  1. I do not understand it any more. Maybe you guys can help me. Can all Russian speedskaters participate in the Beijing Games? Even those who have ever been caught using doping? I heard Olga Fatkulina (a doper from the 2014 Games) saying she is qualified for Russia on the 500 and 1000 meter.
Welke sporten volg jij?
  3. You can't get more Dutch than Schouten. The documentary is about family business on a tulip farm, where the spindle (mother) is lost due to a brain bleed. You can see how Schouten is part of the tulip business in addition to her skating career. It was an impressive documentary, so I could recommend it @heywoodu. Schouten is quite popular in the Netherlands and for a good reason. Our tulip girl :-).

  5. I think it's a little tricky to consider a medal as a safe one, especially a gold medal in sailing. It's just how the wind blows . For me the only safe gold medal is the women's hockey team. Like @heywoodusaid: we have to wait and see which superbikes the British will show up with, so not very sure of the gold medals for the men's team and Harry Lavreysen, but a medal should definitely work. Another more or less safe medal for Laura Smulders (BMX) and the W4- rowingteam (although I fear that Ireland will win the gold). I think for our Belgian neighbours and friends there are a lot more 'safe' gold medal picks: Evenpoel and Van Aert in the men's road race and time trial, Thiam in the heptathlon (athletics), Derwael at uneven bars (gymnastics) and the men's hockeyteam.
  6. As far as I know, the World list is the same as the Olympic list. First 8 qualified judoka's on the list are seeded. 1-8, 5-4, 3-6 and 7-2. Does anyone know when the draw take place?
  8. 1. Who were the most unexpected Qualifiers(Team/Individual) from your nation? Women's football and men's 3x3 2.Which athletes/teams ' not qualifying from your nation hurt you the most? Jemyma Betrian in Boxing; she was injured during the OQT in Londen 2020, she did not get the chance to qualify in 2021, while she was number 5 in the world. Unbelievably unfair. Also beachvolleyball-team Varenhorst/Van der Velde, because of an injury of Van der Velde during the OQT last week.
  12. Well, my final prediction is 10 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze. And really looking forward to the 400m hurdles: so excited if Bol is able to medal in that event.
  13. 52.37, insane!! Just above the old world record. 400 hurdles Men AND Women will be highlights at the Tokio Games. As well a stunning time for Ryzhykova , 52.96 NR. She comes closer to Bol every race ...

  15. Well, bye bye to our chances of winning a (bronze) medal in the team event. The Dutch federation finally found the missing link for a decent team result, but after this misstep, we definitely can forget a medal. So Edward Gal and Hans Peter Minderhoud are searching now for a third rider. Don't know yet who qualifies as the third Dutch team member.
  16. Raisa Schoon (19y) and Katja Stam (21y) won the Dutch play-off today. Based on the results of the Continental Cup, they really deserved the ticket. And they did: 21-11 21-13 against Ypma/van Iersel. Very happy with this result!
  17. At the CEV Continental Cup for Europe won the last women's quota (after a very intense battle with Russia) and won the last men's quota (after a big fight with The Netherlands). I've seen so much nice matches this week, absolutely love this sport! Qualified for Tokio: Women: Ypma/van Iersel or Schoon/Stam (play-off tomorrow) Men: Heidrich/Gerson
  18. No idea if she's already healthy again. Last news about her was december 2020 (ACL-injury).
  19. Epke and Ranomi would be amazing, but both have to compete at the first day. I think Lobke Berkhout has a great chance, as well as Jean Julien Rojer (tennis) and Churandy Martina (athletics).
  20. Ah, now I understand. Thanks for your explanation. In that case only Koolhof and Rojer will compete in the men's doubles.
  21. Well, if that's the rule, you should call Bertens and Schuurs. They are good friends, especially Schuurs is already three years begging Bertens to play doubles with her. I think she would know that rule ... but maybe you're right. Then the solution is to withdraw Bertens for the singles.
  22. Dutch team: Singles: Kiki Bertens Doubles: Kiki Bertens/Demi Schuurs Singles: - Doubles: Wesley Koolhof/JJ Rojer and Robin Haase/Matwé Middelkoop
  23. The most fun for me would be a gold medal in track cycling men's sprint (realistic), a medal for Sharon van Rouwendaal (open water swimming, sort of realistic) or a medal in women's handball (not realistic though).
  24. I'll cheer for Pernille Blume (swimming), Damian Warner at the heptathlon and the women's volleyballteams of and .
  25. @NearPup @intoronto Given the disappointing results at the American trials on the 100 freestyle (women), is there a chance that Canada will make it difficult for Australia to win the 4x100 freestyle? With Oleksiak and Ruck that should work?
