  1. Didnt he say that he wont do the 200 in London?
  2. The third place finisher in mens 3000 m SC was an american named "Stanley Kipkoech Kebenei", he smashed his PB by 10 s at the age of 27. No one seems to care, but the US isnt really better than Qatar or Turkey. American athletes just seem to have the sense that its their right to be the best in the world, so they think that its ok to dope, this mentality is really pissing me off. Being number 1 is more important than being a good person, i think most kids are taught that from a very early age on and it helps them in many areas, but in other areas (foreign policy) its very harmful. You cant compare the doping of american athletes to the doping of russian, african or chinese athletes. American athletes dope because they think that they are meant to be the best, athletes from other countries dope because they want to earn a better living, so for me the doping of american athletes is much worse.
  3. Since Hassan moved to NOP, she got to a completely different level, guess why ... Impossible to be happy about Wilsons time, she has been caught before, but of course US athletics did absolutely nothing to punish her. WADA needs more power, so that they can hand out real punishments, instead of allowing all national federations to punish according to their own rules. Niyonsaba and Semenya still should be untouchable, but maybe Wilson can beat Wambui for bronze, dont know whether this would be something to be happy about.
  4. Thank you very much, very kind! I hope that she continues to improve, now that she can focus on the sport. Hungary continues to develop great talents, i dont think that hungarian fencing has much more money than german fencing, but their coaches seem to do a great job.
  5. Thanks, great work! So she indeed seems to have an interesting background and might have german "roots". I think from now on she will be my favorite fencer, as there are no german fencers that i could support.
  6. Thanks, any information about her family background? Any newspaper articles about her? Her surname doesnt sound like a typical hungarian name ... ? (Maybe it comes from the german word "Kreis", meaning circle ... or does the word "Kreiss" have any meaning in the hungarian language?)
  7. Is Argentina competing with its best team on the womens side? If so, then this was a very impressive (and deserved) win for Germany. Jamilon Mulders is doing an amazing job with such a young team, considering that Germany had pretty poor results at junior level the last few years. The winning goal for Germany in the quarterfinal was scored by 17 year old Camille Nobis by the way ... I having been saying it for a long time, in my opinion Germany will win the gold medal in Tokyo on the womens side, lets see ...
  8. Does anyone know anything about the background of Fanny Kreiss? I think she will be my new favorite fencer ... In womens foil i think Deriglazova should win the gold comfortably, hopefully ahead of Thibus, who is one of my favorite female fencers. Sauer did better than expected, while Ebert and Golubytskyi did very poorly, the same is true for the male german sabre fencers, very bad performances by all of them. German fencing is still shit and it will never change, not enough money and the money they have is wasted.
  9. Could someone please slap me in the face? I missed this, apparently amazing, competition! I'm extremely happy for Hausding, Rio bronze wasnt a fluke. He for sure isnt among the 3 most talented divers, but somehow his consistency wins him medals. 2 medals is the best the german team could have hoped for. GB on the other hand is having dreadful results so far, but we all know that they are already focusing on Tokyo and will peak in 3 years + they should win 5-6 medals in the pool next week, which is 5-6 times better than what Germany will do.
  10. You are talking about Jackline Wambui ... ? https://www.iaaf.org/news/report/world-u18-nairobi-2017-girls-800m I understand that it would make sense to have only continental u18 championships, that way age cheats can compete againt each other, while real kids can compete against other real kids, but ... wouldnt that mean that U20 world championships also have to go, as well as youth olympics (in athletics)?
  11. I agree, but ... a) Keep in mind that entry was free from day 2 onwards. On day 1 the tickets werent free and the stadium was almost completely empty. b) I get why they discontinue this event. Just look at the athletes in mens 3000 m for example, there is no way that any of them is even under 20. I think this might have been a test by IAAF, to see whether Kenya is ready to host bigger events. Next would probably be 2020 U20 world championships and then senior world championships a couple of years later. Kenyan officials are very aggressively going for it, as you could for example see at the opening press conference with Sebastian Coe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t98xRKyouUc
  12. Neubrandenburg is a wind tunnel, in a stadium this would have been 2-3 m shorter. I have no doubt that Perkovic could throw at least 73 m in Halle/Neubrandenburg if she would compete there in top shape with good conditions.
  13. Thanks for clarification. I dont think its official, but according to this article she only wants to do the 100 OR the 200 and she clearly seems to favor the 100. http://olympics.nbcsports.com/2017/06/26/tori-bowie-double-track-and-field-world-championships/
  14. 22.00 with whatever wind she had would be much more impressive in my opinion. Maybe she will peak in London, but running 22.5 somewhere at a small meet in Ireland is completely different than running the same time in London. I think there are 4-5 girls that are clearly faster, but then there are about 10-15 girls who are pretty much on the same level, so she should definitely fight for the final. Anything more would really surprise me, its not that its gonna be a tactical race or that the conditions could have much of an influence. I think in top shape she is 0.5 s behind Schippers and Miller and probably at least 0.3 s behind Ta Lou, even if all of them have an average race, while she has a perfect race, she should still finish behind them.
  15. I think its the 70th best ... behind: 17 x Sachse-Gansky 10 x Wyludda 9 x Hellmann 8 x Reinsch 5 x Costian 4 x Silhava/Khristova 3 x Savinkova 2 x Meszynski/Beyer 1 x Murashova/Jahl/Zvereva/Vergova-Petkova/Xiao I still dont get why anyone would be happy about this performance, considering Perkovics history, there is no way that she can ever become a respected athlete again. The fact that Kolak is even worse doesnt change anything by the way. Obvious ... is obvious!
