  1. Not a surprise. This will likely spur him to work even harder for 2 golds. He's gotten screwed out of gold at the Olympics before.
  2. Yes, exactly. Double standards. Same reason why Ben Johnson was globally shamed while they had to remove syringes from Carl Lewis' neck to put the gold around it.
  3. Olympic skip. Not that it worked out with Jones in Beijing (shoulda been Carey). I wouldn't be upset with Dunstone, but his three straight losses in the prelims does not inspire confidence.
  4. Awwww. I used to do drugs, too. PROVE ME WRONG CANADA! PROVE ME WRONG!
  5. So I have no confidence in the W or M relays going into Italy. They're like the American men in the SOG. All the talent in the world, should easily win every race, but get into their own ways. Oh well, hopefully they can still pick up some individual medals in February, and maybe a mixed relay medal, too.
  6. Wow, Homan holds on for the win. But the performance didn't exactly inspire confidence.
  7. Id be fine with it, but as I said earlier, I'd prefer someone who has been there, and won, before.
  8. No offense to Black, but Homan better win now. Same with Jacobs. I haven't really been rooting for anyone all week, just enjoying some curling, but now I will. I was stuck in traffic driving for the women's semi. But I should be watching tonight for the men.
  9. Wow, Gushue vs Jacobs finish. Wanted Gushue in the playoffs. But also glad Jacobs won because I want him to take it now. I also decided I want Homan to win. I want the teams that have momentum and have the experience.
  10. Perhaps unfairly, but I want a team with Olympic/Worlds experience. I'm rooting (mildly, because I'd be happy with a few others) for Jacobs. Wouldn't be worried with Gushue or Dunstone either. This is the same reason I'm rooting for Homan on the women's side, besides her being on a heater the last 2 years. She has 2 Olympic disappointments to make up for. However, I wouldn't actually be totally upset by Einarson if that's what happens. I think she has a good rink, and if she can beat Homan in a best of 3, then she obviously earns it. While I like Lawes, and she has 2 golds already, I don't think her rink is ready as a whole.
  11. Agree. Doing it on times is senseless since teams can draft off each other and work together in a heat. It has to be bracket system, but that would occupy more time. Second, it should be 4 skaters (2M, 2W), so that they aren't constantly racing to get back into position after their turn. Third, they should not do the push for safety reasons. The last skater should cross a line on the inner band, and the second skater should then start (they could work in an overlap so the second skater has a start). The pushing is just too hectic, especially M->W and W->M. But, at the end of the day, we already have this in short track. It's unnecessary here. Head to head pursuits are exciting enough for the long track.
  12. So you're saying there's a chance?
  13. Gold for Blondin! 4th for Maltais.
  14. Larmarche 8th in the 500m. Top-3 non-Dutch.
  15. Oh man, they beat the Japanese, but second to the Dutch.
  16. Six medals, 2 golds. Not bad considering the disasters that were the M/W relays. If they did this + something in each of those relays in Italy I'd be very happy. It all can't be week 2 in Montreal.
  17. These are the types of clips I show non-Canadian friends to prove that curling is awesome.
  18. My understanding is it's like short track, the team being lapped is told to move aside and the faster team moves past them. Unfortunately, I don't think there's anywhere to watch the B races. I remember last week lots of people saying this in the main chat. I looked for it briefly yesterday, but didn't find anything.
  19. I think he would have even gone faster if he went after the other guys. He had some in the tank. Will love to see him in the 10k.
  20. Great bronze for Bloemen. But wow, set TR and finish 3rd.
  21. Wow, can't believe Bloemen was beat.
  22. That's a track record, and only .4 off his PB. Holy crap!
  23. Fans are going nuts in Calgary? I'm going nuts on my recliner in Guatemala!
  24. Holy shit Bloemen!
  25. Maltais putting up PBs and winning medals at 35. The only personal bests I was putting up at 35 was the number of cracks in my knees when I stood up.
