  1. Erika Miranda (Judo), 6-time world medalist, announced her retirement today. She won a medal at each of the last 5 World Championships, including the only brazilian medal at this year's Worlds, and she was in good position to compete in Tokyo, so this is kind of a huge surprise. Health concerns might have motivated the decision.
  2. Medals 3 (bronze in Taekwondo) and 4 (silver in Swimming) almost at the same time for 2 silver and 2 bronze now - one colour is missing
  3. Second medal for Bronze in Judo
  4. Unfortunately this elections unvealed the worst prejudices in brazilian society. People are now chanting in the metro things like "Hey faggots, be aware, Bolsonaro will kill you" like is the most normal thing in the world. If people wanted to elect a conservative, they had plenty of options like Alckmin or Amoedo, but they went straight to the far-right candidate, even though he's a very incompetent politician (27 years in congress and only 3 projects approved). I have no hope for this country anymore and zero patience for people who support him.
  5. It's probably the same rule of the previous YOG. A gymnast MUST compete in all apparatus in order to qualify for any final. So if your gymnast somehow doesn't start in one of the other apparatus, he won't qualify for the final in Pommel Horse. Crazy, I know...
  6. Once again I'm glad to live in the Northeast region. São Paulo and Rio elect the worst politicians possible.
  7. What I meant is that Trump never went AS FAR as Bozo in his comments. Some of Bozo's comments on record: "The mistake of the dictatorship was to torture and not kill." "Pinochet should have killed more people." "I would be incapable of loving a homosexual child. I prefer that my son die in an accident" "I won't rape you because you don't deserve it." (to a female politician) "I don't have this risk, my children were very well educated" (about what would he do if his son dated a black woman) "I won't fight or discriminate, but if I see two men kissing in the street, I'll knock them." "Women should earn less because they get pregnant" "(if) the son starts to act like that, a little bit gay, a spank changes his behavior." "I went in a quilombo. The lightest afro-descendant there weighed seven arrobas [a measurement used to weigh cattle]. Not even for procreate he's good anymore." Should I continue?
  8. I agree 100%. I think Brazil won a medal at YOG and I didn't even care. It's also disheartening to see many athletes supporting him when he promised to eliminate the Ministry of Sports. The only positive thing about this election: knowing about people that supported him and exclude them from my life (granted, there wasn't that many). Thank lord fascism still isn't that strong where I live.
  9. Trump is a very reasonable person compared to him, and Trump never went too far in his comments.
  10. With over 80% of votes counted I *think* we'll have a second round but it doesn't matter. Just give the win to Bozo already and spare us of three more weeks.
  11. Bolsonaro expected to win in first round. We're doomed.
  12. What a bad tournament for Turkey! And suddenly things are looking quite good for Russia.
  13. The torch is good, the flame didn't extinguish even with all the wind
  14. This seems to be a great live experience, but in TV it doesn't look so great as one would hope.
  15. The whole thing is supposed to be under 2 hours, which would also be the quickest opening ceremony?
  16. Now the flag parade

  18. Well, I don't think many brazilians follow this forum anyway, so I can share (also, Im pretty sure the brazilians here also don't like the leading candidate)
  19. I'm voting for Ciro Gomes, I like him and I think he's the only candidate who can stop he who must not be named (at least according to polls).
  20. At least they're not extremists - and I hate Temer and won't vote for Haddad unless he's up against Bonosaur.