  16. Germany will compete without Theis, Zipser, Nowitzki, Kleber, Mushidi and Hartenstein ... I really think that this team in full strength could have reached the semifinal, but with so many missing players, there is no way that the german team will finish better than 3rd in their group.
  17. Different times, athletics has become a much more competitive sport and countries like Jamaica have emerged as top sprinting nations. If Jamaica and the US perform at their full potential, than most other countries should have almost no chance for medals in the sprint. With the rise of South Africa it will get even harder, especially on the mens side. On the other hand it would be amazing to have runners from 8 different countries in the final and i think IAAF would also like that. Seeing athletes from Japan (Sani Brown), Italy (Tortu), Poland (Swobodo), Germany (Lückenkemper) or Canada (Emmanuel) in the final would be really refreshing. I think its pretty boring that in most sprint finals at least 50% of the athletes are from USA/Jamaica.
  18. Weird ... i just looked at the IAAF top list and it says that she ran 22.00 (+0.4) on July 8th in Ottawa ... did i miss something? If we assume that 22.50 is the correct time, then we would first have to know the wind conditions she had for her run, in order to judge whether she can make the final at worlds or not. I think she probably has a realistic chance, a medal would still be more than a miracle. Despite the fact that Felix, Thompson and Bowie all won't compete, she would still have to hope that at least one out of Miller, Schippers and Ta Lou doesn't show up that day and even then we would still have at least one american girl who should be much faster + maybe Asher-Smith. We should also keep in mind that about a month ago she was beaten by Ahoure in Stockholm and beat Haase by 0.08, which is not really a great sign of her strength, considering that Haase is only the 4th fastest german 200 m runner ...
  19. Nice to see that Klein won a medal in his last ever competition. The highlights of his career were probably the gold medal at the 2013 world championships and the silver medal at the 2008 olympics.
  20. Some interesting videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaazunECTQY (Training diaries with Aries Merritt) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxDjPO_w6cs (Training diaries with Allyson Felix) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fApj5HeTGic (Training diaries with Rana Reider) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytc5k4JB_ek (Training diaries with Ekaterini Stefanidi) By the way: Womens triple jump at the U23 european championships was the most beautiful event ever ... Rouguy Diallo and Fatima Diame ... wow ... !
  21. The european U20 championships overall wont be as strong as the U23 championships, but i think that in some disciplines the level might be better than at the U23 championships. In mens pole vault it might take 5.70 m to medal and in womens heptathlon it will probably take 6100 points to medal. In addition to that i clearly prefer Grosseto compared to Bydgoszcz, we can see the first international competitions of some future stars (Tortu, Ingebrigtsen, Duplantis, Raffin, Ruckstuhl) and the results will be pretty unpredictable, considering the age of those athletes. Sadly Tortu will only compete in one event, but there are other athletes who could win multiple individual golds (Sclabas in womens 1500/3000 m, Ingebrigtsen in mens 1500/5000/3000 m SC, Ruckstuhl in womens heptathlon/javelin throw). I think Switzerland might even win the medal table ... Italy looks also strong, they should win at least 3 gold medals, Finland also seems to have some nice talents, as well as Slovenia and the Czech Republic. About the U23 championships: I think only the following talents might medal at world championships in the future: Klosterhalfen, Can, Visser, the ukrainian girls in high jump, maybe Moser (unlikely), Kolak (of course), Warholm, maybe Heß or Babayev (unlikely), Bukowiecki (of course) I know its early to say, but if we look back at the results of the U20/U23 european championships from this year in a couple of years, we will probably see that more (future) stars competed at the U20 european championships that year.
  22. Very bad result in the womens 400 m. Müller threw away a safe gold medal in the 200 m for a silver in the 400 m. She has to ask herself how she cant break 52 s while running 22.65 s over the 200 m, she should be close to 51.0 s. It sucks that the 3 best 200 m runners are german (Mayer, Lückenkemper and Müller), but none of them even competes.
  23. That is very unfortunate. The german girl in womens 200 m for example got lucky, she was born December 28th 2001, so she just made the cut, the same is true for the czech girl who won the 400 m, she was born December 30th 2001. Personally i think its a stupid rule, if they are fast enough, they should compete. I would only make an exemption in the throwing events (except for javelin throw), just like in weightlifting for example, so that those kids dont start lifting heavy weights at a very young age. But what is the harm of allowing a 13 or 14 year old to run the 100 m? If you were born December 31 2002, you will be allowed to compete at the european u18 championships and the youth olympics, but if you were born one day later, you have to wait 2 years ... what a nonsense ... they should at least split those 2 events: youth olympics in 2018 and u18 european championships in 2019, that way those talents can peak at both.
  24. Amazing atmosphere! The crowd goes insane for womens 1500 m final. You absolutely cant compare it to any other international competition, maybe except for olympics, i really like Kenya as a host.
  25. Sad, there are already european u18/u20 championships, so nothing will change for european talents, i just liked that all those young talents from all over the world were allowed to compete against each other, getting to know new (non-european) countries and new cultures. Most of them will probably never get the chance to compete at u20/senior world championships, so this was a once in a lifetime moment for many of them.
