The Slovaks could probably use this phrasing in the qualification system to challenge the ISSF’s decision: However, the ISSF could likely defend their position using this clause: “still eligible to obtain” being interpreted as athletes still need to qualify an individual for an individual event quota to participate in individual events.

There’s nothing that upsets me more than “frivolous” or “dead” quota. People may not like how complicated the Canoe Sprint qualification system is, but at least the ICF makes the most of the quotas they award. Awarding quotas purely for a Mixed Team event that has other means of qualification and then not allowing the athletes qualified through the Mixed Team event to participate the individual events is an extraordinary waste of quota.

Any word on wether he will be replaced by another athlete, or will the men’s singles drop down to 41 entries?

@dcro Marin Rantes came very close to history this evening. He missed the podium in men’s park by one place. I believe (not certain) he would have been the first Croatian to win a medal at the Summer X Games had he made it onto the podium. It’s also rather impossible to know he close he was to doing that since X Games doesn’t post explicit scores under their new scoring format (the riders are just given a final rank based on overall impression over multiple runs during a jam session).
