  1. Yea not a big fan of the one offs. At a minimum 2 to 3 cycles for the individual sports.
  2. THey are considered as "Senior B", which is where the B comes from
  3. Final sports program should be determined on Oct 3-4 in Paraguay (Panamsports General Assembly)
  4. So sad she couldn't do this at the Olympics
  5. Next on the list is shooting, with 15 gold medals up for grabs. You would think they'd do their research...
  6. WOmen's baseball deserves a spot? lol There is not enough depth to justify it having a permanent spot. This is why the WBSC went went baseball for men and softball for women
  7. Forgot to add: Quota increases in Athletics to allow for each country to send at least one male and one female. Quota savings to be used for increase universality quotas. It seems each cycle the number keeps dropping.
  8. I don't want it to be removed based on your reasons, but in the IOC's eyes field hockey is in the lowest category in terms of revenue, popularity etc. Ideally the IOC increases its quota of 10,500, but it won't, so a team sport would have to go to make the quotas available for individual events. The sole reason is to have quotas redistributed. When wrestling was dropped a few years ago, it was in the bottom 3 with field hockey and MP. I wonder if Paris 2024 changes the rankings of sports. Water polo is the least popular (I think?) of all the team sports but gets a pass because its part of World Aquatics.
  9. My program review: Aquatics: Remove 800m freestyle for men and women. Archery: No changes Athletics: Get rid of the two mixed events, replace with a cross-country event for men/women (no new quotas, anyone who qualifies for steeplechase/5000/10000 can compete) Badminton: No changes Boxing: Change the scoring system 3x3 basketball: Increase to 12 teams per gender. Basketball: No changes Canoeing Sprint: Added a third canoeing event for men/women but no increase to quota Canoeing slalom: In an ideal world we'd drop this discipline, but for now no changes. Cycling: Add a second event for Mountain biking with no new quotas Equestrian: Its 2024, drop the sport. Why does MP need to when there is a whole sport that uses horses? Fencing: No changes to the events, but the qualification system needs to change to award continental quotas first in team events, then the top 4 remaining teams Field hockey: In an ideal world its dropped, but for now no changes. (In an ideal world water polo would go, but FINA is one of the top federations, so it won't) Golf: I don't think this sport needs a mixed event, but it will likely get it for 2028 Gymnastics: Quota cuts to Artistic and Rhythmic. No changes to events Handball: No changes Judo: No changes MP: NO changes Rowing: I wouldn't make changes, but LW events will be replaced Rugby sevens: No changes Sailing: Major quota cut, hardest sport to follow. Shooting: No changes, maybe some quota cuts Skateboarding: Id bring the quotas back down to 20 per event. Soccer: Men's teams down to 12, to make it uniform across the board. Surfing: Id personally remove this sport. Table tennis: Quota cuts, 67 in each singles event is way too much Taekwondo: No changes Tennis: No changes Triathlon: Quota cuts. 48 per field is more than enough Volleyball: No changes Weightlifting: No changes Wrestling: Remove Greco-Roman wrestling
  10. Yea. I also never understood why they don't allow countries who qualify 2 in the individual event the option to pair up in synchro.
  11. A more detailed write may come later but I'd drop at least one team sport and redistribute those quotas to individual sports.
  12. There will be a third one open in 2026 in Edmonton
  13. Imo the IOC will announce a set of rotating hosts for the Winter Olympics soon-ish
  14. That was suggested but apparently the IOC has this fascination of holding an event outside the country
  15. Yes we will Both endurance teams + one male athlete in sprint.
  16. Some of the HP nominations divided by A B and C groups for the upcoming season https://nordiqcanada.ca/wp-content/uploads/OLY-NST-and-AAP-Synopsis-2024-25-1.pdf
  17. Alpine team for 2024-2025 named: https://alpinecanada.org/news/athletes-nominated-to-2024-25-canadian-ski-team (Included is ski cross, which falls under alpine for Canada)
  18. The IOC stated the following: - Only 4 countries have won medals in the last 3 cycles - Lowest viewership (by far) of any sport. Highly unlikely this changes for 2026, and its likely the sport will be removed.
  19. "7 in 10 Canadians (27 million) tuned into the extensive television coverage of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 broadcast by CBC/Radio-Canada and its partners over 17 days, with record-breaking audiences also coming to digital platforms, demonstrating the enduring appeal and relevance of the Olympic Games in Canada." This is an unreal statistic! Source: CBC
  20. Flavie Aumond, only 21 has retired. She is a former world junior champion in aerials and competed in Beijing Simon d'Artois has also retired, was a former silver medalist at the WC's in 2021
