  2. Beijing 2022 Provisional Quotas after 3/4 World Cup Events M 5000m Relay: Canada China Hungary Italy Japan Netherlands ROC South Korea M Individual Quotas (one short of 56): x5: , , , (+1), (+2), , , x3: , (+1) x2: (-2), (+2), x1: , , Dropped Out: (-1), (-2), (-1), (-1) W 3000m Relay: Canada China France Italy Netherlands ROC South Korea United States W Individual Quotas x5: , , , , , , x4: (+2) x3: (-1), x2: (+1), , , x1: , , Dropped Out: (-1) Mixed 2000m Relay Canada China France Great Britain Hungary Italy Japan Kazakhstan Netherlands ROC South Korea United States Not a great World Cup for smaller short track nations. 4 nations lost quotas on the men's side and one on the women's side and Austria, Croatia and Turkey are no longer have any qualified athletes. No other nations's gained quotas and the extra quotas instead went to the bigger nations. Even after adding 5 quotas to all the relay teams, it still isn't enough to get to 56 on the men's side. Great Britain is the biggest winner as it gained 2 men's and one women's quota and now has a mixed relay qualified though the 2nd women's quota is definitely not secure. The final World Cup stop is this weekend and there's a good chance there'll be a lot of changes since the worst result gets dropped from the rankings. Hopefully some more nations will be able to qualify. Also on another note, does anybody know what's up with the wikipedia page about the qualification? Their rankings are completely different from the ISU website.

  3. Congratulations @Hipooo Thank you @Dnl for all of your hard work! Also thank you to everyone who voted for Greece and gave us 48 points! Unfortunately we finished in 29th place, although I am not surprised and personally I would not have given our song any points. We are one of the 15 countries that never missed a version of the song contests, however we are the only ones who never finished top 10. I hope this will change soon. I already have song ideas for both contests in 2022. Here are my personal votes (vs how many points Greece gave to them) 12 points- (11) 11- (12) 10- (4) 9- (8) 8- (0) 7- (2) 6- (5) 5- (6) 4- (0) 3- (7) 2- (0) 1- (0) Canada and Sweden were by far my favourites. Those two and USA were the only ones I knew before this contest, although Czech Republic also sounded familiar. Canada @intoronto I always liked, although I knew the modern version from the movie "Cars" and did not know about this earlier version, and Sweden @Belle was a song that I enjoyed a lot during my teenage years and always gives me good/happy memories when I hear it.

  5. The only things i want to say is: thanks to @Dnl @Wumo and @OlympicIRL for the organization and suport of a new contest. It was the 70s birthday of Charlie Garcia, the singer, few days after i choose his song, one of his better songs and a real clasic of the argentinian rock, i was confident for a top ten (11 was the better position in this contest, it was close) but is not with the average music taste of the jurys. Thanks to everyone for make this contest great year after year.

  8. OUT OF TOPIC Včera na Totallympics International Song Contest 2021 se České republice povedla věc naprosto nevídaná.

  9. Googled the Italians and this must be the only sport where they go from trash singing/dancing reality tv shows to (try to) become an Olympian. Usually it's the other way around, first they become Olympians and then cash in by making appeareances in reality shows.

  10. Correct 💪💪💪. Czech fans are actually Czechoslovak fans. And they way the national teams help each other is really great. Not only in alpine skiing but for example also short track🙂

  11. I really shouldn't need to explain this. More famous doesn't equal better, yes, they may be more critically acclaimed, but that does not mean that their music is better only because they have more views on Youtube. Also, in the modern age of this industry, we tend to imagine that we as people are responsible for who gets famous, but there are so many games behind the scenes that nobody becomes famous without a reason, especially when we're talking mainstream fame. And no, I'm not only talking about the games that labels play - buying spots on the radio, having a different platform where they can pitch music to Spotify, millions upon millions of dollars in marketing, venue placement and all that good shit, I'm also talking about Spotify and Youtube algorhythms that work for people who are already ahead, not for emerging artists, and especially not for artists that are not coming from a country that's a major player in the music soundscape. Basically, more and more nowadays you're listening to what's put in front of you, and rarely do you look for ways to seek out music on your own, this was made apparent by Spotify and how people consume music through playlists and are not even listening to full albums most of the time. Artists like Avicii don't come out of nowhere, artists nowadays are massively produced and the labels paint a pretty picture to make you think they're hot and up and coming, but everything is planned out years in advance. You could see that by looking at credits and seeing what songwriters wrote songs for who and then went on to become famous artists themselves after years of grind in the industry making connections, oooor another good example would be a huge super star Taylor Swift having a huge tour and who is warming up the stage for her? Shawn Mendes, Troye Sivan, Fifth Harmony that were put there by their labels and are now all huge artists. Lenny never had the chance to become more famous than Avicii, does that mean that she should automatically lose to him? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

  26. 84 countries have qualified so far. With 4 more in qualification position: and which brings it up to 88. Here are countries trying to qualify, especially in light of the rule change in Alpine skiing, no worlds championships requirements anymore. has one alpine skier aiming for qualification has one alpine skier aiming for qualification, just needs two more races under 160 points to qualify. has one alpine skier aiming for qualification, last race saw him finish just higher than 160, so perhaps its possible skier is training to comeback for Beijing, should easily qualify if he gets five races under 160. Other countries with alpine skiers trying to qualify, but a long shot to qualify atm: is also one spot out of qualification in women's skeleton.

