Kind of crazy, if the USA loses tomorrow and SUI wins then those two teams plus the winner of ITA/NOR along with CHN and ROC would all be tied for the last playoff spot at 4-5. I'm not going to go over who beat who, I'd assume they all beat each other.

5th for Canada. Great result!

Interestingly, the guys who make up the ski sprint team, Cyr and Ritchie, were born within 5 days of each other (Sep 18 and Sep 23 1998).

Canada will finish 3rd because they hold the tie breaker with the US. The question is, who will they play. Both SWE and GB are 7-1 and GB has the tie breaker. SWE plays ROC and GB plays CAN tomorrow. Interestingly, CAN could play GB in the morning and then again in the evening in the semis tomorrow.

And now GB has done the same. Canada has qualified for the playoffs.

China does us a favour and comes through in the 10th end to beat Swiss!

Despite ROC's best efforts, they ended up beating Canada. For those that didn't see the match, that was mixed doubles against Australia-level bad for Canada. ROC could have been up 4-0 after 1 but it took 2 horrible shots by their skip to give it up. A few other times ROC could have locked it up but they did their best to lose. Canada just wouldn't let them have the loss, though. It was really something to witness. All three teams in Beijing have been terrible. Gushue may make the playoffs just because of the logjam, but he likely won't win a medal. Jones will have to continue to fight just to make the playoffs, and again if she does it likely won't be a medal. And of course the mixed doubles was a debacle.

That was simply an embarrassing game by Team Gushue. The scoreline doesn't even tell the story. ROC could have been up 4-0 after the 1st end if not for two terrible throws by their skip. Could have locked it up earlier a couple more times but screwed up again. Canada did their best to lose, and they succeeded, just barely.

I swear, Team Gushue is trying to lose. Russia is playing horribly, and Canada isn't letting them be the worst team on the ice. Even the commentators are speechless.

The aerials team has a bright future, but unfortunately none of the men will make the final.

This is all very interesting because many say snowboarding and freestyle are North American sports, but they're actually the most diverse in terms of medal winners. Much more diverse than the various nordic events.

Semis don't count. Well, none of this counts for Canada.
