  1. Long story short, I'm in Tahiti right now. I got to visit Teahupo'o, the venue for the surfing competition for Paris '24!
  2. I've not been paying attention, why is Mia Vallee not in Singapore? Did she not qualify?
  3. Chinese hotel restaurants get mysterious, yet incredibly convenient, performance enhancing drugs added to their food. Americans and Brits just get bacteria. Bad luck.
  4. Still mad. Stole at least 4 medals from Canada. McInstosh could have gotten 7 medals in Paris if the rules were enforced.
  5. Just to update on this, Canada ended up 3rd after losing to the Netherlands in the semis and then beating Poland in the bronze medal game.
  6. I live in Guatemala (though currently in Canada on summer break). Big game!
  7. Summer said she would do a 6th event (most likely the 200 free) if there weren't semis for the 200m events. Once again backing the idea of scrapping the semis for 200m events!
  8. Again, let's not forget MSH here. Her time would have been 4th in Paris and 5th in Tokyo. Another world class time for her.
  9. Not a great result for the M 100 Free. Third for Liendo, way above the cutoff for the individual race.
  10. Under the veil of the Summer hype, MSH's 2:08.78 would have gotten her 5th in Paris and bronze in Tokyo, Rio, London and beyond. For World Championships, bronze in Doha, 4th in Fukuoka (of course), bronze in Budapest. An absolute world-class time, and she's probably not even fully tapered.
  11. Me to the white t-shirt guy when Summer flipped into her last lap:
  12. SHE DID IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
  13. Just looking at his numbers here, with Canada he missed the podium in 2016 in the 100m free by just 0.03 (it does make sense that he finished 4th, since he was racing for Canada at the time). He went to Italy and didn't even get to race it for them in 202(1) in the 100, but he did in the 50 (but failed to move out of the heats). He did get a silver as part of their relay, which may have been his hope, but he didn't swim in the final. Canada finished 4th (OF COURSE) in Tokyo, and may have gotten bronze with him in the final for them. His 50 free time in the US is pretty good, but he hasn't made the relay team which is probably his best hope at a medal. Anyway, good luck to him. I also read by looking him up here his dad died, and the one thing I really remember from him when he raced for Canada was his connection with his dad (they'd give the middle finger to each other at the end of every final).
  14. I didn't realize Santo Condorelli was representing the US now. At this rate, he'll be representing North Macedonia in Brisbane.
  15. 100%. And they'll keep getting away with it because Colin Campbell is still in charge while his son is the assistant GM in Florida. He helps him cheat today just like he helped him cheat when he was a player. It's been proven in court. This would not be tolerated in any other pro sports league (even little league), but unfortunately the NHL is an old boys network full of corruption. I would never wish injury on anyone, but I hope Edmonton is ready to put these thugs in their place right away.
  16. Excellent summary! Short Track is doing a lot the heavy lifting here, getting over 50% of gold and silvers. It would be unbelievable for them to actually meet those expectations in Italy, but I'll still be very very cautiously optimistic. We'd probably expect more from mixed curling and men's hockey. Not to mention good chances in mixed events like team figure skating, team snowboard and team aerials. Lots of up-and-comers in freestyle. I'm also a bit more optimistic on speed skating than this table suggests. Overall, I expect a lot more than Beijing, and I'd be very pleased with these results right here (besides hockey). I really don't want to jinx short track, but man is Canada due.
  17. We just have to pray that Canada doesn't meet Denmark in the quarterfinals.
  18. And now they've beaten Canada! Congratulations to Estonia! On the flip side, Shame Canada. For shame...
  19. Just looking at the scoreline, seems like Canada had a good game against the Finns.
