  1. If the Trinidad girl was as good as she says she is, then she would have qualified outright.
  2. Well, Ecuador is in for a surprise this Monday when the sport entries deadline is reached.
  3. Germany - Jumping Daniel Deusser (Killer Queen) Christian Kukuk (Mumbai) Andre Thieme (Chakaria) Reserve: Maurice Tebbel (Don Diarado) The German federation is not even hiding it. They have confirmed that Maurice Tebbel will step in for the team competition. https://www.pferd-aktuell.de/news/aktuelle-meldungen/olympische-spiele/springen-kandidaten-fuer-olympische-spiele-benannt There will be a lot of this in jumping. Individual and team competitions will be held completely separately, with the individual jumping coming first. Putting in a substitution gives you a fresh horse for the 'main' (team) competition.
  4. There are P athletes (alternates) in many other sports though.
  5. One wonders how much of the NOC's budget went into this useless tournament... We know FIBA sets the pricetag high...
  6. I guess the traditional plentiful flower arrangements are not in the venue yet... Hopefully they didn't make some major budget cuts in this department.
  7. And just to emphasize, this is all publicly available info... For over two years... https://data.fei.org/Horse/Detail.aspx?p=7579F9AAF0CD23BF345B8DDC831F34BE While I can understand that athletes are not in it for bureaucracy, the federations (and indeed owners) have no such excuse whatsoever...
  8. What is happening?? Another victim of the nationality rules, and this one is from the big leagues. Dinja van Liere celebrated her selection yesterday like this. And today she finds out she can't go as her horse Hermes, is in fact, listed as German owned and therefore ineligible. https://www.eurodressage.com/2021/07/03/dinja-van-lieres-hermes-not-eligible-dutch-olympic-team-selection @heywoodu
  9. You never know. Maybe she will get the Maldives or Pakistan in her group. That would be sweet to watch.
  10. 49-51/339 (14.5%-15.0%) Athletics: 6/48 Basketball: 0-1/2 Boxing: 2/13 Canoeing Slalom: 1/4 Canoeing Sprint: 3/12 Gymnastics-Artistic: 4/14 Judo: 3/15 Karate: 1/8 Rowing: 2/14 Sailing: 3/10 Shooting: 6/15 Swimming: 5/37 Table tennis: 2/5 Taekwondo: 4/8 Tennis: 4-5/5 Water Polo: 1/2 Wrestling: 2/18
  11. One can argue it can be misused to induce calmness... The mental side is as import as the physical one, and it's easy to forget that the first doping case at the Olympics was a Swedish shooter who took a beer to steady his nerves. "Performance-enhancing" drug, it certainly is.
  12. No Olympics for Beezie Madden. Not an injury or something of that sort. She just decided, after the Nations Cup today, that her young short-listed horse Garant is not quite ready for an Olympic caliber tournament.
  13. Three weeks left to the Opening Ceremony. What better way to mark it than to watch this totally not propaganda documentary?
  14. Auferstanden aus Ruinen
  15. Ivana Maranić received a reallocation to compete in the women's +78 kg category. This must be the first time ever we have received some summer sport reallocation.
  16. Correct, as long as India has nobody else in those OST events.
  17. Universality athletes are only allowed to start in one event though, irregardless of whether they have OST or not. Invited OST athletes can participate in multiple events, but only if they get specifically invited for all those events. So to summarise, only the OQT and relay athletes are allowed to start in their OST events without special invitations. EDIT:. Ah, they changed it after Rio. Universality athletes with OST may start two events after all.
  18. Well, France will have a hard time defending the two gold medals, especially the one in team jumping, but also the one in team eventing tbh. It will be 0-2 medals.
  19. Sadly no. There are target numbers per event which can't be extended in case of double starters (only if too many qualify directly and/or with universality spots).
  20. 5 Artistic swimming 2, swimming 2, judo 1. https://www.instagram.com/p/CQx4okRsjrZ/?utm_medium=copy_link
  21. We have 57 names confirmed. I guess there will be another one in swimming, and then there is a small chance for basketball. But even if we qualify in basketball, it would bring the total to 70, which would still produce the smallest ever Olympic team...
  22. Félicien Muhitira thrown off the Olympic team. Can Rwanda even afford that? https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1109656/rwanda-athlete-banned-tokyo-2020-covid
  23. Bach will have a nice vacation in Tokyo, arriving 15 days before the Opening Ceremony... https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1109664/bach-arrival-in-tokyo-2020-on-july-8
  24. I guess the final team announcement for today... Switzerland - Team eventing Robin Godel (Jet Set) Mélody Johner (Toubleu de Rueire) Felix Vogg (Cartania II) Reserve: Eveline Bodenmüller (Violine de la Brasserie)
