  1. At first, I think she had. Then a few moments later... she was a MESS.
  2. Yes, but I never thought someone like Ostapenko could win many titles after RG (no offence to her). With Osaka I really think this could be different.
  3. Agreed, but how convenient is to forget how maybe she inspires many people with her actual talent...
  4. Glad Osaka won, and unlike many of the talents that won GS titles in the last few years, I think she has the potential to win many many more.
  5. Her behaviour was unacceptable today, but this? Nah...

  8. But why this happens so many times with some many competitors? It's an error by the organizers or the iranians who submit the names?
  9. But I don't think that was the problem here. I seriously think that they thought they would qualify even sending a subpar team (exactly like they did with the women's team). But even Argentina and Brazil young teams are better than the one they sent.
  10. Mexico won the 5th place match, which means that either Canada or USA won't qualify for Lima.
  11. Volleyball will have a big coverage for sure, Peru loves this sport. On the other hand, I remember Handball wasn't broadcast in Toronto (except for the argentine channel), and I fear the same next year, even though this is a qualification event for Tokyo.
  12. Semifinals: vs vs All 4 are qualified to the 2019 Pan American Games. Canada and Mexico will fight for the last spot here.
  13. Same with Brazil. Our senior women's team is very good, but I don't even know if we have an active youth team - even the qualification was achieved by the senior team, which is really strange but just shows the lack of competitions for youth teams in women's futsal. It's a little mind boggling that FIFA doesn't really shows many interest in women's futsal, but hopefully that is changing.
  14. I think many teams are here with youth or B/C teams? I don't see the point of hosting this right before the World Championship, it should be much earlier like the women's tournament.
  15. Updating with missing quotas from Central American and Caribbean Games. Artistic Swimming +9 +9 +9 +2 +2 Wrestling +5 +4 +3 +2 +2 +1 +1
  16. It's a little ambiguous, but this article from FIFA website basically says that a nation has to pick Men's or Women's in Futsal. For instance here: "Iran decided to play the Men's Tournament, and Japan accepted. Thailand ended up third and were the next eligible team." https://www.fifa.com/womensyoutholympic/teams/eligible/index.html So my guess is that Brazil and Iran weren't allowed to enter both teams.
  17. Top 5 teams will qualify for the 2019 Pan American Games.

  19. Also no PDF files? Basically nothing can be copied in a easy way from that website
  20. In addition to all the things already explained, brazilian Handball also lost the sponsorship of Banco do Brasil, which was HUGE. Even though the bank didn't said it, it was pretty clear that this cut was because of the corrupt handball federation. The sport still is receiving money from other sources, but will have to be more careful with its expenses from now on
  21. Today Brazil and USA women's teams returned to the Maracanazinho Arena for a friendly match. Not the best memories for both teams considering that exactly 2 years ago USA lost the Rio 2016 semifinal there (and Brazil lost that quarterfinal match two days earlier). Anyway, Brazil lost ALL 4 friendly matches against USA this week, not a good sign for the coming World Championship... The best part was a tribute to the 2008 Olympic champion team, with many of the players from that gold generation. Today, only Thaísa remains playing for Brazil (she isn't in the picture because she was preparing for the match today), even though some of them are still active in their clubs.
  22. Agreed, but I think it should have some kind of qualification for team sports - like in Football, for instance, in which 20+ teams is really unnecessary.
