  1. Too bad she never got close to her best results anymore after her injury period, it already is one hell of an achievement she somehow managed to pull an Olympic silver medal out of the hat after that.
  2. It seems more and more likely UCI will move the world championships out of Switzerland, and there seems to be a major candidate.
  3. Couldn't have been anything else When thinking about Swiss winter sports fans, cowbells are the absolute number one thing that comes to mind. A group of 'em was behind me at the world ski flying championships in Vikersund...those things are freaking loud
  4. Different systems for different events maybe I mean, 2.30m is always gonna be 2.30m. Sure, there's some influence from the competition itself, but nothing compared to for example a 5km, where the field has a huge influence on the tactics and so the possible time. Winning in 13:10 can in fact be more impressive than second in 12:50.
  5. The thing is it makes it be more about having a good enough manager to get you in big meets, instead of simply being good. Not sure about the exact numbers, but for example a high jumper could get more for a 2.24m in a big meet than a 2.31m in a small meet, that's just weird.
  6. Yeah those photos of leaders standing directly next to each other, ignoring what's widely been called the number one safety measure, have baffled me since the beginning (from multiple countries) Population itself says something, but population density says even more. I'm guessing Bratislava is Slovakia's most densely populated city (do correct me if I'm wrong), and it's barely even at 30% of the density of the 133rd most densely populated US city. If you're not densely populated, you're going to do a hell of a lot better. To take it to an extreme: even if they might have given everyone in the former Kowloon Walled City a mask, no way it would not have spread like madness there simply because distance
  7. Which is exactly why I think it's important to not dub shows. Show them in English, with or without subtitles, kids will pick the English up, don't worry. About that second part of your post: I'm sort of expecting to end up with children who mix Dutch, Portuguese and English all together every now and then
  8. Sure why not, they've got plenty of men who can finish in the top-30 in World Cups!
  9. Did that (and mostly during the first years of school, where there isn't much English class yet) thanks to Dragonball Z Another simple and clear-cut reason why dubbing shows from English to whatever the language in a given country is is utterly dumb.
  10. Not sure how sad that is, considering how dumb these rankings are
  11. Cartoon Network had Courage the Cowardly Dog which often scared little me It also had Dexter's Laboratory which I very much liked, even The Powerpuff Girls were ok for young me Never much cared for Johnny Bravo and Ed, Edd 'n Eddy, which were the other main shows at the time. And then Cartoon Network suddenly disappeared one day and was replaced by goddamn MTV or TMF or some crap like that where all they did was show music videos I was so sad that day, I think that's the day I even took home someone else's bike from school instead of my own because they looked alike and I got confused
  12. iCarly was one of those insanely cheesy things Nickelodeon would show, and it was even worse considering they're basically the only channel that dubs everything so for all those teenage girl shows (yeah I have a sister so I heard stuff when the TV was on ) you had the exact same voices I don't think I've ever liked a non-animated show that was on Nickelodeon. Talking about it: I've finished Avatar - The Last Airbender, now it's on to Korra, but that started off disappointing with episode one. Maybe episode two is for a rare moment where I've got nothing to do
  13. The situations were pretty different though, here's a decent explanation on Alonso's move to McLaren: https://www.quora.com/Why-did-Alonso-return-to-McLaren Financially Renault (if they stay) might have the money for Vettel, much like Alonso he isn't gonna be cheap, but that's about it. Plus he has said something about focussing on more important things in life, so it just wouldn't be very surprising if this is it for him.
  14. Not from Red Bull or Mercedes probably. Will Vettel want to do a few steps back and drive for a team where he has pretty much no chance?
  15. Oh and Ricciardo already demanded too much money from Ferrari earlier, which is a major part of why he didn't end up there. Renault did want to pay him what he wanted, so that's where he went.
  16. Yeah one might not have expected them to go for someone who would pose a very real threat for Leclerc, so Sainz would be a smart option indeed.
  17. Alonso was Captain Asshole in a good car and an awesome dude in a mediocre car...I hope he stays away or goes to Williams or something (I know, he won't)
  18. I love you SARS-CoV-2!
  19. Norris is without any doubt one of the most talented drivers on the current grid, but he is one of the few guys who already have a contract for next year, so I doubt he'll leave the team that easily I definitly hope he won't, he is one of the few drivers who on a good day has at least a chance to challenge for a place in the top-5 or so without being in one of the three top teams. It's plain boring to see three teams take almost literally every podium position year after year.
  20. I wouldn't exactly say so, most of the others named haven't had a chance yet to drive in the kind of cars Ricciardo has and some have definitely shown the kind of speed that's expected from top-level F1 drivers. Like most people I think he's the most realistic option, also because of experience, but I doubt he'd be the best - even though he definitely is good, of course. Wouldn't be surprised to see 2020 being the end of the road for Vettel.
  21. Exactly, like I said. Too bad, but especially Ricciardo would definitely not be a bad choice neither - and probably one of the most expected ones. Schumacher will get in F1 with help of his name, but if he can get more consistent, he'll actually deserve it as well.
  22. I'm curious to see who will replace him - as are most F1 fans of course My guess is that it won't be much of a specifically interesting name, just someone from the current grid, but it'd be awesome to see one of the Ferrari Driver Academy drivers take the seat. I know it most likely won't happen, but it'd be cool. Arthur Leclerc shows promise, but is too inexperienced for now, all of Giuliano Alesi's wins came in sprint races where he started 2nd or 3rd due to the top-8 of the feature races being reversed. Marcus Armstrong was impressive in F3, until suddenly teammate Mick Schumacher got a magic car and beat out everyone in the second half. Enzo Fittipaldi has the talent, but not yet the experience. Callum Ilott is absolutely growing year after year and deserves to be in F1 at some point or another and the same goes for Robert Shwartzman, but I don't see a strong team promote someone straight from something below F2/GP2/F3000 to F1 except for a very, very special level of talents. Mick Schumacher at least has the name and sometimes the speed, but much like Luca Ghiotto he is not exactly a consistent driver. Then again, this is all for nothing since it'll just be a current F1 driver
  23. And now it's clear: Leclerc > Vettel
  24. That's like Slovakia's version of Lake Louise, damn
  25. Any idea which hotel that is on the first photo?
