  1. Three in the top 8. Not bad at all.
  2. NGL, love seeing the Canadians race against each other.
  3. You're right, and I was thinking it too after I posted that. I was thinking 1000. Which is probably also fine, too. LET ME FREAK OUT IN PEACE PLEASE.
  4. Crazy 1/4 of the women racing the 3000m are Canadian, with 3 of them being medal contenders.
  5. Don't even think he's going to the Olympics at this point.
  6. Like I said in the other thread. It's not just short track. Canadians just have a thing. It's like finishing 4th. It's a national identity.
  7. FFS, was about to win the whole thing probably, and slips. He might want to join the Short Track team...
  8. Alright, Dubreuil needs to recover here. Hopefully no one gets in his way this time.
  9. Kind of interesting, the top 10 had 5 Dutch, 3 Japanese, and then an American and a Canadian. Then it was China/Korea for the next 4, then another Canadian. So, 6 countries holding the top 15 spots, and then 4 other countries for the last 5 spots. Not bad company to be right behind Dutchies and Bowe, though. Nothing in stone yet, but looking good to qualify for Milan.
  10. Lemarche finishes 6th in the 1000m, just bout 2 tenths off the podium. Still looking good. 4th in the WC standings.
  11. Just seeing now that the Canadian women also won't be moving on in their relay. Awesome start.
  12. The last two Olympics were held in short track strongholds that had some.....interesting calls that sometimes hurt Canada (and some others). Sochi had its own problems, but Canadians could not stay on their feet after Hamelin won the first race. It was beyond normal limits for this sport. While crashes and bumps and calls are all part of the sport, I just hope it'll be cleaner in Italy next year, and the best skaters win most of the races. If Canadians stay on their skates 80% of the time, I'll be happy, win or lose. We pretty much saw both extremes of this in Montreal last month. The first weekend, Dandjinou couldn't stay on his skates past his first win, while he dominated the next weekend. And all his falls were unforced, no one around him. There's falls. Then there's complete inability to do what you've practiced for the last 4 years suddenly. So fingers crossed.
  13. This is why I'm so scared of what will happen in the Olympics. Could be 10 medals, could be none. Depends on the day. And Canadian skaters have a very long history of falling on the big stage (in every sport).
  14. How did we go from back-to-back golds (and 3 of the top 4 in 2006) to this?
  15. Another interesting question would be, who will win medals in the most sports? In 2022 it looked like this: Norway, Canada, Germany: 9 USA, Italy: 8 China, Sweden, Austria, France: 6 As long as Canada improves on its disappointing 4 golds to get on the leaderboard again, I'll be happy. Well, there's a lot more I want to happen to be happy, but it's a start.
  16. 5 medals (3S, 2B) with some PBs in there on top of that. Not bad. Edited to change a bronze to a silver. For some reason, I remember Maltais getting bronze in the 3000m instead of a silver.
  17. I mean honestly, just re-watch the race. Unless they miscounted the laps for everyone. In which case, I don't know what happens.
  18. Great result for the Canadian men! Weidemann just got promoted from the B division today and finished 4th!
  19. Weidemann just got promoted from the B group today and finished 4th!
  20. 3rd and 4th for the men!
  21. Yeah, it was all messed up. It looked like the American crossed first, but the times had Maltais first right after.
  22. What is the issue here. Those 4 were clearly in front of the others. How would they be a lap behind?
  23. Silver for Maltais? GOLD?
  24. Yeah, you can see he glided a bit to avoid him instead of skating.
