  1. It's weird. When you open the Road To Tokyo page, the filter shows 'men's 100 m', while it is the women's 100 m list that is being displayed automatically. To display the men's 100 m list, you need to choose another event on the filter, and then choose men's 100 m again... I seriously believe this could be a case of forced gender equality creating a software bug...
  2. But now Armenia can enter an universality woman, as they did today in the 100 m.
  3. 6 athletes / 7 horses are listed on the nominated entries. But without the star power they had in 2018/19.
  4. Well, this is pretty ironic. Daniel Bluman will not be going to Tokyo because his horse was mistakenly listed as an American on the transfer deadline. https://www.worldofshowjumping.com/en/News/No-Olympic-Games-for-Israel-s-Daniel-Bluman.html Israeli team will be pretty weak now. Probably going for the 19th-20th place with China. Good on FEI to deny his appeal though. Anything else would have been a travesty considering Italy and Slovakia had to pay for the same error. @hckošice "The FEI also submitted exhibits of email exchanges indicating that they had always refused similar requests as that of Bluman." Yeah.... I can imagine Slovak federation was one example.
  5. Anonymous source? What is this, Watergate? At any rate, it's interesting how 112 quotas can be created out of thin air when football needs it.
  6. Central African Republic missing out would be sort of weird? Mauritania missing out not so much I guess. Neither country has entered any of the post covid qualifiers from what I can remember.
  7. Rank order bias. Performances can only ever be compared to the preciding ones, not the ones that follow, and there is a tendency in humans to overemphesize novel positive features (like for example when we are out shopping and comparing things). Another thing is that at a start of a competition, judges may be more reluctant to award minimal deductions. Of course these judges are professionals, but it can add up, sometimes resulting with athletes going late in the draw getting more leniency.
  8. Belarus - Individual eventing Aliaksandr Faminou (Martinie) Alexander Zelenko (Carlo Grande Jr) Athletes have the same name, but different (latinized) spelling?
  11. So I was late to find out that our team finished 3rd (!!) in the same tournament. Wow. Crazy that we made a podium in this sport. Too bad that only the Top 2 advanced for the World Cup...
  12. But then again, World Archery has a long-standing tradition of waiving that rule. So why stop now? But more to the point, MQS in archery is literally arbitrary and arguably too tough (same as in dressage). Chadian athlete has proven himself at the African qualifier, by progressing far and eliminating several athletes, and yet he still doesn't get to go? It's as if World Archery is half-admitting that the current elimination system is too much driven by luck. And now, both in archery and dressage, emerging nations are being replaced by pretty useless European lower-tier athletes (who themselves will be hard-pressed to achieve anything better than the athletes that got removed in their favor). Oh well, at least the fact that this* happened in more than one sport gives me hope about some changes to come... * Admittedly, Brazil really got removed from dressage for nothing else but re-defining the word "stupid". But still...
  13. I just love it when federations find a way to remove quotas from and hand them to the poor sweet .
  14. Japan- Team eventing Yoshiaki Oiwa (Tullyoran Cruise) Toshiyuki Tanaka (Talma d'Allou) Kazuma Tomoto (Vinci de la Vigne) Reserve: Ryuzo Kitajima (Feroza Nieuwmoed) I can see this team getting on the podium. Oiwa is looking great for the jumping phases, but in all likelihood, he will be waaaaaay down after dressage. Outside of Top 50, possibly, so only a dark-horse chance for some individual medal. Australia - Team jumping Jamie Kermond (Yandoo Oaks Constellation) Katie Laurie (Casebrooke Lomond) Edwina Tops-Alexander (Identity Vitseroel) Reserve: Rowan Willis (Blue Movie) Katie Laurie 'deflected' from New Zealand.
  15. Of course both our athletes are in the worst (1st) subdivision. It's kind of a running tradition.
  16. He also announced Belarus would host the Team Championships, but then Belarus started kidnapping people so it never happened.
  17. Yeah, we should definitely improve our last-minute qualification-fixing game. We used to be quite good at it (plenty of pop-up standards for 2004/2008), but I guess we reformed waaaaay too much... Whoa.
  18. Which makes Sri Lanka ineligible for the Tripartite spots in Paris.
  19. Meh. I hope all this mess doesn't stop the little momentum Irish dressage got on the wings of the latest pre-COVID results. Heike Holstein better deliver those sweet 8.5s for the extended trot next month.
  20. Ummm... So the appeal got dismissed after all. Curious if they will be taking it now to the CAS, as advertised earlier, as they are now again at a complete loss...
  21. Mario Deslauriers is another one of those with the fancy dual citizenship. His daughter is short-listed for the American team, in fact.
  22. #LetThemRide is somewhat trending. Not just today. The Irish dressage community has been upset about this from the get go. https://www.facebook.com/groups/334405444753672/
  23. Someone accidentally washed red and white flags simultaneously.
