  1. I think the choice of music is pretty good in Bukarest and the anthems sound pretty good too, for example the british anthem didnt sound as annoying as normally, so good job Hungary. I think swimming still could make this more of an event, why not for example have a Starbucks and a McDonald's in there or a guy selling popcorn/hot dogs like in the NBA for example. If this should really become pure show, then they need to sell it like that.
  2. Why are you so angry, i dont get it? Are you pro or contra Efimova?
  3. Really interesting progression by the guy from Bulgaria, but in swimming no one even seems to care anymore, its like the wild west a century ago, you can do whatever you want. Russians also dont seem to give a shit, destroying their PBs left and right, but why should they, FINA and IOC sent a clear signal that they dont really give a shit either, just dont do the doping too obvious, because it will bring too much negative attention. I think they learned from what happend to cycling after Armstrong. People buy everything, they just want to be entertained, just dont catch too many (famous) athletes, because then people will finally lose interest. King is even worse than Efimova, worst possible result. With Efimova at least she doesnt deny the doping, you know where your at with her, but the way King acts, she must be very sure that she will never be caught, which sadly isnt that unrealistic, considering that Hardy was probably the last american swimmer that was (accidentally) caught.
  4. Thanks again. I guess i will wait till the end of this event then and just download one file with all the results. After all most of the top european talents compete either way, so i shouldnt miss too much.
  5. 1) My theory is that she competes in the 1500 m to get beaten, so that her 800 m victory wont raise as many eyebrows ... at least thats what i hope. On the other hand she might think "IAAF will soon force me to take my pills again, so i will try to win as much as possible as long as i still can". 2) You should keep in mind that she was probably in a much better shape when she ran 4:01, i think she ran about 50.5 around the same time, this season she only did something like 51.5. I also dont think that its a coincidence that (almost) all the high-testosterone female runners in history specialized on the 800 m, in other events its probably harder for them to do well. 3) I dont really have any hate for her, although it irritates me that she apparently decided to piss off twice as many people by doing that double. You would hope that she was more "humble", understanding her position and that of all her competitors. Its up to IAAF to provide a level playing field for all the athletes, its not Semenyas fault that they dont do their job. All her competitors shouldnt aim their hate at her, this doesnt help anyone. I hope that some of them "grow some balls" and protest the race, by either not competing at all or by just standing still and letting Semenya run her own race, as soon as she finished the race, all the girls can battle it out. Everyone wants more fairness, but no one really wants to fight for it/give up something for it. 4) Its funny that almost all the 1500 m greats (Hassan, Muir, probably Dibaba) are also entered in the 5000 m, apparently they try to run from Semenya, sadly the best 800 m runners cant do the same, because none of them would have a shot at the 400 m. I think Kipyegon is the only one of the medal favorites who will only do the 1500, so she should be interested in running Semenya out of her shoes, which is probably good news for someone like Muir, because Kipyegon probably wont be able to sit and kick like she did in Rio. I think womens 1500 will be extremely fast, even if Semenya wont compete, Muir basically announced that she will go for a much faster pace, not allowing something like in Rio to happen again. I think there are currently at least 5 girls capable of sub 3:58, so this could really be good ...
  6. Thank you very much! Any news on athletics? I have to say that its really shitty that i have to keep track of a dozen live results sites, this should all be on the official website. The official website looks nice, but really doesnt do anything.
  7. Any (live) results for athletics, judo and so on (not swimming)?
  8. It looked pretty empty in the morning to me, maybe TV just didnt show the right areas of the arena. I agree that it was quite full in the evening, so maybe "pretty empty" is not what it was, but i just expected that at least all the evening sessions would be sold out, considering how crazy hungarian people are for this sport. That is also why i asked whether maybe the tickets were too expensive ... ? I know that i might be a bit unfair here, because there seem to be more spectators than in many of the last couple of world championships, but for me it was no question that the stadium would be full every night. I think we all would like to see some of your pictures (and videos?), would be great if you could upload them some time later.
  9. And that is good news, because ... ? (Serious question) I dont think that Semenya will get the double gold and i still dont think that Semenya will do the 1500 m 100%, especially if it takes place before the 800 m. If this becomes another jogfest with a very fast 800, then Semenya would be the favorite, but if the girls go for sub 4 pace, Semenya shouldnt have a chance to win it. Muir, Hassan, Kipyegon and Dibaba all have a PB that is at least 5 seconds faster than that of Semenya.
