  1. This will hopefully be the last Olympics before I start work (I have been ill on and off this year so haven’t been able to search much). Sadly those illnesses mean I might not become as fully nocturnal as I originally planned to be.
  2. In the Uk it’s slightly better as the BBC is allowed one channel and one stream so can show two events at once and I don’t believe have a hours limit as it seems to be continuous coverage on both.
  3. While I can get Eurosport’s feeds if I subscribe to the Player via Amazon Prime I am going to buy a firestick to be able to access and subscribe to the proper Eurosport Player app (My Tv is slightly too old) and switch to Discovery + if needs be.
  4. I am going to predict an average of 2 medals a day for GB so 32 in total.
  5. Nick Kyrgios, Egor Gerasimov and Ilya Ivaskha have all signed to appear in Atlanta the same week as the Olympics so they seem to be withdrawing.
  6. How many sports do not allow a country to be in every event? I know Taekwondo does not it allow it.
  7. Why have DSD athletes only become notable in the last ten years. You would think it would been an issue since forever as it’s a natural condition.
  8. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/57652166 An analysis of Britain’s hopes in Atheltics (no mention of the the relays - 4 x 100m for women must be a medal contender as well. Because swimming and rowing finals are in the middle of the night Athletics will be the main focus of the press so a poor performance as it looks like it will sadly be will have an impact on funding in the buildup to Paris as much as they trying to hope it won’t.
  9. Considering Brady pulled out of Wimbledon with an injury I wouldn’t be surprised to see her withdraw from Tokyo.
  10. Will the BBC amend it now Nasser is banned for two years as her name is briefly seen.
  11. Apparently Covid cases have risen in the last couple of weeks in Tokyo - I wonder if we will see changes to the planned crowd sizes. It’s the Paralympics I feel worse for. The Olympics will go ahead no matter what but if the Olympics causes a Covid surge then the Paralympics might be casualty of a panicking Japanese Goverment.
  12. Remember CAS make it hard to put stricter punishments - they tend to overturn plenty of sentences and convictions as it is.
  13. I think that depends on what the press and public’s mood is after the Olympics.
  14. https://www.eurosport.com/olympics/tokyo-2020/2020/tokyo-2020-gold-for-laura-muir-double-silver-for-dina-asher-smith-predictions-for-team-gb_sto8223701/story.shtml This would precipitate quite a funding drop for Paris and LA - it will be quite a challenging decade for athletes having to try and get more private funding after 25 years of Lottery funding being the main source.
  15. I can see ROC maybe having two mixed teams as well.
  16. Apparently Norrie chose not to take part.
  17. Remember GB will not being having formal medal targets this Olympics due to the disruption Covid has had for being to able to compete and work out form.
  18. I think Svitolina will be next to withdraw now Monfils has pulled out.
  19. From GB so hopefully day 2 or 3 with hopes in Swimming and Takwondo.
  20. They will probably be Players pulling out till literally the day before the first matches - Easy to see it being down to half of the top 50 playing at best by the time it actually begins.
  21. Also I do wonder how many participants will be caught breaking rules - over the Covid crisis a lot of sport stars have come across as pretty idiotic and unable to follow the rules even when breaking them has consequences for their dreams and ambitions.
  22. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/57486942 The six day rule might really mess up Tennis and Golf where the participants are less devoted to the games.
  23. I have a bad feeling GB could end up with no medals in Atheltics with KJT and DAS underperforming and none of the other decent chances succeeding. Even no gold medals would see funding becoming a big issue.
  24. How can she claim she has never heard of Nandrolone. Considering how long it’s been about you have to pretty stupid to take it. First evidence of a silent ban? It’s been six months since she tested positive and had she won her appeal we wouldn’t have heard a thing about it.
  25. British Gymnastics is falling apart so not that surprising to get no medals. It be a big funding cut through if it does which might wel, wipe out the last twenty years of progress and the legacy of Beth, Louis and Max and all the other medalists.
