  1. Briliant (first two) stories from Lauren Billys. I do recommend you watch them before they expire in 12 hours or so. https://instagram.com/laurenbillysshady?utm_medium=copy_link
  2. Easily the most controversial selection for these Games... I can see that Sameh El Dahan even got all the paperwork in order for Suma's Zorro, but yeah, could not break the wall of corruption...
  3. Our first athlete Matija Marinić (canoe slalom) arrived last week as well. However, apparently he is staying in a resort without an indoor gym... For two weeks... So any top result possibility is dead in the water now.
  4. This is tennis so it's not final. Danka Kovinić already withdrew. But I guess at some point replacements will start to be taken from doubles for singles, and vice versa.
  5. Now I'm curious, what fruits are considered exotic in Brazil?
  6. They have 3 in boxing according to the IOC Taskforce.
  7. I thought Instagram embeds were no longer working... But then I saw what @Griff88 did!
  8. Last time Cuba had less than 100 athletes was... Tokyo 1964, oddly enough.
  9. How can we embed an Instagram post to a post?
  10. Definite entries with listed reserves are now available here. https://inside.fei.org/fei/games/olympic/tokyo-2020 I guess now we know all the team members + reserves. But at the same time, I sincerely hope, in the case of Czech Republic, that Zvara is accidentally listed as a reserve due to an alphabet... I can't imagine any sane person putting him on the Czech bench.
  11. Did Haiti have some Olympic trials or what? So weird.
  12. Sad. I know it's beneath their pride, but they should have applied for a judo wild card following the historic win in Rio.
  13. I think it is a mistake from the ISSF. However, one has to wonder if they made a late change to fully enforce the rule of athletes not being able to earn more than one spot for their nation. It is already enforced for the individual events (and within most other sports). And it is a fair question. Should a nation be allowed to enter four athletes for the efforts of two athletes? Something to think about.
  14. No, only one horse per athlete can fly to Japan. Four athletes per team can go, but once in Japan, any swap would have to be athlete1/horse1 <-> athlete2/horse2. Several athletes have entered the quarantine with multiple horses, and some of them will basically wait until the last minute to decide who will board the plane.
  15. General At least one athlete will test positive for cannabis. Malaysia will win a gold medal. Archery Nicholas d'Amour (ISV) will place inside the Top 32 of the men's seeding round. Equestrian Australia will finish inside the Top 8 in all three team events. Henri Ruoste (FIN) will qualify for the individual dressage final. At least two athletes will take an unplanned bath on the cross-country course (i.e. a rider fall at water obstacle). At least 10 athletes will enter the medal jump-off in the individual jumping. An Asian nation will win a medal. Syria will finish ahead of Jordan in the individual jumping. Football Zambia will receive at least one red card in their opening match. Sailing Papua New Guinea will finish last in both Men's Laser and Women's Laser Radial classes. Modern pentathlon At least one athlete (male or female) will win less than 8 matches in the preliminary fencing round. Gymnastics - Artistic At least three athletes will fall off the beam during the apparatus final. Table tennis At least one of the following athletes will score a first round victory - Ibrahima Diaw (SEN), Yoshua Shing (VAN), Dodji Fanny (TOG), Hend Zaza (SYR). Batmönkhiin Bolor-Erdene (MGL), Sarah de Nutte (LUX). Australia will lose both opening team matches (men and women) 3:0. Golf Rory Sabbatini (SVK) will finish ahead of Ondrej Lieser (CZE). Shooting At least one nation will win more than one medal in a single mixed team event. Softball Italy will not finish 6th.
  16. Barcelona intro was a full minute long? Interesting how common rhythmic gymnastics and women's diving are for these short intros. I don't like the Tokyo one. Too virtual. It even features a freaking phone (!!). Ugh.
  17. It should be noted that two mixed teams per nations are allowed... Such transparent concession to big teams, since individual events (which allowed two entries), got removed in favor of this mixed revolution...
  18. And Russia most likely declining at least one spot.
  19. Entry list for dressage shows 37 women and 23 men, which is slightly more equal than in 2016 (39 W + 21 M). Eventing has 42 men and 23 women (Rio 2016 - 43 M + 22 W). As ever, jumping will be by far the most imbalanced of the three disciplines, 63-64 M and 11-12 W according to the current entries (Rio 2016 - 62 M + 13 W). In total that's 128-129 M + 71-72 W. I can't stress enough though that nobody in the equestrian circles pays much attention to these numbers. It is very much a gender-blind sport.
  20. This is in jumping. I think it's a mistake. According to their NOC, they will pick either Samy Colman or Boukaa El-Ghali for the final spot.
  21. FEI has a new Tokyo page with schedule, entry lists, etc. https://tokyo2020.live.fei.org/
