  1. No worries at all. When I initially wrote that, I thought it was Siao Him Fa going for France. I later found out it is Aymoz, who is still good but not as strong. We basically want Georgia and Italy (and hey, hopefully Canada) to finish ahead of France (pretty sure USA and Japan will).
  2. It's not really about that, it's about ranking. Gogolev cannot finish more than one place behind the French skater. If that skater was France's strong one, that would be a big issue. Now, it's very possible.
  3. We'll get 'em in the playoffs. And hockey. And the other hockey. And the curling.
  4. So if France and Canada tie, France would move forward because they got 2nd in Ice Dance? That means Canada cannot finish more than one place behind France in the Men's program tomorrow. According to the start list, France is going with Aymoz rather than Siao Him Fa, so it'll be close.
  5. To maybe answer my own question, according to the start list for tomorrow, France is going with Aymoz instead of Siao Him Fa, so there's still a chance here. I don't know what happens if there's a tie for 5th, so if anyone would like to enlighten me.
  6. Out of curiosity, what happens if there is a tie for 5th place after all the short programs?
  7. So unless the French and/or Georgian male skaters screw up big, or Gogolov skates his brains out, Canada will likely not move on to the final in the Team Event, right?
  8. If I'm not mistaken, Canada is tied for 2nd because Japan is tied with France behind them. We can expect Japan to fly ahead of all of them, though.
  9. Of course they have to lose to the US. Now I get to go to work with all Americans. Luckily they have no idea what curling is.
  10. Thanks again @Topicmaster1010for putting this together! 1. 7th 2. Willy Dandjinou
  11. Top qualifier in Beijing was 164.75 (second was 160). It took 163 just to qualify today.
  12. And of course McMorris' replacement pushes Bouchard out of the final. One bad thing is not enough, it must double up.
  13. Aaaaaaaaand, the replacement for Canadian McMorris just bumped Canadian Bouchard out of the final. Because of course.
  14. Unfortunately, Spalding will not make the final. Bouchard sitting in the last Q spot with 161.25 which is insane as that would have only been 3 points off the top qualifier four years ago.
  15. Already 7 guys way over that score.
  16. Canada hands Italy their first loss ever! Dream start for Gallant/Peterman!
  17. Italy concedes! Canada wins! First Italian loss ever!
  18. Two teams scored 5 in an end in 2018 (Canada and China). Which means this is only the 6th time in Olympics history it's been done.
  19. A team scored 5 in an end three times in 2022. Once by Italy, twice by Norway. Interestingly, Norway scored 5 in the 2nd end against Italy, but lost 11-8. So, nothing is a given.
  20. That is very good news. As long as he's okay, we'll worry about his ability to compete later. Dude's been through it.
  21. Is it only for me, but is the CBC feed freezing and jumping around a lot?
  22. When I said I wanted Canada to play lights out, this isn't what I meant.
