  1. and finally, Arianna Errigo is back to full success... hopefully, it's a sign of renaissance and she doesn't mess up with her fragile mind when the season comes to the crucial moments... however, as I wrote before, this is definitely not a good day for our fencing...too many flops compared to the only (usual) event where we always come up with something, even in our worst days...

  4. Brazilians will apparently ship five horses to Moscow for next week's CDI3*. Transporting horses from Western Europe to Moscow is pretty much a logistical nightmare. Usually they end up being on Belarussian border for like 12+ hours alone. That's why you very rarely see non-ex-Soviets competing there, but indeed these are exceptional circumstances for Team Brazil...

  7. New update on olympic racing of Skateboarding after Oi Stu Open in Rio de Janeiro. It's unbelievable the incapacity of WS to provide a decent World Ranking. Another time they changed the points earned for some skaters in past events. For example, Yuzuki Mizote got 268 points in the first competition(They released the first WR with this pontuation). Now, in the new update from WS, she has 269 points(She hasn't participated in any other event since then). Ok, it's only one point, but this could not happen from an official federation. Who knows if this miserable point may be the difference between get in or get out of the olympics? For some reason, WS is not counting the points earned on European Street Championships, even it being an Olympic qualifying event. Another mistake is the duplicity of skateboarders. They are not careful with the athlete names. Another example, Ariadne Souza and Ariandne Silveira are listed on WR, but they are the same person (I've already alerted them about the mistake with the Skateboarder Greg Ruhoff, and It seems they've repaired this.) Here it's my new update of the qualified skateboarders so far, based on the last released from WS.(That's counting the points from ESC, because of that, the ranking may have a few mistakes in Street Competition) Skate Park and Street - Oi Stu Open.xlsx

  8. Yeah, ten Asian nations have already qualified. In terms of tripartite nations I would say and have better chances, but it would be nice to see them qualify in their national sport. The favourites seem to be three of but in archery anything could happen, the three previously mentioned tripartite nations plus could pull off the upset.

  9. When I turned 5 my mom chose Flamengo as the theme for my birthday party. Since then, I've been wondering why the club was so popular because it did nothing to really be relevant in the last 30 years (besides winning state and national tournaments, which I find extremely boring). Now things will finally be interesting for me.

  11. The number of athletes trying to qualify is a lot larger than the number of athletes trying to win a medal. So I can see there being more pressure for officials to do shady stuff.

  12. Probably yes. He is also trying to be sneaky though. Given the specific situation, he can both underscore and overscore his targets, and thus make himself look clean - even if the outcome of such judging doesn't make sense. This may sound paranoid, but I'm quite sure about it. Yesterday 4/5 judges had Senhorini as the best Brazilian. And that made sense, since Senhorini performed a relatively clean test, while the other two had big errors for which they fully deserved low 60s... And Saleh? He put Senhorini way behind both Almeida and Oliva... But then again, I always felt like the Olympic qualifications bring the worst in the officials, in all kinds of sports. Much more so than Olympics themselves.

  17. Yeah those are hopeful videos, somewhat (you know, it'd be more hopeful if situations like this didn't exist in the first place). Sadly most of the times one sees a 'confrontation' video like this here, it's sort of the opposite. Well, partially, the one thing that is the same is the 'aggressive' person is generally hateful towards Jews as well*, like this guy. *but also towards Christians, or atheists

  22. I couldn't watch the race. Could someone please tell me what Peťa looked like during the race, I mean, yes I know the result, she was leading after run 1 apparently and crashed in the upper part of the run 2, but I am asking about the feeling from her overall style and look. was it better than in Soelden ?

  23. There's a lot of push back between the sport federations and South Africa's Olympic Committee over accepting/declining the quotas. I imagine the field hockey federation used FIH's top 20 rule as a way to show that their team had sufficient strength to compete.

  28. Also shouldn't South Korea face Singapore? They were the second best team while Singapore should be the seventh placed team. Unless they ignore wins/points and only went with point differential.

  29. Didn't think Afghanistan had it in them. Chinese Taipei is arguably the second weakest entrant (maybe Singapore), but I thought Afghanistan would be clearly weaker than everyone.

Yes I saw his results, can't watch anything though because of the internet situation here. but his coach is claiming he wasn't ready because he was worried about people in his "home country" !! so far all his defeats were intentional, now this is a new excuse. I wonder what they will make up next time he losses. I was a bit lazy (or not interested) to write more about him but more came out in past couple of weeks about him. the chat archive of him and one of IJF officials. he was planning for it for a long time.

    Judo IJF World Tour 2019

Grand Slam (Abu Dhabi, UAE) Day #1 Recap First day of action in Abu Dhabi with many important names at the start and some surprising results... 5 weight classes were on the mat today and 5 different Nations won the available Gold Medals, with Italy topping the provisional Medal Table thanks to Manuel Lombardo's success in the men's -66kg class and to the Silver Medal won by Odette Giuffrida in the women's -52kg class, where we had a very tough final between the Italian and the eventual winner Majlinda Kelmendi, who needed 8 minutes and 40 seconds to find the way to beat her opponent (after getting 2 shido in the regulation time and being highly at risk of taking also the 3rd sanction more than once)... the remaining Gold Medals went to Gusman Kyrgyzbayev (men's -60kg), Daria Bilodid (women's -48kg) and Kim Jin A (women's -57kg) Full Results, here: http://www.ippon.org/gs_uae2019.php
