Finally a world medal for Braz! And this time the other Lavillenie took fourth place. Needless to say, the Lavillenie family must hate Braz.

Not all of them win big money, those outside the top 150 barely make a living.  It's not like in football where they can just keep playing for russian clubs in the russian league, they have no source of income if you don't allow them to travel and compete internationally.

Yes, and that's it. So, don't try to justify this decision by mentioning that India is trying to help avoiding a global war. A neutral reaction right now only shows India defends its own interests and is not worried about Ukraine or peace at all.

It's foolish to think that the US would ever get this kind of treatment if they start a war anywhere. I wouldn't even blame racism why there wouldn't be boycotts in the case of another war in the Middle East similar to Iraq. People are only up in arms about this war because they see Ukraine as a democratic country that wants to join the West. If Russia would have invaded Belarus the international reaction wouldn't be anywhere near as dramatic. Sure, people were protesting against wars initiated by the US, but in the end it's our ideology (democracy, freedom) against a country or countries with an opposing ideology. If the US invades Iran the next day in the name of protecting freedom and democracy and whatever bullshit casus belli they fabricate this time, Europe would join them, and nobody would even talk about sanctions.

Sport is always mixed with politics (as almost everything in life, actually), but IMO athletes should never be banned from competition due to a political decision (whatever it is) from their government. Punish the national federation, get rid of the name, the flag, the anthem, whatever you want, but let them compete.

Also, I think Rublev signing "no war" on a camera sends a more powerful message than banning him from competition.

my friend can I ask you to change your mind ? I exactly have the same problem with these double standards. I left the forum so many times in past . you can ask Sindo . he will tell you try this "ignore option" that's great. that's the only reason I'm still here. I simply don't see people I don't like.

With this criteria we shouldn't give "even a toilet paper" to a lot of countries due to a multitude of conflicts from the past.

    From our Press association

Entry into the territory of the Slovak Republic will be made possible after individual assessment even to persons who will not have a valid travel document (biometric passport).

The Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic announces that all border crossings at the border with Ukraine are currently in operation, except for the Čierna nad Tisou - Chop railway border crossing, where passenger traffic has been stopped. Entry will be granted to all persons fleeing this war.

Slovakia will also send cca 1,500 soldiers troops to the border with Ukraine. They will help with refugees and organization of refugees camps, the Slovak Ministry of the Interior announced. At the same time, it gave its consent to the preparations for the operation of a NATO military unit in the country along the borders

The Slovak-Ukrainian border, 98 kilometers long, is the external border of the EU and the Schengen area of free movement of persons..

How did your NOC perform in Beijing?

Pretty good for our expectations, Brazil is always improving in winter sports (even if it is happening in a very slow way)

Was it better than expected or was it worse?

I think it was better. Our only real expectation were TOP 15 in Skeleton and TOP 20 in Bobsled and we got both of them

What were the ups and downs, what were the highlights, what were the biggest disappointments?

Highlights - Nicole 13th in Skeleton, 4-man 20th in Bobsled and Manex Silva in Cross Country with the best FIS points achieved by a Brazilian.

Downs - Of course what happened to Bruna before the games is on the top. Also, Michel Macedo who didn't complete the second run in Slalom, he could get a TOP 30, and Sabrina Cass in Moguls, I was expecting a final at least.

What were the most emotional events for you? Who made a suprisingly good result?

The interview from Sabrina representing Brazil and Edson Bindilatti after his last run in Bobsled.

I hope that in Italy, Brazilian team will be bigger, and present in more sports. We have very good prospects in different sports that we didn't participate in these games. And also improve our results, getting the best performance in a Winter Olympics or even getting a medal.