  10. Sad that Germany is missing so many of its top athletes, for example Moguenara, Mihambo, Elbe, C. Harting, Schwanitz, 3 of them would have been medal contenders in top shape. Add the retirement of Obergföll, Stahl and Heidler and there arent too many medal chances left for Germany. I also think some of the selections are very weird: Küster (womens hammer throw) and Hering (womens 800 m) have clearly a worse chance to make the next round than Spelmeyer (womens 400 m) or Graumann (womens high jump), but nevertheless invitations for Spelmeyer/Graumann were apparently rejected by the german federation. I also would have liked to see some young talents in the team, just to get some experience, for example K. Kwadwo (in womens 4x100 relay), C. Schwab (in womens 4x400 relay) or Lita Baehre in mens pole vault (i think he didnt get the entry standard, so i cant blame the german federation here).
  11. Great work, i only looked at the german team so far and there is one tiny mistake: I think it should be "Fate Tola" in womens marathon.
  12. Makes sense. What about Ruck or Condorelli? Wasnt Barber also born in the US and spent most of his childhood there?
  13. Where did i say "Obvious dopes (referring to Hungary)"? You should try to be more careful with words. There is a difference between something not being proven to be true and something to be false. Nothing i said has been proven false, so nothing i sad was incorrect, which was my point, because the way our british friend spelled my username was incorrect (definitely false), whereas my comments might be true or false. Yes, i am 100% sure that every medal winner is doped, its impossible to prove it, even if FINA would be interested in catching all the cheaters, they couldnt do it. Where did i say that only people from poor countries win medals? You should really try to understand the full meaning of a sentence, before you reply to it. I said "People from poor countries ... have nothing to lose by doping", i said nowhere that people from richer countries dont dope. The stadium indeed looked empty in the morning, if you dont agree, then we probably have different views on what "pretty empty" means. Its great that you were in the arena on Saturday, but how does that prove anything? Didnt the competitions only start yesterday (on Sunday)? I know that i was definitely talking about Sunday, so maybe thats why we seem to have seen different competitions ... ? 5 euros sound really expensive, especially if its for the cheapest ticket. I have never been to Hungary, but 5 euros in Hungary are probably equivalent to 100-200 euros in Germany, right? How much does an average hungarian person earn in a month? 200-300 euros?
  14. Thanks Hosszu ... i protested your race, so i missed the coolest thing that ever happened in a swimming competition. Cant believe that the canadian girl just left the pool, what an amazing behavior, she must have been like "Nah, i dont have a chance, so i just quit and do something else".
  15. Where exactly did i mention her name in there? Its a difference between forgetting a letter and not writing this weird "u", i dont even know how to do it on my computer and i wont bother to find out. I am sure Hosszu will forgive me. Nothing i said is untrue, so i dont know why you would consider it disrespectful?
  16. Its "OlympicsFan" ... show some respect happy man! Of course they wont listen to me, i dont have enough money to change their opinion, thats all that matters for them. Bye!
  17. Is Fesikova one of those who were caught before? Smoliga seems to have a polish background, so maybe 1/16 medal for Poland tomorrow ... No doubt that Hosszu could have won a medal, still think that she should either swim all the races or not compete at all. In the official results you can see the second names of all athletes, but for Ustinova it just says "Daria K Ustinova", is K a common russian name?
  18. Very happy for Govorov. After everything that Russia did to him, he deserves to win a medal. Seems to be a very strong and smart person.
  19. I wonder why there are (almost) never false starts in swimming? Very annoying, false starts would add to the excitement.
  20. Ok ... overreacting much? This isnt even an olympic event (sadly), so ... I hope that FINA will listen to me: 50 fly/back/breast are much more interesting than 800/1500 free, FINA made a huge mistake (as usual).
  21. Cant say that i am surprised, looking at the behavior of most eastern european people on this board (you seem to be one of the very few reasonable ones among them), its a completely different mentality.
  22. Very glad to see that Hosszu scratched, the guilt probably got to her. Yesterday lapaj suggested that i shouldnt watch her races, by not competing, she makes it very easy for me. Even if i would like to watch "her", i couldnt do it.
  23. I (sadly) doubt it. She is withouth a doubt the most talented female foil fencer of the past 10 years, but german coaches are doing a good job of messing her up. She hasnt really progressed for the past 2-3 years, other girls who she used to beat (easily) at junior level are now overtaking her.
  24. Mens sabre ... for Germany ... at home world championships ... unbelievable. What? This is a disgrace, Hartung should retire right away, i am pretty confident that with me instead of him in the last bout Germany would have advanced to the next round. This absolutely must have been one of the worst performances in the history of fencing and possibly even all of sports.
  25. Coincidence that you visited my profile 14 hours ago, right when you wrote your comment? Sorry that i made a wrong assumption, would you mind telling us who your comment was about? Lapaj and I were the ones who were quoted most often in the hourse before you wrote your comment, so it must have been me or him? Like i said: You behavior is a bit creepy (no matter who you were talking about), but i think the one who apparently is the center of your attention deserves to know it (i think lapaj agrees on that one with me).
