  1. this time... but in the past we used to have tougher standards also in athletics (and we also used to have a stronger and deeper team in athletics, but that's another story... )... p.s I don't agree at all, too...and if I were an athlete, I'd go even in front of a trial court to make this discrimination end... but I'm only a lazy TV spectator...
  2. I don't know what's the situation in other Countries, but I can tell you that Italy have more demanding standards than IOC in those sports that could lead our team to be too big... in Swimming and Athletics it's always possible to qualify so many athletes that our Olympic trip would eventually be too expensive because of too many participants (we always have to deal with 300 to 400 athletes...and this costs a lot to our poor NOC), that's why we always want to be sure that our guys don't get a free holiday but can at least go through the preliminaries and make at least the semis... if we would allow all those who beat the "easy" FINA rather than WA standards, we would almost surely have a 500 to 600 people team, which is not sustainable by our NOC in terms of pure money... in the end, it's always about money...

  4. the most beautiful story of the whole Tokyo Games... and you don't even need to wait until the Summer to enjoy... https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/stories/news/detail/swimming-japan-olympic-trials-day-2/ https://olympics.nbcsports.com/2021/04/04/rikako-ikee-leukemia-olympics-swimming-japan/ https://swimswam.com/leukemia-survivor-rikako-ikee-qualifies-for-the-tokyo-olympic-games/ https://swimswam.com/rikakoikees-olympic-qualifying-100fly-race-emotional-interview-video/
  5. Those are GMT times, but CET nowadays is GMT+2...
  6. are you sure you're reading the correct program? as far as I know, the start time for all Monday and Tuesday sessions is 10 a.m. while on Wednesday the C & B Finals will start at 9 a.m. and the big finals at 9.40 a.m. (plus, some repechage heats on Tuesday will be held in the afternoon)... ah, OK I just read the news about weather forecast... they cancelled all of Tuesday's sessions, so the only event that has 4 competition rounds (M1X) will feature heats and repechage on Monday and semis and finals on Wednesday (however, it's at 8.30 a.m. the semis and at 10.50 a.m. the final...not as crazy early as you posted )...

  10. if you get your Eurosport Player (or Discovery+ app, depending on what happens in your Country), you're going to have every single event of the Games available ondemand not only during the Games, but also for quite a while after the end of Tokyo 2020* (so, you'll also have the chance to catch up with those events you don't watch in those 16 days because of time restrictions/personal priorities)... *if I remember correctly, Pyeongchang 2018's events were still available on Eurosport Player until about a month after the end of those Games...
  11. tv and online coverage is on the Eurosport TV channels and online Player... results should be available on this page as soon as the competition starts... https://www.ewfed.com/ewf-senior-weightlifting-championships-oqc-03-11-april-2021-moscow-rus.html keep an eye also on the EWfed Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/EuropeanWeightlifting

