  1. Yeah, the website was down yesterday for most of the users because of an issue with the "registrar". We needed to confirm the identity of the owner but the e-mail connected to the account was from the old webmaster and I had to wait they confirmed the new e-mail which took a while. Some connections were working normally, and some are still unable to access now, but in a few hours everything should be fine. Sorry for that, but better now than during the Olympics

  12. Wow this is quite unexpected. I was not even hoping to get a quota here. Though in the last Asian qualifier, she was just a match short from qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics. She’s not actually our first ever fencer to compete in the Olympics, the last time PHI had a fencer qualify was 32yrs ago, ‘92 Barcelona

  22. According to one of our sports media, the reason for Bosniuk's sudden disappearing from the Olympic ranking is due to a breach of game manipulation. In other other words, match-fixing. "BWF can confirm that Danylo Bosniuk of Ukraine has been provisionally suspended under BWF rules in relation to potential breaches of the Competition Manipulation Prevention Code. As this is an ongoing investigation, it will not be commented on further, the association writes to TV 2 Sport. According to TV 2 Sports' information, it is not directly about match-fixing in the form of betting on own his matches, but that Bosniuk has generally played on badminton matches, which is strictly prohibited". 31. The general tendency is that the IOC reduces the number of quotas + introduces some additional preferences for weaker continents and countries. The result is that there are disciplines in which it is more difficult for a European country to qualify for the Olympics than to win a medal. To me this is absurd. I understand the promotion of sports around the world, but then let's just increase the number of quotas in most sports and, for example, throw out weird things like break dancing, surfing, etc.

  32. Apologies in advance to all fencing aficionados and no disrespect intended to the sport itself, but this morning is the first time I've ever delved deeply into the qualification system for the Olympics, and it is surely one of the more insane systems of qualifications out there.

Excluding Hong Kong, it just gave quotas to big countries. If it wasnt there, Peru or Singapore would qualify boats. An those are countries, in my opinion, much more worthy of a Developing Nations than Japan or Switzerland.

  38. Looking at the qualification doc - https://stillmed.olympics.com/media/Documents/Olympic-Games/Paris-2024/Paris2024-QS-Canoe-Slalom.pdf point B.2.3 says that "the athlete must compete in the event that the NOC received their qualification quota". So to me, that reads that unless a country gets a direct quota in the KX at the qualifier (there are 3 spots each for men and women), they have to be selected and take part in either the K or C. And then, if selected in one of those, they can take part in the KX as well. They can't just take part in the KX without being selected in one of the others. And if they are selected in one of the others, that would prevent a second competitor from that NOC being in that event obviously. So the only way that someone could be in the KX but not the others would be if they got a direct KX quota spot. I could be reading that wrong, however. It's not clear.

  39. I'm sorry but this is going out of hand. If you have two athletes as strong as the greeks, is yours federations blame only for not being able to rise a third athlete with a decent level enough to figth for the team quota. Asking for a wildcard is absurd. One is in, the other one is out. They had three years to read the qualification process.

  40. Yes but Italy is guaranteed to win the quota by ranking in case someone else gets the European quota. So, one way or another, Italy will have 2 men and therefore 2 teams.
