Greece's Despina Papamichail qualified for Adelaide beating #151 Jones and #147 Voegele. She's 28 years old but currently at a career-high ranking of 182 and doesn't have many points to defend until July. It would be nice if she can really rise up the rankings the next few months and be a late bloomer. This is the first time she qualified for a WTA main draw (she was a lucky loser the other time she played a main draw so she didn't really "qualify").

:USA Amanda Anisimova is having the best week since January 2020 as she made the Melbourne Summer Set 2 Final. She's been working with Darren Cahill this week and suddenly she's had the best week in two years!

Naomi Osaka once again withdrawing in the middle of the tournament. This is becoming a pattern with her. I am sure she will be totally healthy during the Australian Open though...

Yeah, it was like a pro playing a club level junior. Rybakina could enter Top 10 after Australian Open as she can go really far there IMO. Raducanu has done nothing since USO and it will be a very long season for her.

This makes me feel embarrassed that Maria lost to Raducanu in the US Open semifinals

Is it bad that I don't want Rybakina to do well because she plays for Kazakhstan (despite having nothing to do with the country besides money)? Although the regular tour isn't as bad, at the Olympics I was very against her and didn't want her to win a medal.

    • Oh very cool.  Try <!-- (content) -->, they use it for instructions for tables on soccer events, maybe it can work in a table like you have done.
    • With the ever-changing world around us, there are still a few things that are constant year after year, and in this case it's Levi being the most boring round in every alpine skiing season (for me). I almost fell asleep twice while watching the second run.
    • Truls, the Lebruns, Hugo, and many other non-Chinese men would beg to differ! (The women are another story.)
    • Exactly the other example I thought of.   I genuinely think there's an issue with those two sports  - in Diving the rise of GB prevented somewhat embarrassing back to back to back clean sweeps; they would be well advised imho to seek to add mixed synchro, team and high dive events, which could be done faguely cleaply with relatively little rise in total quota (14 fr the high dive - the rest could be found from existing competitors), and uses only another reasonably cheap venue (Basically scaffolding with wrap, a big pool which you can reuse, and temp seating near the beach) - given the increase in beach based events - volleyball, but more so coastal rowing and beach sprint canoe, and possibly triathlon and open water swimming, there's no harm adding a nice spectacular high dive event with about 24 quotas total (12+12) - the advantage being the Chinese are not so into high dive so it automatically jazzes up your medal table - in a way its a pity Gymnastics aren't having a beach based flying rings competition which has a long Venice Beach tradition.   Don't know how we fix Table tennis, truth be told - it is simply 'their' game, in a way not even diving is - they have tables in railways stations and everything.
    • I don’t do it manually, I use a script that pulls the data from the ISU website, so same amount of work on my end regardless of how many skaters it is. I would like to hide the lower half of the list, I know that’s possible on Wikipedia, but I haven’t figured out how to do it yet.
    • New sport of throwing in Seoul
    • That looks really good. I would trim it down though to only show a few outside of the qualification window, seems like a lot of work to detail irrelevant skaters, but what ever you want to do is surely appreciated.
    • they did skate in the time trial races on Thursday, though no remarkable results, unfortunately
    • Meanwhile Trump retired the addicional taxes in many Brazilian products, its very funny cuz Bolsonaro supporters now see thar he didnt care about him lol.   Actually in think that brazilian economy is in his best moment since 2013/14.   Just 5% of unemployment, the lowest since 2012 and everything pointing to a deflaction in next months.
    • All women from non-qualified countries who currently have under 400 distance FIS points:     I assume Iceland for example won't be able to get a quota through World Cups: they have one, they just don't have an eligible athlete (yet).   So , , ,  might have a chance of getting a women's quota in the World Cup route, it seems - Thailand will probably need Karen Chanloung to do something.
