  2. I suspect the IAAF changed the rules to include more athletes. Canada named 7 athletes each for its two relays.
  3. Yea and it seemed like almost all universality eligible countries got 2 quotas.
  4. Won't be decided till after competition starts.
  5. Cook Islands 6 Athletics 1 Canoeing sprint 2 Canoeing slalom 1 Swimming 2 https://www.cookislandsnews.com/internal/sport/other-sports/kayakers-eye-olympic-debut/ Panama 10 Athletics 4 Boxing 1 Cycling 1 Swimming 2 Judo 2 https://www.archysport.com/2021/07/laurentino-cortizo-flags-the-panamanian-delegation/ Singapore 23 Athletics 1 Badminton 2 Diving 2 Equestrian 1 Fencing 2 Gymnastics Artistic 1 Rowing 1 Sailing 4 Shooting 1 Swimming 4 Table tennis 4 https://www.straitstimes.com/sport/athletics-sprinter-shanti-pereira-bound-for-the-tokyo-olympics-on-wild-card Also, Bermuda was linked earlier in this thread. Their team of two athletes is confirmed.
  6. 4 probably includes officials. I suspect it will be just one track and field, at most 2
  7. Spoke with the OC they claim a delegation of 4 is going to Tokyo.. asked for more information on which sport(s)
  8. Where is the ko draw for singles?
  9. 371 + 9 alternates in team sports
  10. Hoping for a minimum 4 wins across all 5 events for Canadians. I think Michelle Li should win both her matches, Brian Yang should win at least one, and the women's doubles pair should beat Egypt. There is a chance for them to even beat Netherlands (their only other meeting, Canada won). Would be amazing for the women's doubles to make the knockout stage. Also for the KO round is it simply AvB, Cvd onward?
  11. So Courtney Stott and Lissa Bissonnette are not officially on the team in canoeing
  12. What a mess Canoeing is becoming lol -2 in canoeing @Benolympique
  13. One tripartie athlete guaranteed win xd
  14. If I am not mistaken 3 out of the bottom 4 seeds are in the same group in WD?
  15. Been told July 13th is when their "info" system goes live so around there or after we should see the website getting updates to athletes etc.
  16. You mean c2? Well if they get an extra spot for Laurence (which they seem to think they will) that is enough for a C2. Also they did not get an extra spot in kayak. They named a reserve to the team... which I believe is Courtney Stott.
  17. Canoe Kayak Canada petitioned for an extra Olympic spot that would allow her to compete in the singles event and in the doubles with Vincent. But the International Olympic Committee still hasn't responded to the request. So, with the Tokyo Games now just over two weeks away, the Canadian governing body came up with a workaround that it revealed today: in the event that the IOC doesn't end up granting Vincent Lapointe the extra spot, Canada will reallocate one of its women's kayak berths to her for canoe — based on the determination that she has a better shot at gold than the kayaker it would have went to.
  18. Canada qualified 373 athletes + 9 alternates in team sports per the new IOC rule for these games, for a total of 382 athletes (149 men and 233 women). This is the third largest amount of athletes Canada has qualified for one games after Montreal 1976 and Los Angeles 1984. This means this is the largest team ever qualified excluding hosting or boycotted games. Barring any last minute reallocation, this should be the final team size. Sport by sport breakdown: Archery 2 Artistic swimming 8 Athletics 57 Badminton 8 Basketball 12 Boxing 5 Canoeing 20 (Sprint 16, Slalom 4) Cycling 23 (Road 5, MTB 3, BMX 2, Track 13) Diving 10 Equestrian 6 (Dressage 3, Eventing 2, Jumping 1) Fencing 9 Field hockey 18 (16+2) Golf 4 Gymnastics 7 (Artistic 5, Trampoline 2) Judo 6 Karate 1 Rowing 29 Rugby sevens 26 (24+2) Sailing 9 Shooting 1 Skateboarding 3 Soccer 22 (18+4) Softball 15 Sport climbing 2 Swimming 26 Table tennis 3 Taekwondo 2 Tennis 6 Triathlon 4 Volleyball 16 (Indoor 12, Beach 4) Water polo 13 (12+1) Weightlifting 5 Wrestling 4

  20. But the quota would be redistributed to not if for any reason can't comepte?
  21. Canoe Kayak Canada's] stated performance objective in its stated criteria was to win two to three medals at the Games, and so with that ability in the selection criteria we were able to put a process in place that if the IOC says no to the additional spots, the alternate mechanism is available and [Vincent Lapointe's] place on the Olympic team is guaranteed," said CKC lawyer Adam Klivenas and this still doesn't explain how the got an extra spot in kayak
  22. 1. Who were the most unexpected Qualifiers(Team/Individual) from your nation? Team - I think all 8 teams that qualified were expected to qualify, except men's rugby sevens. They only lucked out because the USA qualified earlier. Individually, Mandy Bujold, I had 0 faith in our her CAS battle. Good for her to go and win. 2.Which athletes/teams ' not qualifying from your nation hurt you the most? -Men's beach volleyball -Men's basketball -Men's baseball -Men's football (this one hurt, as the team was very good) -Women's field hockey (last couple of years the team has risen nicely, only to lose on PK's to go to the Olympics) -Archery men's team. Very good in 2019, and then one member took of 2020 because of covid and they never really recovered. -Adam Keenan in men's hammer. One spot from qualifying, and a tripartie spot "stole" his spot. Why couldn't the IAAF make him run the 100? :P -Mixed relay, Women's 4x100 and possibly men's 4x400 relay all were really screwed with covid. -Derek Drouin's comeback attempt falling short. -Jeremy Chartier in trampoline losing out because he couldn't attend the Pan Ams due to Covid. Also because Egypt was given a free quota for the first time ever. -Men's 3m sprinboard synchro due to an injury to Philip Gagne. If he was able to compete, a full diving team likely would have qualified. -Equestrian team jumping, cleared of doping, but still lost the team quota. -Fencing epee loss in the last match at Pan Am qualifiers -Missed out in qualifying a second male and fifth female in artistic gymnastics due to covid 19 pull out -Losing 2 quotas in judo because of covid19/injury and a third due to pregnancy (which also cost an opportunity to compete in the team event) -Melissa Bratic in Karate, one match from qualifying. Hayaa Jumaa, surviving a severe accident to missing out by a match too. -
  23. Team Canada Joanna Brown (Carp, ON)Amélie Kretz (Blainville, QC)Tyler Mislawchuk (Oak Bluff, MB)Matt Sharpe (Victoria, BC)
  24. Yea there is no explanation on the two extra quotas.
  25. From her sm feed she was training hard
