  1. If only they would use it to draw attention to the worldwide bee problem, but I doubt it
  2. Yes, although there does seem to be a significantly shorter time between 'first case(s)' and 'word getting out' than was the case with SARS. Too bad we don't have a user from Wuhan here, it's rather hard to even guess the credibility of all kinds of random people on social media who might as well post the most sensationalist things just to get more and more likes ("they're burning the dead by the hundreds in Wuhan!" is a prime example these days).
  3. I like how the skateboarding uniforms are pretty much what I expected from a skateboarding uniform: pretty much some old pants and that one t-shirt you bought ages ago but was three sizes too big so now you only use them when doing some gardening work or something
  4. They shouldn't get a 'free pass'. They should, however, be allowed to freely compete - potentially after a certain amount in quarantaine. China messing up with Youth Olympic athletes (although them being 'youth' is of zero significance) shouldn't be a point of discussion in this issue.
  5. Because it has already spread to other countries and so saying "No, there's nothing happening" would be implausible for everyone in the world. However, making up numbers to make it seem like something is going on, but is not as bad as it actually is, is entirely possible in an authoritarian state like China or North Korea. Not saying that's what they're doing, nobody knows, but it's really not unthinkable and it wouldn't be the first time. Take SARS: it started in November, but they only mentioned something to the WHO in February and (worse) pushed down on press even reporting about it inside China.
  6. Mostly considered to be one of the (many) skaters with a chance for a medal, but 'medal favorite' is a level or two too high
  7. Let's ask @brunamoura to make a video of the start if she isn't participating in it herself
  8. I find it rather disturbing media apparently knows not only that she had a suicide attempt, but even exactly how she tried it (and decided that was a good idea to publish worldwide)...
  9. All based on his 'and I refuse to watch any of them'
  10. What on earth is that middle one for? It's in the athletics thread so I assume athletics, but I can't think of a single event where that looks good. Is it to swim in the water hurdle during the steeplechase or something?
  11. Well this competition sucked. Both Andrea Limbacher and Brittany Phelan crashed hard and injured their knees, end of season. Especially Phelan's injury seems bad, she seems to have torn pretty much everything one can tear in a knee.
  12. Abadi Hadis of Ethiopia, only 22 years old. Placed 15th in the Olympic 10k in 2016 and won bronze at the 2017 cross-country worlds. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/other-sports/athletics/abadi-hadis-dead-ethiopian-long-21435004 Apparently he had been sick for several months already
  13. That is so weird Even weirder is one of those videos mentioned it's a 'tradition' from 1970, it sure sounds like they made a typo there and it should be 1790
  14. To win, you've got to pull a teenage girl to your side of the room, apparently. Which sounds like an awfully bad idea that could get you in some trouble.
  15. Two days ago the Hubei province reported around 2100 new confirmed cases (which was a pretty big rise after 1700 or so the day before), yesterday they announced around 2300 new cases.....a few minutes ago they reported more than 3100 NEW cases
  16. Well that's a start of an explanation and it seems freaking weird It doesn't mention anything about even how a result is determined or something though "This is the scene and this is happening in xxxx rooms all over Iowa!" Yeah, but then what? Are these all separate things? Or more logically, are the votes of everyone in Iowa put together and counted to determine which one person is the winner?
  17. What's the whole point of this caucus thingy anyway? Is it part of the process to decide who will be each party's candidate in the elections?
  18. Those in the Netherlands (17 people I believe) were not tested at all The national health authorities said "there was no reason to do so" after talks with them. Are these people (authorities) dumb or simply holding something behind? It's really one or the other
  19. Those in the Netherlands, who were on a plane with a Belgian who has now tested positive, were welcomed by health people dressed in completely normal clothing and everything and were sent home after a quick check to stay in quarantaine at home
  20. The by far biggest issue is indeed the doctors: any doctor can prescribe it or take care of it, if I'm not mistaken.
  21. One of the evacuated people to Belgium tested positive, now we're surrounded and he was in the plane with a Dutch group too
  22. Yes, but there are plenty of situations where you actually do have some sort of actual condition, and a TUE can function to level the playing field. I'm not saying it's not misused, sadly it is and very often at that, but abolishing it entirely is the other (also wrong) extreme.
