  1. So Ryzhykova improved by more than 1 second over 400 m as a 32 year old?
  2. Not sure why you thought that she would have a better chance over 400 m. She wouldn’t have had a chance to beat Miller-Uibo, Masilingi, Mboma, Naser or Mu. Now that 4 of them are gone, she would have had a better chance, but it will probably still take 49.5 to medal, which is clearly faster than her PB. Over 400 m hurdles she will win a medal if she can repeat a time of 52.5 or faster.
  3. Crazy to have Olympics without Turkey, Greece, Lithuania, Serbia and Canada. Never would have bet on Italy or the Czech Republic qualifying. Too bad that Germany will miss most of their players, but at least most of them are young enough to play in 2024. My prediction for the Olympics: Group A: USA first, France second Group B: Australia first, Italy/Germany second Group C: Spain first, Slovenia second Medal winners: Gold for USA, silver/bronze for Australia, silver/bronze for Spain/France/Slovenia
  4. For Schröder the insurance was too expansive, he also won’t be in Tokyo. Germany will probably be without Schröder, Theis, Kleber, Hartenstein, F. Wagner, Pleiß and Zipser.
  5. What do you mean with „against Germany, among all teams“?
  6. It is stupid to be that emotional about sport, but at least with a child it is somewhat understandable. I hope that those people aren’t serious, but I don’t have much hope. Sadly nowadays in developed countries it is almost impossible to be too stupid to survive.
  7. Surprised by Croatia‘s performance. Brazil might be the favorite at this tournament now. Germany hasn’t been convincing in their first game. Too bad that almost all nations are missing many of their top guys.
  8. I have bought them on holidays in France, but I have never seen them in Germany. Maybe you can order them on Amazon.
  9. I hope that she won’t be punished too hard. Many people have done something equally stupid and got away with it thanks to pure luck. She didn’t have any bad intents, she is just stupid. I am always annoyed by stupid people not realizing how stupid they are, but you can’t really blame them. If they would be able to realize their own shortcomings, they wouldn’t be that stupid.
  10. Makes no sense to use that pic to judge it. You have to look at the whole motion. He shot the Ball away and then the Ukrainian guy ran into him. Very unfortunate, but for me it shouldn’t be considered a foul. The German referee expert said that giving a red card is the correct decision according to the rules though.
  11. Horrible decision! For me it wasn’t even a foul.
  12. Yes, many results in recent weeks look absurd. Will be interesting to see how those athletes do in Tokyo. Will Van Klinken be able to throw 70 m in Tokyo and what will the Italian triple jumpers show? Some might think that this doesn’t hurt anybody, but I think this will mean that the standards will be at least as high next time and it also means that there are less spots for athletes to qualify via world ranking.
  13. So which 2018 YOG medalists have a chance to win a medal in Tokyo? I think the following athletes could do it: Swimming: Ceccon, Minakov, Kolesnikov, Burdisso, Milak, De Tullio, Kesely, Yang Junxuan, McKeown, Hodges Athletics: Díaz, Mu, Abebe, Mahuchikh Wrestling: Kozyrev? Diving: Willars, Lian Junjie Table Tennis: Harimoto, Sun Yingsha, Hirano Fencing: Ueno, Pusztai Boxing: Dubois Judo: Sulamanidze Shooting: Chaudhary, Bhaker
  14. Apparently this was England’s first ever win in ordinary time in a knockout match at European championships, so Löw got another record. Congrats!
  15. Many think that he should have been fired even earlier (after the 2012 debacle). It’s not just that he didn’t get fired, but that he didn’t have the decency to quit himself. If a Japanese coach would have shown a performance like that, he probably would have felt the need to commit suicide after what happened in 2018.
  16. Sidorova has a good chance, but not 100 % (thanks to Nageotte, Bradshaw and Morris). Shubenkov definitely doesn’t have a 100 % chance (not even close to it), thanks to Holloway, Ortega, the second American guy, Levy, maybe McLeod and maybe the Japanese guy. Lasitskene hasn’t shown much recently from what I recall, not sure how you get to 80 %. She will have to beat Cunningham, the two Ukrainian girls and the Australian girls. Shkurenyov 60 % is beyond absurd. I would say 30 % if we are super generous. Your last sentence is pretty comical, especially looking at the history of Shubenkov.
  17. Did this competition take place in Uzbekistan by any chance?
  18. I don’t really think that most German fans are too bothered by this. Most are just happy that Löw is finally gone. Personally I am glad that I missed this game, apparently I didn’t really miss much.
  19. Thanks. She will be replaced by Wattel from France with 53.32.
  20. I posted the men’s rankings in the „Swimming at the Summer Olympic Games 2020“ thread.
  21. Top 8 times this year of athletes who will compete at the Olympics (to the best of my knowledge): In events, where Someone ranked in the top 8 might not compete, I also included the 9th ranked athlete. Below the top 8 I added my prediction for the athletes who will make the final. 22. Are you trying to joke? Italy doesn’t come close to having the best depth. They barely have any world class players.
