  1. Woohoo, tight finish considering Canada seemed to be in control the whole game.
  2. Swiss with a great shot, staying in the game. But here comes Canada's PP. Edit: No PP yet. Still learning doubles strategy.
  3. Yeah, it's not surprising they are undefeated, its more about them being the only one. It'll be interesting to see how things turn out.
  4. Interesting, the only undefeated teams so far are China and Italy (2-0) while the only winless team is Australia (0-3).
  5. Canada takes it! One bad shot in the 7th by Norway really lost them the game.
  6. Barring a disaster, Canada will win their match. Tied going into the 8th, but Canada has hammer and a PP.
  7. I was thinking that in the GB game and said it out loud just before the announcers did. They don't look to be working as a team. Way too many missed shots, botched calls.
  8. Hopefully that first game got the cobwebs out. They had it in the 7th and the 8th and screwed up both times. Oh well, on to the next.
  9. I feel so left out. Just kidding, all good!
  10. Well, I've already posted my thoughts on the Canada thread earlier. Originally I thought Justin Kripps had a good shot, but someone else mentioned Parrot or Toutant and I would go with that now.
  11. It's finally here! The first day of competition! I have a thing to go to tonight, but I will be with British, Australian and American friends so we will have curling going on the TV/devices.

  14. This was so tough to answer. If NHLers were here I'd say hockey just because it's always fun to see the best in the world compete against each other. I'm still going to watch every game - men's and women's- but it's not as special. I love short track, have since it first arrived on the programme. The new mixed relay will be very entertaining. Same with freestyle and snowboard, always so much fun to watch (especially cross). But I ended up saying curling because while I was always a casual fan who would watch the playoffs of major events, I have recently become irrationally addicted to it. I have been watching everything I can find from the past 20 years the last 2 or 3 months. I cannot wait until Wednesday when the competition starts (even though I have a thing to go it, it'll be playing on my phone for sure).
  15. I think these Olympics would be the time for shocking surprises given anyone could be out last minute due to Covid. A Canadian could Bradbury their way onto the podium if the virus were to take enough people out. Not that I'm hoping for that at all. I want everyone to be healthy and for there to be the best of the best in each event. Just saying, these Olympics are very unpredictable.
  16. I originally thought of Hamelin, but as others have said he has a busy schedule the next day. Dubreiul is an interesting choice, but he hasn't yet won a medal and with so many others who have them in their back pockets and are in Beijing looking for more, perhaps that would be an outside choice. With curling, I just found it hard to choose. Morris and Lawes each have 2 golds, Jones and Gushue each have one. I guess you can take Morris out since he's competing around those days, but then do you choose Lawes even though she isn't the skip? Your idea of a snowboarder is a good idea, but it's sort of another hard choice within that group. Parrot has a silver and is coming back from health; Toutant is a defending gold medalist; McMorris has two bronzes and had his own health scare before 2018. I wouldn't be disappointed with any of those picks, and like you said choosing a Franco is a good idea.
  17. You can also get a VPN and "be" in Canada to watch on CBC. Astrill is $20 for a month.
  18. We have been given information that the OC may be less than an hour long total. I'm not even sure there will be a parade of nations (the best part!). All information points to it being very, very low key. I wonder if some of it might be virtual given how bare bones the in-person seems to be. Edit: It has been clarified that the OC will be about 100 minutes.
  19. Wait, I'm just getting notifications now that Hockey Canada is going to release the roster in an hour.