  14. believe it or not, today's gold medal match in the women's -48kg between Milani and Giorda was the first ever all-Italian affair in the history of the IJF Grand Slam... and with today's Gold, Francesca Milani almost completed a miracolous comeback in the OQR and basically fixed her Olympic spot with only 3 tournaments left (even if 1 of those tournaments is the world championship, with many, many points up for grabs)... tomorrow the men's -73kg is the main focus for our team, with Fabio Basile (Olympic Champion in Rio, but in the -66kg) desperately looking for a big score to save his ass and earn a spot for the Tokyo Games (he's very much on the edge)... and he has a tough competition also inside the team, with Giovanni Esposito only a few points behind him in the OQR (the man who ends up on top between those 2 would eventually go to Tokyo)... tomorrow they both have quite favourable draw and could fight each other in the SFs...it would surely be a match to follow...
  15. Italian Spring Nationals, Day #1 Champions Men's 50m Free: Lorenzo Zazzeri, 21.89 Women's 50m Free: Costanza Cocconcelli, 25.04 (2nd: Federica Pellegrini, 25.07) Men's 400m IM: Pier Andrea Matteazzi, 4.15.80 Women's 400 IM: Sara Franceschi, 4.37.06 (OQT, see specific thread) Men's 200m Breast: Edoardo Giorgetti, 2.10.93 Women's 200m Back: Margherita Panziera*, 2.05.56 (new NR) Men's 400m Free: Gabriele Detti*, 3.44.65 (2nd: Marco De Tullio*, 3.44.74) Women's 400m Free: Simona Quadarella, 4.06.49 *already qualified to the Olympic Games via previous events/NF decision
  16. yes, the E Chs are 1 of the Golden events where to collect points in the 3rd time slot of the OQR...
  17. well, it's known since a lot of times that some of his envious collegues are protected by wada and have always thrown loads of shit on him... Diniz is an idiot and a cheater if there's one in the world...he's always been a more than modest race walker and suddenly he improved so much at an age when most athletes retire... and what a surprise! the defamatory article is signed by the significant pool of BBC, Insidethegames, Dunfee and Tallent... p.s. Tallent too is the perfect example of a cheater saved all life long by IAAF and WADA because he's part of the English-speaking Empire...the "good world" against "the big cheaters" coming from anywhere else... p.p.s. and that website are just a bunch of biased liars (knowing what they are and what they're doing)... Schwazer's samples from Beijing 2008 have been re-tested at least 100 times in order to find something to destroy him, but the evidence was so clear in his favour that they had to make up false evidence when he came back from his disqualification when he was caught because he actually used doping in 2011 and 2012 (and he admitted to have done it, showing all proofs in a serious trial court...and this is why those biased cheaters of IAAF and WADA are still trying to cover him with loads of shit)... today's athletics is less trustable than weightlifting thanks to people like them...
  18. by the way, in the men's tournament, Choupenitch is out in the round of 16 and also out of contention for the continental spot, meanwhile Michal Siess is still alive... he needs a win in the quarterfinal match against Takahiro Shikine to make his dream come true...
  19. there's nothing official yet... among the women, Volpi and Errigo are locked in, but the 3rd place and the reserve spot are still to be determined (Batini is one of the contenders, but also Palumbo, Mancini and Cipressa are still in the game)... the men's team instead is basically done with Foconi, Garozzo and CassarĂ  (with Avola and Marini fighting for the reserve spot)... however, I fear that in Tokyo we're going to hit the lowest point in the glorious history of our fencing...
  20. down to 1, only Irem Karamete could fill her target... she's going to face in the decisive assault Leyla Pirieva in about half an hour... by the way, I'm shocked by the awful performance by all the Italian fencers...especially in the men's division, where they are all out before the round of 64 (and all the top 5 guys were already gone in round of 64)... if this is the prologue of what's gonna happen in Tokyo, I really hope that the Games are cancelled...I refuse to watch a similar disaster at the Olympics...
  21. if the Niners want to be competitive and get back to the SB soon, I don't think taking a young QB like Lance or Wilson is the right move, I'd rather take Sewell and look for a trade to get an experienced backup QB to protect the team from JimmyG possible injuries... in their first couple of years, Lance or Wilson wouldn't give SF a lot more than a Beathard of this world...they're not Lawrence... if he's still available, the Falcons are going to call Wilson for sure...and Atlanta might be the right place for him, more than SF (or the Jets, even if I'm reading more and more often that they're going to call Sewell at no.2 and either stay with Darnold or find the way to bring DeShaun in NY)... we'll see how it goes very soon...
  22. they might take Devonta from 'Bama to give JimmyG a reliable target on both the short and deep passing routes, instead (they already signed some good linemen to improve their QB protection)... imho no other above the average QB would eventually move this year, except for DeShaun (if can stay out of jail, considered his last off the field performances)...
  23. yes, FIE rankings are OK, it's the qualification recap that's wrong (and it can't change, as there are no more events to be played until the next Olympic Games, except for the last Foil Individual GP)...
  24. probably they would take the test format after the traditional 36-player final with the best 12 of that event... if you look at the list of qualified athletes to the final on the official website, in fact, they are 36...
