  1. well, I think in Istanbul we missed Santarelli a lot. he's the main horse in our team. meanwhile Vismara and Di Veroli are still young and sometimes they can pull out a miracle, but they can also have a very bad day (which was the case in the first WC stage of the OQT). and also their style of always playing at a slow pace (therefore making close every match, also those with opponents that on paper should not be a problem) is not helping. however, if there's a team at risk of missing the qualification, that's the men's epee. even a 3rd place today won't be a good result, tbh.
  2. not for qualification purpose, there will be 1 more European Champ before the Games, but after the end of the OQP (it will only affect the world ranking and the Olympic draw).
  3. 4 world cup stages (if all of them will be held, given the current situation)
  4. Day #2 Group A vs 5-1 vs 3-1 Standings 1. 6 Pts 2. 3 Pts (+1 GD) 3. 3 Pts (-3 GD) 4. 0 Pts(already Eliminated) Group B vs 1-0 vs 1-0 Standings =1. 4 Pts (+1 GD, 1 GF, 0 GA) =1. 4 Pts (+1 GD, 1 GF, 0 GA) 3. 3 Pts 4. 0 Pts (already Eliminated)
  5. I wouldn't leave also (56 pts) and (55 pts) out yet. the World Championship's draw will be absolutely decisive, since there are so many points up for grabs and having a bad day in Milan could really cost the quota place also to some of the big teams ( and are the only team that can afford half a wrong step).
  6. yes, and it's always F1 pilot Valtteri Bottas and Hyland. annoying to say the least, especially when using my TV (I hate watching videos on my PC/notebook/tablet/smartphone)
  7. yeah, goalie Damian Clara is the first ever true Italian at 100% (born, raised and educated to hockey in our Country) to be drafted. however, as far as I know, next season he's going to stay in Sweden (where he already played this year). he should be one of Brynas goalies in the Allsvenskan (Swedish 2nd tier league).
  8. women's archery is wrong: Spain already have quotas from the mixed team event, today it's Great Britain and Italy (and we have won now 7 quota, not 5) @Vektor sorry, my mistake. it's all correct.
  9. still possible, but unlikely my guess is and the winner of vs (this is too close to call)
  10. also this post updated after the end of the competition
  11. post updated after the end of the competition
  12. the Italian men's sabre specialists are really not reliable, to say the least. meanwhile our foil's girls are just great.
  13. vs in a quarterfinal match, meaning that one of these 2 teams will be at the Olympics (at 99%).
  14. 2 judges from and in a match vs (where the Italian girl has well known Tunesian heritage) just that choice says a lot...
  15. I hope you're just trying to provoke here. I don't have to show anymore that I can take any Italian loss (even the most bitter and upsetting) when it's deserved. but most refs and judges in Olympic boxing are proven corrupted people and I won't stop pointing my fingers to the most obscure episodes. the Mongolian ref of the match between and can't be named only "a man that made a few mistakes", he entered the ring on a mission and followed his plan through the whole bout (and still missed his task). p.s. in this tournament there have been 2 bouts that might be named as "steal" in favor of Italian fighters (Malanga's 1st round and Gemini's match yesterday vs and if you read my posts I recognized immediately that we've been gifted those wins). meanwhile many other losses have been perfectly in order and I didn't write anything against that. the same, the only true steal against is today's QF between Chaarabi and in the women's -54kg, meanwhile the 2 shameful episodes I mostly insisted on actually are referred to matches that the Italian fighters still won despite that. it's all in this thread.
  16. look at who were the judges and how they scored the bout and then let's talk if it's not determined well before things actually happen... in this case, 2nd and 3rd round were clearly dominated by Chaarabi. that's my POV (and as wrong it might be, at least it's only based on what I see happening on the ring and not led by prejudice or bias).
  17. pretty normal since a "televised final" was created (1992, if I remember well...maybe already in 1988 but I was too young to remember), it's always been a standing stint (it must be said that until 2012 the socalled final was just the last stint of a 120 + 10 shots competition with all shots counting for the final score). then in 2016 (and 2021) new formats were used, not taking the qualification rounds into account for the final, which was contested with 3 stints in the 3 positions. now there's this new format mixing it up the last 2, having the 1st part of the final with all the 3 positions and the GMM only in standing position (because it would be terribly anti-climatic for all the tv broadcasts having like 5 shots kneeling then a long interval before 5 more shots in prone position and the final 5 in standing -normally the intervals are 7 mins between kneeling and prone position and 9 mins between prone and standing).
  18. the best 3 individual scores of athletes from the same Nation are added together and then you have a team score.
  19. Radovanovic is not even a boxer, more a greco-roman wrestler for what she did on the ring (and it's her usual style, not that she's new to this kind of interpretation of the sport). but the main problem was that corrupted disaster of a ref (he's the same that was judging Cavallaro's fight earlier this afternoon). among all the judges giving the Italian the win in each and every round, he was capable of giving a round to the other fighter...obviously because he was looking at another bout). it's obvious that he's biased towards to say the least.
  20. they couldn't steal Sorrentino's victory, but now the judges just showed all of their best against the poor Chaarabi as I always said, it's not AIBA/IBA/IOC or any other name...it's all about that fuckin' bunch of corrupted people managing the sport on and off the ring
  21. despite a ref that looked the typical AIBA/IBA inept and corrupted killer, Sorrentino outclassed Radovanovic, who basically is a greco-roman wrestler rather than a boxer. and after the score was announced, she did show no fair play at all, refusing to shake hands with the Italian and lacked of respect to all the Italian corner. very, very bad from the girl.
  22. men's Sabre OQR after 1 world cup stage and the continental champs (always my quick calculation, possibly with mistakes) 1 116 2 100 3 96 4 92 5 89 6 88 7 86 8 70 8 70 10 60 10 60 12 54 13 53 14 51 15 49 16 48 17 43 tonight's GMM result could change a lot of placings at the top of the OQR, could be 3rd with a win, but they would drop to 7th with a loss; could climb up to 4th with a win, but they would drop to 8th with a loss. in any case, the top 8 would still be very, very close and the World Champs result would be extremely important, if not decisive, for the continuation of the qualification race.
  23. it looks we have a very tough race between and for the 4th place (which would change many things in the continental repechage) and then, a crazy fight between (with and not yet totally out) for the European spot ( and shouldn't have too many problems to end up in the top 4 overall)
  24. naaa, you're still in the race according to my very quick calculation (therefore subject to many mistakes), are still the best European team outside the top 4 overall, therefore you would be qualified right now the current women's Foil Olympic Qualification Ranking after 2 world cup stages and the continental champs (according to me, always keep in mind): 1 168 2 156 3 152 4 136 5 130 6 110 7 92 8 90 9 86 10 79 11 78 12 75 13 74 14 64 15 62 16 56 17 55 18 55 19 54 20 52 21 52 22 48 23 46 24 43
