I haven’t seen any of the coverage but I can only imagine it is a very good thing if swimmers are being held to account on their technique. If they performed an illegal turn then absolutely DQ them. They will learn to adjust their technique quick enough ;)

:IRL Daniel Wiffen just smashed the oldest world record in the books (SC or LC) winning gold in the men’s 800m freestyle

An impressive triple gold for Wiffen here (400/800/1500m free) and wonderful to see his twin Nathan join him in the finals too  :)

That is just an absurd take. They usually celebrate him. On SwimSwam there is some bias against swimmers from Australia/Russia/China, but not against Ceccon or italian swimmers in general. At the end of 2022 Ceccon was ranked 4th in their top 100 for 2023 (behind Milak, Marchand and Popovici) and some were arguing that he should have placed even higher.

https://swimswam.com/swimswams-top-100-for-2023-mens-10-1/

not the Italian swimmers at all, only Ceccon

in the past they heavily criticized him for meaningless things (and I'm not a fan of him as a character, I must admit)

p.s. I'm not talking of not recognizing his achievements, it's more about his attitude and not being the nicest guy on poolside

This WR has been on notice for a while now and I'm glad someone has finally done it even if I'm a little sad to see Hackett lose his last WR. I think it'll probably go down again in the near future.
