  1. Some positive news about the last Pan American Games in 2015: 2015 Pan American Games Under Budget by $38 Million https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/2015-pan-american-games-under-budget-by-38-million-814232400.html
  2. Team Canada with 46 athletes. Not a bad team, but a few bigger names missing (De Grasse, Stafford, Bishop etc.) https://olympic.ca/press/athletics-canada-selects-46-athletes-to-join-team-canada-at-the-2019-pan-american-games/
  3. Hopefully New Zealand, I think that would be the best case scenario (they tied at the 2018 CWG)
  4. Lol Own the Podium funded the women till 2016, while the men go no funding, and now four years later its the opposite, with the women looking like the better team
  5. Canada named its rowing and cycling team and both are well below the quality in 2015, sad. Athletics team of 46 named as well and a lot of big names missing as well, but some quality.
  6. https://swimswam.com/brazilian-sprinter-gabriel-santos-tests-positive-for-anabolic-steroid/ down to 34 swimmers now...
  7. The IOC really frustrates me. Limiting the amount of athletes per game to the 10,500 will not work. The last three Olympics have had 11,000+ athletes. Now we are going to end up with further cuts in established sports, with some sports already going to the extremes in qualification (those athletic standards are really hard10
  8. Final swimming quotas (not including open water). @vinipereira Entries close tomorrow, so if any changes happen, its likely a team's size is smaller. About 24 quota spots are still missing and I am not sure if they will be allocated. +2 +17 +3 +10 +5 +3 +4 +35 +16 +3 +9 +14 +3 +12 +2 +9 +3 +2 +4 +2 +2 +7 +2 +22 +4 +9 +9 +30 +7 +1 +2 +2 +6 +36 +5 +21 +3 =326
  9. It looks like we have our first official team announcement. will have 4 athletes. https://bvinews.com/four-locals-qualify-for-2019-pan-am-games/
  10. The point Im trying to make is Italy depends on "newer" events as much as Canada/USA. Italy's success isn't exclusive to "traditional events"
  11. Which is why Italy depended on half its medals for non-traditional events in 2018?
  12. Less likely. Why would they do a dual bid and leave one bid without a games? With 2 bids it makes sense.
  13. USA women's team will be good: https://usagym.org/pages/post.html?PostID=24027
  14. https://olympic.ca/2019/06/23/team-canada-finishes-with-five-medals-from-the-rowing-world-cup/ The Canadian men's 8 is back in rowing ?
  15. 37 countries will enter swimmers. and will be the only ones without swimmers.
  16. Unless athletics team increases from a quota of 45, the overall team size will be 488, slightly smaller then the last non-home games in 2011. However, many quotas were declined, so this could have easily been over 500 athletes. Not too bad.
  17. I am sure the IOC prefers Sweden over Italy, but logically Italy does have the best bid. So how do you vote? The best bid does not win everytime...
  18. A lot of the announcers go games to games. Figure skating at the Olympics for the last 3 cycles has been done for same person. Basketball announcer at Toronto 2015 will be in Lima and there are many other examples Im sure. So you may be right
  19. tracker Pretty much all the big names are there except a couple (DeGrasse, Ahmed). Some of the highest ranked Canadians are not listed either...
  20. Are all the best athletes named to the team?
