  1. Enjoyable, well-made documentary about the “youth and urban” sport’s path to the Olympics.
  2. I really dislike the current format for repechage. I’d prefer to see the 4 quarterfinal losers face off in two repechage semifinals, with the winners facing the semifinal losers for bronze.
  3. I’m not sure, but there might/should be a “athletes by NOC” (or some similar) feature as part of the results system. The results system is generally published in the week or leading up to the Games.
  4. has received a reallocation in WC1 200m. Source: https://www.canoeicf.com/news/canoe-sprint-history-set-be-made-tokyo-olympics ICF also claims in the article that there will be 32 entries in WC1 200m, and 14 entries in WC2 500m. I only had 13 entries in the WC2 500m in my qualification breakdown, so an NOC has received reallocation or two there I guess.
  5. @ahjfcshfghb the guy from is a long jumper, who has also competed in the sprints in the past. My gut tells me he asked for a long jump entry, but was given a 100m entry instead. I can’t confirm this, but this is something you could look into. I’d absolutely recommend pushing that story ATR’s way.
  6. The main problem was that they didn’t expect countries to have athletes that would only compete in the Mixed Relay. It was intended to be a additional medal opportunity for athletes after the individual event. Unfortunately, a loophole in the qualification system allows countries to not enter athletes in the individual event, but still allow them to compete in the relay. Ideally, the Paris 2024 qualification system will get rid of that loophole and mandate that relay athletes must compete in the individual events.
  7. Tokyo 2020 is offering two different Fantasy/Prediction contests in their Fanzone, and so I’ve gone ahead and set up leagues for Totallympics users. You’ll need to create an “Olympic ID” to play (this is your olympics.com account for use at the Olympic Channel and in interactive zones such as this, it is completely free). I recommend using your Totallympics username as your Olympic ID username (if possible), so that we can identify you more easily. Here’s a link to the fanzone home page: https://olympics.com/tokyo-2020/en/fanzone/ The first contest is known as “Fantasy.” Here’s a link to the home page for the contest, where you can join the Totallympics league: https://olympics.com/tokyo-2020/en/fanzone/olympic-fantasy/. You should be able to begin selecting your team members in about 8 days, make sure to read the contest rules. Use the following code to join our league: 3HK4YMTY The second contest is known as “Brackets.” Here’s a link to the home page for the contest, where you can join the Totallympics league: https://olympics.com/tokyo-2020/en/fanzone/olympic-bracket-challenge/. Again, you should be able to begin making your predictions in about 8 days, make sure to read the contest rules. KTEDNARJ I’ve tagged some users that might be interested in playing below, but any Totallympics users are welcome to play of course! @Henry_Leon @Griff88 @Vojthas @Gianlu33 @Agger @Wumo @heywoodu @Pablita @Dunadan @tuniscof @toulousain @SteveParker
  8. I’m not seeing the quota for that @intoronto listed, so might be 20 then?
  9. Was qualified by the world rankings in the 400m, not sure what will happen to that quota since his suspension is only provisional at the moment.
  10. First time since independence that Lithuania fails to qualify for the Olympics. This is also the first time since 1984 that China has failed to qualify for the Olympics. Both according NBC reporter Nick Zaccardi.
  11. Not technically my country, but an NOC I support. 4/339 (1.18%) Archery 1/5 Athletics 1/48 Swimming 2/37 Might be two more events in swimming, the USVI NOC team announcement wasn’t explicitly clear with the details there.
  12. The thing is, shooting has been on the Commonwealth Games program longer than a quite a few of the core sports. It’s omission as core sport raises some questions, especially since the core sports program was recently reworked. It might not be the most well known Olympic sport, but shooting enjoys a high participation rate at both the Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games. For instance, all had entries in shooting, when they didn’t even have entries in many of the core sports. Also, with electronic scoring, compelling finals format, and good graphics, it’s not too hard to follow in-person or on television.
