  1. Althaus sadly screwed by the conditions. None out of Althaus/Kramer/Takanashi winning gold doesn’t feel right, but in the end ski jumping is always a lottery to some degree.
  2. I guess China doesnt have much experience with hosting Winter Sports Events.
  3. Lucky lead for Althaus. Bogataj and Maybe the other slovenians as well are better than her today, But they Messed up their Landings. If their coach Goes down a Gate During the Final round and allows them to Show a Better Landing, then they should win Gold and Silver/Bronze.
  4. They cant possibly be as Bad as the Ski jumping Camera Angles.
  5. Very disappointing result for Hennig. Only one competitive norwegian + some finish grandmas and Hennig still can't come even close to a medal. I doubt that we have seen such a weak field in a long time.
  6. You already mentioned Johaug and the russian athlete, but what about Stadlober? How convincing that "Operation Aderlass" caught some nobodies like Dürr, but by far the best austrian cross-country skier goes unquestioned ... ?
  7. I would like to see athletes winning a medal who a) Never won an individual olympic medal & b) Have been successful outside of the olympics & c) Probably won't get another chance to win a medal. So for example: Dominik Paris Dave Ryding Tessa Worley Manfred Mölgg Cornelia Hütter Stefan Kraft Tarjei Boe Simon Desthieux Dorothea Wierer Patrick Burgener Queralt Castellet Roland Fischnaller Cai Xuetong Ivanie Blondin Brittany Bowe Jessie Diggins It also would be crazy to see Lindsey Jacobellis winning a medal 16 years after she last won an olympic medal.
  8. Anderson, Gerard and Jackson all winning gold seems very unlikely. I think they could also win golds in men's/women's ice hockey, men's big air/halfpipe/slopestyle freestyle skiing, women's 2-man bob, women's slalom/giant slalom, men's 1500 m speed skating and maybe even women's cross-country skiing.
  9. Doesnt seem very likely. I am not an expert when it comes to american sport, but after some quick research i would say that 12 golds would be the absolute perfect case, so 10+ golds seem very ambitious. I would say 7 or 8 golds would already be a really good result for them. Not sure how many gold medal favorites the US actually has? Nathan Chen, Chloe Kim, Elana Meyers (monobob) and ... ?
  10. 1) Isn’t there a rule for minimum number of athletes required? 2) Wouldn’t he/she still have to finish the race?
  11. Doesn’t seem realistic for Germany, especially 2 golds in skeleton and 2 golds in snowboard.
  12. Japan Seems like a no-brainer choice. I could see Japan Winning more Golds than South Korea winning medals in total. Some „interesting“ thoughts i had recently: 1) It is not impossible for one out of Slovenia/Slovakia/New Zealand/Estonia/Hungary/Australia/GB to win More golds than one out of South Korea/Italy/Finland. 2) There is a good chance that at least 2 out of Sweden/Austria/China/Switzerland/France to win more golds than Germany. Doesnt Sound like a Crazy prediction, But the Last time any of those Nations won More Golds than Germany was back in 1968 (when Austria, France and Sweden all did it).
  13. I cant believe that there are people who voted for hockey... What is the Point of this competition without the NHL players?
  14. Ok, wikipedia only has Snowboard Cross results from the 2007/2008 Season onwards. Still remarkable that noone in the past 15 years was able to do it and then Martin Nörl of all People did it ... I thought that ist was rather Common on the womens side, But apparently there is some Kind of curse. I think on the womens side Jacobellis was the Last one to do it back in 2012, Since then Moioli (4 times), Maltais (3 times), Samkova (2 times) and Jacobellis/Bankes (1 time) all won 2 in a row.
  15. I just looked at past World Cup Seasons and i think that this Might be the First time ever that a guy won 3 World Cups in a row within one Season.
  16. 20 medal is realistic in my opinion: Bob: 4 Luge/Skeleton: 5 Ski jumping: 4 Nordic combined: 3 Snowboard: 2 Ski Freestyle/Cross Country/Biathlon/Alpine skiing: 2
  17. Chloe Kim (Halfpipe) Francesco Friedrich (Two-man) Eileen Gu (Halfpipe) Nils Van der Poel (10 k) Esther Ledecka (Snowboard PGS) Honorable mentions: Sandra Naeslund Sophia Goggia (Downhill) Marco Odermatt (Giant Slalom) Jarl Magnus Riiber (Both individual competitions) Marita Kramer
  18. 20-22 for Germany I hope for some surprising medals in snowboard (men's halfpipe/big air/slopestyle, women's big air), cross-country skiing (women's skiathlon) or alpine skiing.
  19. You are old enough to have witnessed the first winter olympics? Of all the winter games i followed, Vancouver certainly were the best.
  20. This is sad to Hear, But not surprising. Meanwhile IOC Officials fly with private jets and demand the Most expansive hotel Rooms.
  21. Overall the List isn‘t Too Bad in my opinion, although i would have picked different Athletes in Some disciplines, for Example Stolz/Wiklund in Speed Skating or Vinatzer in men‘s alpine Skiing.
  22. I think there are many reasons why western countries MIGHT be doing worse than asian countries, for example: - More densely populated - More travelling - Older population - Lower vaccination rate? - More people using public transport every day? - More averse to wearing masks? Of course there are also western countries (New Zealand, Australia, some scandinavian countries?) that are doing at least as good as asian countries.
