  1. or we can have just a single "best National Team" category without splitting men and women (where to include also mixed teams)...
  2. not in my vote (coming soon...I really have to think about some categories...there are too many events, athletes, moments to choose from)... p.s. I also have the same question of @Giovanni Gianni Cattaneo where do mixed teams/pairs go?
  3. Olympics: Rogerio Sampaio in Barcelona 1992 World Championships: Joao Derly, Tiago Camilo and Luciano Correa in 2007 (in Rio de Janeiro) the Masters (this tournament is held only since 2010): today's is just the second Gold in history among the men, the previous one was won by Rafael Silva (+100kg) in 2012 (in Almaty)
  4. by the way, it's gonna be quite a difficult choice in some categories...
  5. yeah... I think there are a couple of global events that might be off the radar of most people, even some of the usually well educated Totallympics users, especially when many minds are still offuscated by the recent football world cup...

  8. yeah, I saw the updates on this situation yesterday... as I said to a friend, now the Mets have made a big switch in my personal list...from a half-nice team to just behind the Empire of Evil among the teams I like to...
  9. (5) & (4) among the men + & (5) among the women are the only Nations exceeding the 3 quota places in the 5 weight classes so far, all the remaining Countries have no more than 3 men and 3 women currently in qualifying position (I'm only counting the top 10 ranked lifters for the global World spots, not the Continental quota places yet). looking at the world champs results, I guess that would eventually give up the -59Kg and the -71kg among the women.

  14. in Italy, the record (of course) is still the 2006 Final on our public TV the viewers were 23,935,000 (meanwhile on our main pay-tv, Sky Italia, which were simulcasting the match, the viewers were 1,170,000). the rating was 84.1% on the public TV channel (Rai 1) and 6% on the Sky Italian TV channel(s). so, the total numbers for that magical night are 25,645,000 spectators and 90.1% rating (and this not counting the many thousends in front of the giant screens all around the city squares).
  15. the exact opposite of Italy... here all the people only want sport events being shown on terrestrial/satellite traditional TV channels... and actually, public places can't stream anything by law*, they have to subscribe to dedicated TV channels to show football matches and/or F1, MotoGP races *to be precise, they can't stream mainstream events which they charge any amount of additional money for watching... during regular opening without any extra charge for watching a specific event they can put whatever (legally available, of course) they want on their tv screens (if they have any).
  16. despite Baiul and Kim probably did skate the 2 best programs ever, here there's only one Queen, one Legend... and her name is Katarina Witt

  19. well, unfortunately Italy wasn't there also 4 years ago... the big difference is the season in which they played. In 2018, as always, the World Cup was played at the beginning of the Summer (when the schools normally close their activity). This year, instead, they played just before Christmas, with all the school and working activities running full time. moreover, 4 years ago there were more matches in our prime time in the group stage phase.

  21. in Italy, the World Cup Final yesterday afternoon recorded 12,948,000 viewers (up 1.25 million from 4 years ago*) for a rating of 68.6% (up 2 pts from 2018*). the 64 matches did average 3,998,000 viewers and a 24.45% rating, both numbers significantly lower than 4 years ago* (4.45 million viewers and 27.8% rating in 2018). *4 years ago the whole World Cup was broadcasted by the Mediaset TV channels, a private commercial network (owned by the infamous mr.Berlusconi), meanwhile this year all the matches were aired by our public TV channels, RAI.
  22. first Argentina winning the world cup, then this one... basically, a perfect day
  23. my very special exercise from Today...
  25. Stage #2 ( Passo Paradiso) Men's Individual Race (NOT an Olympic Event) Gold: Remi Bonnet Silver: Davide Magnini Bronze: Thibault Anselmet
