Gianlu33 reacted to Werloc in Biathlon IBU World Cup 2018 - 2019
Well, everyone that knows me on the forum probably knows that I love stats and I love going back in time, so this time I was considering who is still active in the world cup from the previous winners that haven't won a race in a while and how long it's been since their success. I think that is fairly interesting, so let's start with the women:
Anna Frolina - - 2008/09 - Antholz - Pursuit (1)
Magdalena Gwizdon - - 2012/13 - Sochi - Sprint (2)
Selina Gasparin - - 2013/14 - Hochfilzen - Sprint (2)
Synnoeve Solemdal - - 2013/14 - Hochfilzen - Pursuit (2)
Anais Bescond - - 2013/14 - Antholz - Sprint (1)
Katharina Innerhofer - - 2013/14 - Pokljuka - Sprint (1)
Veronika Vitkova - - 2014/15 - Oberhof - Sprint (1)
Valj Semerenko - - 2014/15 - Kontiolahti - Mass Start (2)
Franziska Hildebrand - - 2015/16 - Rupholding - Sprint (2)
Ekaterina Yurlova-Percht - - 2015/16 - Antholz - Pursuit (2)
Olena Pidrushina - - 2015/16 - Canmore - Sprint (2)
Anais Chevalier - - 2016/17 - Nove Mesto - Pursuit (1)
Nadine Horchler - - 2016/17 - Antholz - Mass Start (1)
Denise Herrmann - - 2017/18 - Ostersund - Pursuit (2)
Justine Braisaz - - 2017/18 - Annecy - Mass Start (1)
Tiril Eckhoff - - 2017/18 - Antholz - Sprint (5)
Vanessa Hinz - - 2017/18 - Kontiolahti - Mass Start (1)
Well, you can mostly see a pattern that the athletes won only once or twice in their career, a lot of the wins came from Antholz and not a single (last recorded) win came from the individual. As for the men:
Michal Slesingr - - 2007/08 - Oslo - Mass Start (1)
Dominik Landertinger - - 2009/10 - Khantiy-Mansiysk - Mass Start (2)
Fredrik Lindstrom - - 2011/12 - Antholz - Sprint (1)
Evgeniy Garanichev - - 2011/12 - Oslo - Sprint (1)
Dmitry Malyshko - - 2012/13 - Oberhof - Pursuit (2)
Ondrej Moravec - - 2012/13 - Oslo - Mass Start (1)
Lukas Hofer - - 2013/14 - Antholz - Sprint (1)
Jakov Fak - - 2014/15 - Khantiy-Mansiysk - Mass Start (8)
Simon Eder - - 2015/16 - Rupholding - Pursuit (3)
Erik Lesser - - 2015/16 - Rupholding - Mass Start (2)
Dominik Windisch - - 2015/16 - Canmore - Mass Start (1)
Anton Babikov - - 2016/17 - Ostersund - Pursuit (1)
Benedikt Doll - - 2016/17 - Hochfilzen - Sprint (1)
Simon Schempp - - 2016/17 - Hochfilzen - Mass Start (12)
Arnd Peiffer - - 2016/17 - Kontiolahti - Pursuit (8)
Tarjei Boe - - 2017/18 - Ostersund - Sprint (9)
Julian Eberhardt - - 2017/18 - Kontiolahti - Mass Start (4)
Henrik L'abee-Lund - - 2017/18 - Oslo - Sprint (1)
Fairly evident that German hopes and dreams are destroyed by Johannes and Martin. Quite a few multi-winners like Tarjei, Arnd, Julian, Jakov, Simon with a year or more since last win. Some surprises for me: Bescond, Vitkova, Doll only on a single win. Lastly, it's been a very long time since Landertinger last had a win.

Hi everyone,
After 2 or 3 years reading this forum anonymously I finally decided to sign up. As many of you I'm a huge fan of the olympics and sports in general, supporting greek and french athletes.
See you here!

Gianlu33 reacted to phelps in Luge FIL World Championships 2019
sure...I've never seen a race in Winterberg not affected by weather conditions...
when it's cold, there are issues with wind and ice conditions...when it's warm, no need to say that's always a lottery...and when it's snowy, not only it's a mess, it's also a very dangerous track...
tbh, they should get rid of that track...actually, they should have done it a long, long time ago...
p.s. and yeeesssss!!!!! it's not gonna be 7 out of 7 for Germany...
I guess some heads are gonna swirl tonight in the German camp...

^Switzerland being the organiser is directly qualified.
Qualification System
In Europe, each team will play once against each of the other teams in their group. Based on the results from these group matches, a total of 10 teams will qualify according to the following:
- The two best teams from each qualification group will qualify; and
- The the two best 3rd placed teams will qualify.
The calculation of the best 3rd teams will follow this order: 1. Average number of points 2. Average goal difference 3. Average scored goals 4. Lottery drawing*
*Since the number of teams between the qualification groups differs, the group sizes will be equalised by removing the results from the matches against the lowest placed teams in the larger-sized group before comparing the average results.
In AOFC, the teams are divided into two groups and the teams will play once against each of the other teams in their group. Based on the results from these group matches the teams will progress to the play-off rounds, as follows and four teams will qualify:
- 1st in Group A & Group B progress to the final and qualify directly to the WFC Final round
- 2nd in each group play a quarter final against the 3rd placed team from the other group. The winners of this progress to the 3rd placed match and both qualify directly to the WFC Final round
In Americas, the teams will play each other twice and based on the results of these matches, one team will qualify.

Buzzi fractured the tibial plate in his right leg (the same he injured at last season's finals)...
he's going to have an operation in the next few days to stabilize the bone and check possible ligament damages...
his season's over, of course...
definitely not the best way to celebrate the best result of your career...

maybe you could try the Eurosport Player (if you have a decent internet broadband connection)...
it's very cheap (at least, here in Italy for our standard...until a few days ago we had it on offer for just 25€ for a full year, but even the standard 50€/year is absolutely worth the expense) and gives you full access to the 2 linear channels and many other contents...
p.s. for those who watch the Italian raisport channel...if you only could understand a word in Italian language, you would get away from it as quick as possible (98% of the Italian sport fans just can't stand any "journalist" from our public tv, most of which just don't understand anything about any sport they talk of -and, strange to be said, those who follow football are among the worst in the world)...
