  1. Markus Segessenmann and Swiss Biathlon have parted ways. As a Swiss Biathlon fan, ouch. He has been with them since 2003.
  2. Good article about the improvements at Lake Placid. Also - this is an old French commercial with biathlon in it. It is every snarky comment about biathlon made by dumb journalists come true. I speak french, and still have no idea what the point of this commercial is.
  3. Per the USBA in a facebook post - "A1, 2 and 3 teams are differentiated by slightly different funding and camp structures."
  4. Gabriela Soukalova has announced that her ex-husband "swindled 10s of millions of Czech crowns" from her. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
  5. I think it has to do with funding and guarenteed starts on the WC circuit. if you look at this past season, Paul Schommer, although I love his Youtube channel where he and Jake Brown have so really fun an interesting behind the scenes things, was #4 on the men's team. Maddie Phaneuf also had a strong IBU Cup season, but she was #5 on the women's team, same with Max Durtschi.
  6. US Team Announced: National A1 Team Clare Egan (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) Susan Dunklee (Craftsbury, Vt.) Sean Doherty (Center Conway, N.H.) National A2 Team Jake Brown (St. Paul, Minn.) Leif Nordgren (Hinesburg, Vt.) National A3 Team Joanne Reid (Grand Junction, Colo.) Deedra Irwin (Pulaski, Wis.) National B Team Maddie Phaneuf (Old Forge, N.Y.) Paul Schommer (Appleton, Wis.) Max Durtschi (Ketchum, Idaho) National X Team Chloe Levins (Rutland, Vt.) Vaclav Cervenka (Grand Rapids, Minn.) Junior National Team Helen Wilson (Eagle River, Alaska) Cale Woods (Bozeman, Mont.) Maxime Germain (Anchorage, Alaska)
  7. The IBU has announced that the earliest that the RBU could be considered for full membership will be Dec 2022.
  8. Natalia Ushkina -more about her story. “The result has become high only this year. This was not the case that year, but now there is a breakthrough. Last year I was invited to the Romanian national team, all this time the documents were being made, I just waited. I was released from Russia, given the go in advance. I have already decided everything and I am not going to stay in Russia. In May, the issue of contracts will be resolved. I do not regret that I moved to Romania. If there is an offer you can’t refuse? No, I won’t accept it anyway. All is decided”.
  9. RBU head coach Valery Polkhovsky will step down on 1 June for health reasons. An interesting opinion on the success of Norway and how biathlon could go the way of nordic skiing. If Germany and Russia do not have a strong season, the TV rights could diminish. Essentially, a league with one dominant team (Norway) is not a good business model.
  10. Natalia Ushkina, who won the Russian Pursuit and 2nd in the Mass Start will be racing for Romania next season.
  11. French Junior biathlete Peirre Monney, who had podiums in the IBU Junior Cups has announced his retirement from biathlon at the age of 22. In Russia both Ekaterina Yurlova-Percht and Kristina Reztsova have been listed in the potential WC biathletes for next season. Both were on maternity leave this season. 13. I kind of wondered the same thing. How is he still ahead of either of the Andersen brothers?

  17. US Biathlon National Championships Sprint results here Officially - Joanne Reid and Scott Lacy are the Sprint National Champions.
  18. The only WC biathlete at the US Nationals is Joanne Reid.
  19. Any other retirements? Ondřej Moravec and Arnd Peiffer. Does Andrejs Rastorgujevs retire instead of facing a ban?
  20. Norway cancelled their National Championship this week, but I know the Ukraine and United States are having theirs. 21. Alpencup #5 was this weekend. 6 Nations were present - (Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Croatia and Mexico) I love that Mexico was there. Results from the Sprint are here. All I can say is that Mexico has only one way they can go. Results from the Super Individual are here.
  22. Slettlemark with 1 miss. She leaves shoot 2 in 46th place. Eckhoff gets ahead of Wierer.
  23. Slettemark clean on the prone. Could she earn points today? The only way would be for her to go 10 for 10.