  27. It's so strange to see that only 15 nations competed in each edition, yet at every contest we have +30 nations Btw. Congrats Czech Republic and @Hipooo for winning New Zealand and @Wanderer for second place and Sweden @Belle for another good (please don't leave the contest), this time third place. It's very rare, if not first time ever that all top3 finishers received points from me Also congrars @Dnl for finishing the contest, as a previous host, I know how difficult and time consuming is this and work in real life could be problem in hosting and running this event. And also thanks everyone who voted for Polish song, yet 16th place isn't what I expected after selecting this song. To be honest I already have selected song for Annual Contest 2022 but I will reconsider it if I should choose this song and changing for an song in English......

  31. Congratulations to @Hipooo and Czech Republic for their deserved win. Tough luck for @Wanderer and New Zealand, but both countries offered us an exciting battle, so congratulations to them as well. A big thank you to @Dnl for hosting, in the end it was an amazing contest, despite all the difficulties that occured. A big thank you to everyone who voted our song, I'm glad you liked it. I can't say I'm surprised by our 29th place finish, it is more or less what I expected. I mean that, after listening all the songs and judging objectively, I would put our song somewhere around 30th place. Now, time to reveal how I voted. 1. Ireland 2. France 3. Poland 4. Croatia 5. Ukraine 6. Germany 7. Czech Republic 8. Canada 9. Moldova 10. New Zealand 11. Brazil 12. Argentina Some interesting notes. I voted for both Czech Republic and New Zealand, though I didn't rank them as high as they finished. None of the two made Greece's combined top 12. Same for France, who received 11 points from me, but were left out from our combined top 12. I didn't give any points to 7 of 12 countries that made our combined top 12, including Sweden, who got our 12 points. However, all my top 5 songs were in the combined top 12, except France. From the five countries I voted and made Greece's combined top 12, we gave the most points to Canada, who in my ranking, was the lowest ranked of that five countries.

  32. She was Petra Vlhová neighbor during childhood, she lived (actually I think still reside) in the next side-block of Petra was living. They visited the same school etc..etc... She has Czech father and slovak mother (sadly pased away last year) born in Czech Třinec but lived almost all her life and learned to ski in Slovak Liptovský Mikuláš. but since she used to attend slovak schools, she speak Slovak language, At her 16 (if I am not wrong) she decided to represent Czechia, mainly because of issues with the stupid leadership in our nowadays thankfully former federation at that time. Btw when Petra finish her 1st run she always inform Martina about the track, Same in opposite way happen in 2nd runs. Another prove of Czechoslovak unity.

  33. Congratulations @Hipooo! I'm very happy for you and I'm looking forward to see what you prepare for the next year. As I said when I was giving the points, big thanks to @Dnlfor hosting this edition. Personally, after 2 very bad editions, I am very happy to tie my personal record again with this 6th place, but this time beating my previous point record (118 from my 1st participation in Open 2019), which is even better. Big thanks to all the juries from 19 countries who have given points to "La Oreja de Van Gogh": @kungshamra71(2nd time in 5 editions that I got a gold medal. I'm glad that the song brought you memories! I liked the Portuguese song too and in fact i added it to my main playlist ) @Hipooo @catgamer @Damian(I think that your song deserved better. I regret not giving it a few points) @Belle @IoNuTzZ @Ionoutz24 @NikolaB(Serbia is the only country giving Spain at least 1 point for the last 5 editions, so thanks for that ) @Griff88 @Gianlu33@Henry_Leon @Pablita @SteveParker (I don't know who voted for my song this time, but thank you all. I'm really glad you picked Franco Battiato this year, he was relatively popular in Spain and I felt sorry when I heard he died). @hckošice @dophuquy @Vic Liu @Federer91 @Benolympique @Bohemia @EupenM @Laraja @LuizGuilherme@titicow (I don't know who voted for my song this time, but thank you all) @Glen @heywoodu @intoronto It was also the first time (at leats since I'm participating) that Canada, Czech Republic, Sweden, Colombia, Vietnam and Romania gave points to Spain. This means that Greece, Hungary and the US are the only countries who have never awarded us a single point.

  36. Bruh, Sweden has won before. It would be unfair if Sweden won just for sending Avicii. This is not a name recognision contest, it's a song contest. Third place is huge, learn to be happy for others and by saying this you're also disregarding everyone that voted for your song and there were many many gold medals as well.
