  1. I can see the parade of Nations being replaced with only flag bearers or even local Japanese volunteers doing the flag bearing.
  2. The IOC should have introduced this rule months ago.
  3. Loads of people always pull of Tennis tounments up till the day it’s starts. Easy to see another 5-10 in both singles pulling out and 2-3 pairs in the doubles pulling out.
  4. I think the rowing heats will be something I will either record or watch on the Player and catch up before the opening ceremony,
  5. That is an interesting law. It wouldn’t be the the case here in the UK.
  6. I believe in the Uk all commentators are working from Salford (for the BBC) and probably London for Eurosport. However course reporters are travelling to Tokyo.
  7. I wonder if that is because more people would watch the closing love as it’s a weekend morning compared to the weekday morning of the opening ceremony. Here in the UK the opening ceremony is only fully shown once live and in the evening they will be 60 minutes of highlights. I can’t remember if in 2016 when the ceremonies were overnight were a full rerun shown in the morning. I stayed up and watched both fully live.
  8. How stupid do you have to be to take Meladonium.
  9. Through the closing ceremony is only live on Peacock which I believe is a streaming service?
  10. It’s good to see the opening ceremony is at least shown live in the USA.
  11. The Poor vaccination rate and still hosting the Olympics is making the government in Japan unpopular. Having no fans is one way the Government hopes to not get further blame given to it,
  12. Thar is why a new wave could be rather bad in America. 30% unvaccinated and most of those thinking the pandemic is over is a recipe for chaos.
  13. I imagine Sweden and Norway will also get to similar high numbers of vaccinated people. The Uk might just fall short of 90% - maybe the announcement of quarantine free travel will provide the boost needed to get that extra 1%.
  14. Eurosport has quite a lot of rights differences between mainland Europe and the UK and Ireland so could never share a schedule. And even when programming is shared all the commentary and presenting is different as Eurosport would never put out a dubbed feed in the UK.
  15. Doesn’t the feed have to change because of the language differences. Like when I go on holiday the German Eurosport is available in my hotel room but I can’t imagine they would air that coverage in Hungary with all the presenting and commentary in German.
  16. America might not have. The delta variant is already causing a rise there and they could never have got vaccine requirements for the crowds through as a requirement so it would have still been the possibility of an Olympic related surge.
  17. Probably in Tennis but the other sports the taking part is bigger than the crowds.
  18. I imagine the Eurosport schedules will vary by national feed. Like I can’t imagine Eurosport UK showing USA v Sweden live and letting the BBC (who have announced they will be showing GB v Chile) be the sole network showing the main attraction in the UK. I suspect Eurosport 1 and BBC will be pretty similar a lot of the time because I doubt Eurosport will want to miss out on showing live the biggest attractions in the UK. Especially as the BBC also have an online stream to take second biggest event going on at any one time as well.
  19. How does Surfing as a sport work on TV? Is it easy to watch or a bit of mess as sailing can be.
  20. Tough draw for the GB Men and Women’s, slightly easier for the Mixed.
  21. I am surprised GB did not try and qualify for the team event.
  22. America will surge soon. We in the UK are surging and we have 86% of adults having one dose and 64% fully vaccinated. America has a lot more unvaccinated including many more at High risk of serious complications than the UK whose over 70 vaccination rate has been incredible.
  23. I wonder if they will use fake crowd noise as other sporting events have used.
  24. I think it have a big impact on Tennis and maybe Golf where I can see quite a lot of late withdrawals and the tournament struggling to replace them. Everyone else will still attend because appearing is better than nothing.
  25. I suspect that will be the case. It would suit the Government as it protects them for a backlash. If they do have crowds and it backfires I can see the Paralympics getting cancelled.
