  1. They signed up today lol, after my comment.
  2. https://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/crosscountry/alex-harvey-to-retire-1.5026014 With that goes any hope of Canada doing well in this sport.
  3. @Olympian1010 The USA has not signed up its team for the taekwondo qualification tournament. Today is the deadline (they can still register after today, but would need to pay more $). Any idea if they are going or not?
  4. @vinipereira @mrv86 Anyone understand the poomsae qualification system?
  5. Sounds about right, low quotas and low impact on venue needs. But break dancing
  6. After Day 1 of competition at the Canada Games, 4 provinces on the medal table. Only 2 medal sets were awarded (both in speed skating)
  7. You are correct. There will be 2 groups in the baseball competition; the format hasn't been used since Rio 2007
  8. Nunavut wins its first ever match at the Scotties https://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/curling/scotties-2019-sat-feb-16-results-1.5022793
  9. Canada in theory will send its A team in track and field, but at the end of the day its up to each individual athlete if they want to go (not sure many will pick Pan Am over Diamond League)
  10. So has entered athletes into the taekwondo qualification tournament. I wonder if this is a mistake or are they being allowed to compete?
  11. https://www.fis-ski.com/en/international-ski-federation/news-multimedia/news/fis-alpine-junior-world-championships-to-begin-in-val-di-fassa-ita Who writes releases for the FIS? Besides the grammatical errors, spacing issues and contradicting info (says 54 countries competing in the first paragraph, and later says 56, so which one is it?), the article lists "Taiwan". If the Chinese Taipei delegation sees that, there will be a huge problem (trust me, I have first hand experience with that lol).
  12. Just came across this: Canada's last boxing medalist (from Atlanta 1996) David Defiagbon died in November.
  13. Countries by team sport 16 15 14 10 10 10 9 8 4 4 3 3 3 3 2 2 2 2 1 1 1 *21 Countries have qualified a team; just over half of the participating countries. *Note I did not include 3x3 basketball *Spots left to be filled: One team from CONCACAF in the men's and women's competition. Handball has one spot to be filed in each event. Rugby sevens needs to fill one per gender from South America. In volleyball, 3 spots left to be filled, 2 in men and one in women's. 9 team spots left to be qualified.
  14. The Canada games acts as a springgboard to the bigger things... A lot of Canada's stars competed there.
  15. Sad, hopefully the situation improves for Croatia. Still remember watching Janica Kostelic dominate in 2002!
  16. Did Croatia decide not to send a second woman or they aren't good enough?
  17. Were they complaining when Russians got caught for doping ?
  18. Badminton update Hopefully hangs on for the 4 quotas.
