Obviously the most expensive signing of a Hungarian player ever. Hopefully this will turn out to be a great transfer for both Szoboszlai and Liverpool. Hungarian football needs to have true star players, and maybe we finally got one.

Modern Pentathlon at the European Games 2023

The fencing bonus round continues to be the most pointless waste of time I have ever seen on the program. Also, one of the fencers just presented how terrible this is: she just fallen down from a waaay too high podium. This shit is both pointless and somewhat dangerous. -
It also should be popular in Hungary, I mean, look at our results here, we are winning 8 medals in kickboxing. But I never see it on Hungarian TV. But you know what I see when I turn up the TV? The UFC. If I would be in charge of IOC, I would try as hard as I can to include mixed martial arts because that's actually something people are familiar with these days.
-
Yeah, it's not popular anymore. If any of the combat sports find a way into the Olympics, it should be MMA because it's the most popular non-Olympic combat sport at the moment thanks to UFC. But we are a long way from mixed martial arts becoming a possibility.

Btw, in case you want to know about which team events are likely to have an African team/quota... Men's epee - Egypt already got a very crucial 10th place at the first world cup event, I think they will qualify Women's epee - Egypt is good at picking up Top16 placements here, I think they will qualify Men's foil - 100% certain quota for Egypt. they aren't even far from the Top4 Women's foil - Egypt already skipped two World Cup events, which is a big mistake, because the number of teams is low, they don't need much to qualify, I think they will get this quota as long as they show up at the next 3 World Cup events Men's sabre - 100% certain quota for Egypt Women's sabre - weakest team event for Egypt, I doubt that they will collect enough points So... I think it's either 4 or 5 team quotas for Egypt. Probably 5, it would be very silly if they throw away their quota in women's foil by skipping events.

Based on the Olympic qualification ranking... one team. Women's foil. But it's still VERY early. I think you should be fine in men's foil and women's epee as well as long as you don't mess up at the World Championships. At this very moment the qualification ranking is a giant mess because we only had 1 World Cup event (2 in women's foil) and the continentals. African teams for example will fall behind once the continental points will matter less. Anyway, here are the teams that are currently in qualifying positions. This will change a lot after the World Champs. Men's epee - Women's epee - Men's foil - Women's foil - Men's sabre - Women's sabre - Women's foil seems reasonable as it already had two World Cup events. The other 5 are a mess. Italy will NOT fail to qualify their epee teams, that's not happening. France will NOT fail to qualify their men's epee team. The one thing that won't change is this: the US will qualify 5 teams this time.

Because of this weird split ECh I was wondering how the actual Euros medal table looks like (individual events from Plovdiv and team events from Krakow) 5-5-6 5-4-3 1-2-1 1-0-0 0-1-0 0-0-4 0-0-1 0-0-1 0-0-1 0-0-1 So a very dominant Euros from Italy and France, they won 83% of the gold medals and 67% of the medals.

Nice, we better win some gold if we invented this damn thing.
-
1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze and two 4th places for Hungary in the team events. I think we couldn't have asked for more. Thankfully I turned out to be way too pessimistic. Now let's do something similar at the Worlds.
-
I have no idea what that protest was or if the French can somehow still do something, but if not... FINALLY GOLD for ! Boys, please don't fuck up the qualification. This Hungarian men's epee team has such a big potential, they have to be in Paris.
-
Holy shit, it's true, they paused the final for 15-20 minutes because of a protest. What the fuck...
-
Now there's a rumor that France is protesting their SF against Switzerland for some reason, but that makes no sense, they already had a bronze medal match. And why the fuck would the final be halted because of a protest? What?
-
Okay, this getting ridiculous, what's happening? @phelps Do the Italians have any info on what's going on?
-
Passive timer malfunction in the middle of the men's epee final...

It doesn't matter which light comes first. If both light come up, the attacker gets the points. Who's the attacker? Welp, that's the real question most of the time in sabre because it happens really fast. It's easier to tell when it's a parry-riposte, but even that can be hard to see at times. At times it depends on who initiated the attacked one tiny moment earlier and even the refs need slomo video to decide that.

Well done girls, we needed this bronze a lot in women's sabre because who the fuck knows what comes next at the Worlds. This is probably the best outcome we could have hoped for now that Márton is injured again and Pusztai isn't having a good season.
-
struggles against , but wins in the end. upsets in women's sabre. v v

5 out of the 6 Hungarian teams in the Top4 at the Euros. It could always be better, but I can't complain, we didn't mess up our qualification chances here in a major way. Now let's collect some medals today.
-
It seems the top teams got their shit together in men's epee this time, predictable Top4. v v
-
Yeah, the biggest problem for you is that this means you will be 13th on the world ranking before the World Champs. Which means that you will meet or in the Round of 16, probably a live or die moment for you in the Olympic qualification and for the Hungarian team as well if we meet there.
