarcasm
  3. The list about event changes not just quotas.
  4. Some of the new events are discussed here: https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1095456/michael-pavitt-if-paris-2024-events-blog Summary (as we know 20 IF's asked for new events) IF's requesting new events: Canoeing (requesting extreme canoe slalom. I would think this means 4 new events) Gymnastics (requesting two new events, parkour for men/women) Handball (requesting beach handball, 8 teams per gender, 128 athletes, lets be realistic, not happening) Modern pentathlon (requesting mixed relay event) Rowing (Coastal rowing, unknown number of events) Sailing (new events, proposal is finalized) Shooting (proposed one new event, think it will be decline because currently there is gender equality) Table tennis (proposed men's and women's doubles, which I hope is declined). Triathlon (proposed one new event, think it will be decline because currently there is gender equality) IF's not requesting events. Archery Equestrian Field hockey Football Tennis Volleyball -One sport is missing Rugby sevens ?? Moved from list below IF's unknown Aquatics - Proposed a lot of events for Tokyo that were declined, perhaps trying again Athletics - I would assume this has to do with the race walks. ITG reports cross-country perhaps Badminton - ?? I would think this has to be a mixed team event, only 9 countries qualified athletes across all events in Rio. However, if they stipulate min 2 men and 2 women, 4 more would qualify. A 12 team tournament seems realistic? Basketball - What else could they want lol?? A dunk contest/skills competition with all athletes open, would be a glorified version of the NBA event. Cycling - ITG reports more "urban events", changes in women's team sprint in track cycling. Could be more events. Fencing - No clue what would be proposed. They have every event they wanted. Perhaps @phelps could clarify. Golf - Perhaps a mixed team competition, which all other MSE events have. Judo - Only thing I can see here is team events per gender, which is ridiculous, but possible. Taekwondo - Mixed team event. I hope the IOC rejects this. Weightlifting - Complete gender equality, what else could they want? They would likely want more events, but that would mean less than 12 per category. With the current situation in the IF, I doubt the IOC would approve of anything. Wrestling - This is likely done to bring more gender equality, as in adding more women's events. Out of all these Rugby sevens is clearly the one that will not request any new events. How could it? Which means all other IF's on this list have requested new events. IF Suspended Boxing

  6. That's how live works
  7. Which is why my calculation had 364 quotas cut, not 116, to account for the new sports in 2024.
  8. IOC says 10,616 quotas among the 28 current sports. Those 300 are perhaps for the new sports? 248 (new sports for 2024) + 116 = 364
  9. Here are my predictions. If I remember correctly they said an event by event review will be underway. I suspect the sports without gender equality will be the hardest hit. I suspect of Aquatics: We will lose Artistic swimming. 24 (teams are now 12) of those quotas will be transferred to water polo to get gender equality. That leaves us with a net total of -80 quotas. If that is the route they are going, swimming will not be touched in terms of quotas. Artistic swimming is arguably the only sport where the medalists can be predicted with 100% confidence. It deserves to go. Athletics: We will likely see an additional women's race walk event, which will get us full parity in terms of events. I think the street events have way too much quotas among them. If we subtract 20 from each and give the new women's event 60, we are left a net reduction of -40. I think an overall reduction of 128 spots is reasonable across the board, in exchange for the extra women's event. Boxing: I suspect a men's event will be dropped, and two women's added. 18 per category on avg per event = 252 quotas, a net reduction of 34. Cycling: Transfer of 9 quotas from road to track to get full gender equality. I would imagine the UCI would be asked to introduce 3 person sprint teams like the men, but if not ready for 2024, they can use the 9 spots elsewhere. That leaves 188 spots for road cycling. I do think the IOC will force the road cycling fields to be equal at 94 each. Which is crazy, I'd suspect the UCI will need to reduce the max per NOC Football: I think the men's tournament should be 12 teams (after all its not a full strength tournament) and match all other team sports on the program. = Net reduction of 72 Golf: This is not the top competition in the sport. Reduction of 54 to each field. Net reduction of 12 Gymnastics:I don't think anything will happen here. Rhythmic gets the women to equal amount of events as the men, and I don't think you can introduce new apparatus for women in artistic. Unlike Artistic swimming, the field is much more competitive. Sailing: The total quota of 350 seems bloated to me. Reduction of 2 boats per event on avg =30 quotas. Tennis: Same story as golf. 82 per gender (basically removing 4 per singles) would do the trick. Net reduction of 8. Wrestling: I really don't know what will happen here. TBH I don't think anything will happen. The IOC has stated they will aim for gender equality where possible. Its just not possible to add women's greco-roman to a games 4 years away. The sport got a quota cut in 2020 and highly doubt it will happen for 2024 too. Coincidentally, the extra 96 spots women get would be offset here by the 96 extra spots the men get in greco-roman wrestling. So by my calculations that would equal a full gender equal games. We need 364 quotas removed among the core sports (and not a lot of IF's getting affected): Aquatics -80 Athletics -128 Boxing -34 Golf -12 Football -72 Sailing -30 Tennis -8 =364
  10. Have heard through the grapevine triple jump may be on the chopping block
  11. Its boxing that is missing. Technically they cannot ask for any changes lol
  12. Athletics and swimming had sharp cuts from Rio to Tokyo. Which team sport can you cut from? Water polo received and fought back.
  13. Per this: https://stillmed.olympic.org/media/Document Library/OlympicOrg/Games/Summer-Games/Games-Tokyo-2020-Olympic-Games/Tokyo-2020-event-programme.pdf#_ga=2.133083277.2096044029.1591722740-1933813303.1588049346 Its 10.616 + the 248 new ones scheduled for Paris. Also they want full gender equality for 2024 "where ever possible". So one would think that team sports would be equal across the board. Water Polo will need to gain 22 quotas or lose 22 (men dropping to 10 teams) and Football needs to gain/lose 4 teams.
  14. Tokyo 2021 has 10,616 quotas among the core sports +248 for the new sports. So among the core spots we are looking at 363 cuts to quotas. Amazing. I would say drop Artistic swimming (-104) an rhythmic gymnastics (96). That still leave 163 spots to cut. THIS IS INSANE. What difference does an extra 200-300 quotas make to a multi billion dollar budget? The pure stupidity of the IOC is just beyond me now.
  15. I bet half of those are to add "mixed events" What a joke this is. At this rate there won't be any universality spots lol
  16. Anyone know of a relay tracker for Tokyo 2021?
