  1. Too bad it's in German, not sure how many non-Germans here will understand it. Haven't watched the whole thing yet, but I definitely feel sympathy for him. So far, basically the point is: there are two groups of racers in these Race at Home races. One group who takes it very serious, and another who is in it mostly for fun and to give the fans some fun stuff as entertainment. Abt is clearly in the second group, and during some other races the idea popped up - with at least a thousand viewers in the live stream, it was all public when they were talking about this - to have a pro sim racer take his place. He doesn't give a rat's ass about the position in the race, but "it'd be fun to see how it goes and how he does against these real racers, meanwhile we're making a video of it and after the race we'll show it to the fans." The basic point was to pull a bit of a prank, give the fans a laugh and that's it. Yeah, I can perfectly get he didn't expect people to absolutely knock his virtual head off for it as if he'd just killed a baby in a live stream.
  2. That's not what we disagree on
  3. Overreactions galore in two months of virtual racing Anyway, dumb move by him, even being the son of the team boss is not likely to help him out in this case - considering his mediocre results lately they might have been looking for replacement anyway, a tiny excuse could have been all that was needed.
  4. Yeah, I'm very glad the Christian people I know are pretty much the opposite of all of this - and are definitely not 'Bolsominions'. The service I went to wasn't in a big church by the way, there may have been not more than 100 people. I do hope to go back to Brazil in the future of course, and when I do, I hope I can go there again - I'd be interested in talking with the guy who was leading the service, just to get a better impression of him. About point 2), I'm hopeful about the people in the service I went to, since the gist of the guy's story was basically "you get back what you put into something", which - unlike "the devil causes it!" - is something I can pretty much agree with. It doesn't always work of course, lazy and shitty people do get good things sometimes and amazing, wonderful and hard-working people sadly sometimes get shitty stuff, but in general I think it's a good idea to live by. Anyhow, your entire story reminded me of a few words I heard a while back: "You choose your friends, but you don't choose your family." That's about right, I hope you've also got some people around you who don't give two shits about whether you fall for men, women or both, as long as you're happy. As for the Netherlands: we don't have that many people so strongly like this here (they exist, of course, but not in such huge numbers), when it comes to religion the bigger problem in terms of accepting things like people who don't believe or people who happen to be guy comes from the Muslim community. Quite a large number* seem to think it's perfectly fine to yell at you or knock you out if you're gay or not a Muslim or - if you're a girl - just an overall whore. You know, because they can see your arm skin or something. *obviously not all, and it's sensitive to even mention it, which is why I'm stressing the 'obviously not all' part
  5. Yep Tour of California, the race where Toms Skujins always went from being mediocre to being awesome I wish he'd show his California mojo more often, in bigger races, he's got the potential and (and this is sort of rare) the will to attack all the time
  6. Robin Haase's former coach, who got arrested on an airport while they travelled back from a tournament, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of a prominent businessman. This was the last appeal possibility, so bye. https://www.omroepwest.nl/nieuws/4050632/Moordende-tenniscoach-verliest-zaak-bij-Hoge-Raad-20-jaar-cel-definitief
  7. What exactly is the 'terrorism' there?
  8. Oh Great Britain might be the world's number one in one-sided coverage. Just look at what BBC shits out on our TV's during things like Olympics or world championships. That 'Niger! Niger!' moment was one of my all-time favourite Olympic moments
  9. To be fair, I don't think anyone wants to be in a situation where it has to be postponed, but choices like that aren't really a luxury they often have these days..skiers can be angry and disappointment all they want (and rightly so), the national sports federations aren't the ones said disappointments should be aimed at in this case.
  10. I think I have quite a lot of stuff still to see of which I don't know the results yet, probably I'd just end up watching that (two years worth of MMA mainly) If watching some replays of multi-sports events, for me it'd be about Olympics, probably 2012 or 2008 - Olympics that I have actually watched, but aren't so close anymore to still remember most things. A more useful/normal time of life is about to start though (you know, work and such), so I'm probably not gonna have a whole lot of time to spend 1-2 hours a day watching things I've already seen
  11. Oh and because of the caution and overtime, the race ended up being 405 laps, making it the longest ever NASCAR race with 977 kilometers, 7km (three laps) longer than the 2011 race that previously held the record.
  12. Elliott and his crew chief have some talking to do, that was not the smartest pit stop ever.
  13. I can imagine how some people find that a problem, personally I don't I really don't care much whether or not they have them in 2022. If they do, I'll gladly watch, if they don't, so be it.
  14. But what exactly is the problem of having the world championships in 2022 after the Olympics? Other than 'that isn't what we're used to'.
  15. It might be better to accept that now, than to keep cancelling/postponing stuff relatively shortly beforehand..
  16. It might be helpful to try and play some of this stuff against/with each other every now and then to get used to it, and see if in the future it's possible to turn it into a Games-like event. It's quite hard to have an event with a whole host of games which are 99% entirely new to pretty much everyone, instead of taking it step by step. I'd definitely be up for a couple of games, be it one on one or with a couple of other people.
  17. I wouldn't really say there's a lack of interest, it's more of a lack of inspiration At least from my side
  18. Bowyer in the wall again, meh
  19. Possibly, but alpine skiing isn't a sport where you very often see people skipping this and that event other than because of injuries and stuff like that. If they could fit the world championships somewhere in January or March, I doubt there will be much difference compared to other years.
  20. One would assume either before or after the Olympics. There is quite literally 0% chance their plan is to move it to exactly the relatively short period in which the Olympics are held.
  21. What exactly would the issue be? I'm fairly certain they won't plan it exactly during the Olympics
  22. Jamie Little's umbrella is the first deadly victim of the day, thank you Clint Bowyer
  23. And now it's raining, this is gonna end up being a morning thing
  24. Cheering for fun teams, and Ajax kicking out those boring old teams like Real Madrid that are winning always anyway two seasons (?) ago was a hell of a lot of fun
