  1. Canada hands Italy their first loss ever! Dream start for Gallant/Peterman!
  2. Italy concedes! Canada wins! First Italian loss ever!
  3. Two teams scored 5 in an end in 2018 (Canada and China). Which means this is only the 6th time in Olympics history it's been done.
  4. A team scored 5 in an end three times in 2022. Once by Italy, twice by Norway. Interestingly, Norway scored 5 in the 2nd end against Italy, but lost 11-8. So, nothing is a given.
  5. That is very good news. As long as he's okay, we'll worry about his ability to compete later. Dude's been through it.
  6. Is it only for me, but is the CBC feed freezing and jumping around a lot?
  7. When I said I wanted Canada to play lights out, this isn't what I meant.
  8. I thought Canada didn't have a "House" this year? CBC misled me. I visited Canada House in PyeongChang and it was amazing. Got to rub shoulders with the women's hockey team after their gold medal game. Unfortunately, they lost. The only time they've lost this century. And I was there. The only time. Awesome. But anyway, Canada House was loads of fun.
  9. I have a family member who lives in Kitchener. I've spent lots of time there. I was supposed to spend this past New Years there, but got sick instead. Since we're bragging about travel, I went to Hawai'i and French Polynesia this past summer; Aruba, Barbados, St. Kitts and St. Lucia in December, and will go all over South America this summer (watching WC games in Argentina will be fun!). But I'm staying put here in Guatemala for the Games.
  10. Well, if they don't call headshots or attempts to injure, the gold's as locked for Canada as the Cup has been for Florida!
  11. Nice work! In regards to Short Track, it really is all or nothing. Dandjinou either wins his race, or he falls. Sarault is more consistent in terms of finishing her races, but not quite as dominant (though still very dominant). For the men's relay, it's either gold or fall. The team is superior to the rest, and the only ones that can beat them are themselves. That's less true in the Women's and Mixed relay, but I still expect the same. If they finish all their rounds, they're on the podium. Because this time it's outside Korea and China, I'm hopeful some of the more "interesting" calls will be behind us, but it's hard to leave politics behind. It's interesting that you say you were optimistic, and the totals show that. But I still think a lot is being left on the table. Lots of chances, but we'll see if they come through. Interestingly, Canada has won medals in 9 different sports the last 4 Olympics, and 10 in the one before that (2006). I feel like there are less chances in less sports this time around, especially with all the sliding sports off the table. Figure skating is yet again doubtful, too. We have outside shots in a couple of sports, and there's always a surprise (ski jumping and alpine in Beijing, Luge in PyeongChang, Alpine again in Sochi). Having lots of potential in lots of events can be fun, too. Unfortunately, I am very emotionally invested in Short Track. I've got the vodka on stand by, either to celebrate or cry myself to sleep.

  13. Thank you @Topicmaster1010 for doing this! 1. Gallant 2. McMorris Spalding 3. I will never bet against my girl Poulin
  14. Wow, Einarson came back from the dead there with an incredible last shot in the 10th, and then a steal in the 11th. Feel bad for Lawes, though.
  15. As a Habs fan, I'm sorry on a personal level that they're not going to Italy. But both Caufield and Hutson have been tearing it up since the roster was announced, and they are playing in front of Guerin twice to show him what he's missing. As a Canadian hockey fan, I'm also fine with these decisions. Never get in the way of your enemy making a mistake.
  16. Just want to point out that Canada also got 10 golds in 2014 (so this would be the 4th time they'd hit double-digit golds). For shame, CBC.
  17. For me, predictions aren't to assume who will win each event, it's more to have a discussion about the leaders in each one. Especially the sports I don't really follow, to know who are the favourites. Of course nothing ever goes to plan, that's why we love sports. I just use a good prediction as a guide.
  18. I know conditions in Paris weren't great during the shot put, but that would have won by 22cm.
  19. Like I said, technically possible. Just unlikely. I said the 20 year part flippantly, but I could see Toronto eventually getting a SOG, or Vancouver getting another WOG.
