Remember Huang Yu Lin, the roller skating guy from who famously won Asian Games gold after taking over his opponent who celebrated prematurely? Yesterday he lost in National Games of Taiwan with the same method

  2. Sat Day 8 03.08 118. ARCHERY - W Individual 1. Alejandra Valencia MEX 2. Kang Chae-young KOR 3. An San KOR CZE world champion loses in 1/32 round this time. 119. ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS - M Floor 1. Carlos Yulo PHI 2. Artem Dolgopyat ISR 3. Kazuki Minami JPN A lot of mistakes made by other finalists (including a relatively small one by Dolgopyat) leaves space for Yulo here. 120. Great Britain Femke Bol doesn't hit the floor this time. 126. ATHLETICS - W 100m 1. Shericka Jackson JAM 2. Sha'Carri Richardson USA 3. Marie-Josee Ta Lou CIV First great controversy of the games. Jackson and Richardson finish with the same time. Jackson announced as a winner but Team USA make a protest because photo-finish shows a gap so small (or no gap at all as NBC says) that Phelps vs Cavic one can be considered as extremely large. Protest unsuccessfull though. US Team gets mad. Mr. Bach speaks some stupid words at press conference. Richardson crying a lot but finally says - see you at 200 and then we will destroy Jamaica in the relay. Ewa Swoboda smoothly in a final this time, no unnecessary semi-final drama. And then 7th with nice PB. Ta Lou eventually gets her ind medal partly due to JAM controversial false-start in the semis. Uff... 127. ATHLETICS - M Decathlon 1. Leo Neugebauer GER 2. 13. Previously Ireland have choked, or just not been good enough. This was nothing of the sort. This was two great teams of the four great teams currently in existence taking absolute lumps out of each other - Ireland going 13 down early and punching their way back, All blacks surviving 20 mins wth 14 men - in the end, a brilliant J Barrett hold up and the astonishing discipline of the NZ defence in the last phase - not sure any other team could have beaten Ireland today, not sure the All blacks could have been pushed harder than they were today - they were pretty much the top of their Game and still just about clinging on in the last phases i wasn't an unreachable black will, Ireland nearly made it through 3 times, but NZL found a way to hold the line. This'll haunt Ireland, but we didn't die wondering - it's no fluke, we are in this league, but well done All Blacks. This match was not quite as ;seismic; as the RSA match, which was frighteningly violent, but in another way it was equally astonishing. The standards in the World Cup generally are easily the greatest they've ever been - and i could probably watch any match featuring a combination of Ireland, France, New Zealand And South Africa all day at the moment.

  14. Here's the direct Olympic qualification schedule. Overall up to 71 events will offer direct quotas to the Olympics (in archery, diving & tennis it depends on the results). I did not include trampoline since I am 99% sure we will qualify someone and thus the quota will be voided. 18. Cricket fans love citing Netherlands as a competitive nation, but I’m not sure they’ve played a competitive game yet at the current ICC World Cup. They haven’t faired much better in baseball, but the sport is almost certainly more global, even if it too is limited to a few hot spots.

  21. No shame for you guys, you played who is in front of you. Just the stupid draw system. I really hope they change it next time and not make the draw 3 years in advance when the order of world rugby could completely change in that period. I feel so bad for Scotland too as they are a million miles better than England, Wales or Fiji.

  28. yeah, but I wasn't talking specifically of the round of #16 matches (even if I think that Menegatti/Gottardi should have won easily vs Clancy/Mariafe...the men killed themselves with the pools results and the consequential bad draw in the knockout stage*), it's more a general thought...it's since Rio 2016 that our pairs aren't performing well in the world champs as they often do in the world tour tournaments *Nicolai/Cottafava also wasted the chance to beat the worst version of Mol/Sorum ever, tbh...if they didn't get a W this time, they will never do it
