  1. The video can't be showed in my region, but Win Sports is also streaming: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9qWcKmyv7I
  2. Probably they couldn't arrive on time? But unlike 3x3 (which was simply given a walkover), the Handball match is currently rescheduled for July 30th - probably because this tournament will qualify for the Pan American Games and it would be terrible to lose a match for a reason like that...
  3. Joanna Maranhão (Swimming) announced her retirement today. Probably our best female pool swimmer, she finished 5th in 400m individual medley in Athens 2004, the best placement obtained by a Brazilian woman swimmer at all times. Having won multiple Pan and South American Games medals (+ participation in 4 Olympic Games), she is also known for her social work, having inspired a law (against child sexual assault) with her name in Brazil.
  4. A new host with only one year to go I hope everything turns out okay.
  5. I don't know if this was commented here before, but the schedule indicates that we will have a new format in Basketball. Preliminary round goes from July 26th to August 3rd (9 days), with 4 matches per day all in the same arena. That would indicate 3 groups of 4 teams for each tournament, instead of the usual 2 groups of 6. If this happens, I wonder if they will use the same system of Women's Football with the two best 3rd placed teams qualifying to the quarterfinals
  6. Updated with Field Hockey quotas + Modern Pentathlon (each nation competing at Central American and Caribbean Games qualified one athlete per individual event) + Women's Handball +14 +14 +14
  7. I think a playoff will be necessary between Canada and Brazil for the last spot. Of course Canada will win like 10-0, but technically they're not qualified yet

  9. https://www.usada.org/jack-casey-accepts-doping-sanction/ I think it is the 5th case for american swimmers in less than a year.
  10. Ricardinho (Volleyball), considered one of the best setters of all time, has announced his retirement last week. Among the titles, he was Olympic champion in 2004 (+silver in 2012) and world champion in 2002 and 2006.

  13. Another kinda surprising result was Colombia being eliminated in women's football (and last in their group). I thought they could win the whole thing. Really bad year for this team.

  19. It would be great if the idea of these Games could be revived at the near future, and I don't think the costs would be that higher if they pick existing venues in Canada or USA.
  20. I know @heywoodu was joking, but he made me remember that once we had a Winter Pan American Games in 1990. But of course USA and Canada won all the medals and the idea has not been revived since - there was only 1 sport anyway (alpine skiing) I wonder if today participation would increase and maybe Brazil could win a medal at something (at least Mexico or Colombia would probably win a bronze medal in Ice Hockey considering a participation of Canada and USA with some Z teams)
  21. I was gonna do a "hips don't lie" joke, but... nevermind. She's great.
  22. Okay, this segment is REALLY similar to Rio's "different tribes" portion. I think there is cleary some inspiration going on here.
