  1. Speed Climbing as a stand alone event is a near lock for the program given Poland’s success in the discipline. I wouldn’t be surprised if they went with the Combined event, but Climbing fans would probably prefer to see all three disciplines as independent events.
  2. No, all three have distinct walls, scoring systems, and climbing styles (though Boulder and Lead are somewhat similar). Most gyms will have Boulder and Lead walls, while Speed are a somewhat rare. Speed walls are uniform, while the others have basic requirements, but different construction from venue to venue. Speed and Lead use a belay (rope maned to be someone or fixed to a point), while Boulder uses no belay. The “hooks” (not a bad term for that honestly), are generally called clips or carabiners. My guess is that all three disciplines will feature at the European Games in some capacity (whether as separate events, combined, or other).
  3. Speed Climbing hasn’t featured at the European Games yet. Perhaps you’re thinking of the 2017 World Games (in Wroclaw) or latest European/World Championships? Yeah, Poland will definitely look for some medals in Speed Climbing.
  4. Sport Climbing I really enjoyed Triathlon at Baku 2015. Great to see it back on the program.
  5. Simi Hamiliton and Sophie Caldwell-Hamiliton
  6. I would like to second the request for an extension of 24 hours on the deadline.
  7. I actually think the Paralympic Games logo looks fairly good. I think adding some color helps. I don’t really understand the current infatuation designers and consumers have with white on white designs.
  8. She was such an exceptional person. I so saddened by this news.
  9. McMaster should have a decent chance in the 400m hurdles as well.
  10. Oh, I’m not unhappy about Honduras winning the quota. I definitely didn’t mean to come across that way. Honduras doesn’t tend to get too many quotas, so I’m very happy for their team.
  11. Broadcast Schedule for the upcoming men’s world championships: https://worldcurling.org/2021/03/wmcc2021-broadcast/?fbclid=IwAR2Uv0yM7PV9QW-9LQedQvzpeTDJC_HXVsnm44XKr9F8N1k-6HId9XeoHVc
  12. Malta drawing with Slovakia, Luxembourg beating Ireland...I smell a victory for San Marino in the air
  13. That’s what I was hoping/thinking. He’d be a good candidate.
  14. Damn, congrats to on the quotas. remains quota-less. What a great performance though from D’amour. He’s young, so I hope for some good things to come.
  15. It’s official. I’m going to have a heart attack any moment now.
  16. I’m a mess at the moment. I have no clue how D’amour is so calm.
  17. I’m here to support I’m so nervous. It’s a feeling I’m not used to coming from an NOC that gets quotas all the time
  18. If you can’t access the stream shared earlier, World Archery had a stream going as well: https://youtu.be/e4D88opqfig
  19. Conversely the only people complaining about continental representation are Europeans most of time I do understand and sympathize with those whose teams miss out on the Olympic Games. It sucks for the athletes and it sucks for those who want to see that country play. It’s just unfortunate that there’s limited quota places at the Olympics. I still stand by continental representation, but I do understand where you come from, and you do present an interesting argument.
  20. I personally agree with the principle of continental representation. The Olympic Games are celebration of international sport. There should be strong international representation. Another thing to consider when proposing doing away with continental representation is the consequences of that on the growth and appeal of sport. Getting rid of continental representation would most likely make Handball even more Euro-centric then it already is. If countries don’t have a reason/reward for competing in the sport then why would they? There are probably some countries that would still compete because of popularity of the sport, and that’s fantastic, but my guess is that there’d be a significant decrease in teams from Asia, Africa, and Pan America. Also, if the Olympic Games are a celebration of international sport, how would it look for a sport to have like 10-12 European teams in it? My guess is the argument would then shift to wether or not Handball deserves a place on the Olympic program. I do also think that the current strength of the top teams from Asia, Pan America, and Africa justifies giving those regions continental representation.
