  1. Yolanda Ramírez (90 y/o), tennis player. 1958 women's doubles French Open Champion (alongside Rosa Maria Reyes who died a year ago), two times singles finalist in the same tournament (1960, 1961) and winner of another 29 singles and 3 doubles titles. 3 times champion in mixed doubles at the PanAm Games (1955-1963), 3 times silver medalist in singles (1955-1963), one gold and one bronze in women's doubles (1959-1963)
  2. I couldn’t believe when I read it, but some good news for the U-18 I hope they can maintain Division IIB next year.
  3. Just to tell you Brazil and Mexico appear twice on women foil, & should get the other spots. Also I believe I read on qualification manual that athletes can’t win more than one quota. So should either get epée or foil, as both were obtained by Schembri.
  4. I hope she’s feeling better today and that tomorrow she can return to compete.
  5. She was indeed, I’m glad for her as she was close four years ago and promised to do her best next time which she did. Not surprised about the number of Mexicans. After the 2018 Winter Games, cross country as a discipline grew the number of skiers and fans.
  6. Yes, we currently have one woman and one man quota in Alpine, but I think they only be given official status if they keep their FIS Points until the end of qualification period, while now we have a man and woman already achieving the basic quotas in cross country. Edit: although they too need to keep their FIS points under 350.00 (achievable, not certain).
  7. The qualification document list the qualification races as a direct way to achieve the basic quota, so maybe this time they will take the points directly from the race.
  8. will attempt to return to the Winter Olympics, with a male competitor trying to achieve the requirements tomorrow.
  9. And Taiwan makes it to the tournament.
  10. Nicaragua qualifies Another humiliation for host Taiwan, who still gets to play Spain for the other ticket.
  11. Do you think Taiwan can beat Nicaragua?
  12. You mean the Caribbean Spanish Empire?
  13. And suddenly your NOC finishes day 1 in third place in the medal table I see what you did there
  14. For those who have not yet hear, almost two weeks ago, a group of Mexican creators, led by a trans-woman, released on Youtube their own"homage" to Emilia Pérez, called "Johanne Sacrebleu". On their own words, it's a film "about France and French society, made by people who have never lived in France nor speak French", a clear allusion to the overall egolatry of European and US critics that praised and rewarded Emilia Perez and their Audiard in particular. Here is the link for those who are curious. Keeping my mind free of nationalism, I must say that the arrogance of Emilia Perez and their PR's is just that, arrogance. It lacks a good script, the music is no better than musical parodies from bad sitcoms, and the performances suffer as a result of that, probably Saldana being the acceptable one, but far from deserving a Best Supporting (or Best Actress as other would argue) nomination. That being said, I didn't expect much from the politically correct Hollywood community; they wanted to put a transgender person on the spotlight, yet when said person turned out to be a piece of shit human being (there's no proof to the contrary, Gascon has always been an arrogant asshole, even before her gender reassignment), every other participant of this mockery of good cinema and of true representation and visibility has quickly try to save their own flesh. Pathethic.
  15. US-Mexican wrestlers and 2024 Olympians, Roman Bravo Young and Austin Klee Gomez, won bronze medals in -57kg & -70kg freetyle respectively, at Zagreb ranking series this week. Can't remember of another medal in an international event, other than Jr or U23 World Championships, for Mexican wrestlers, so this is good news.
  16. They should just have Mexico forfeit the next Games and go to division VIII B
  17. Unlike Mexican softball team, most of the ice hockey players are born in Mexico. However, since ice rinks are only found in posh municipalities and the cost of the gear/training, some of them have non spanish surnames, being descended from US and European immigrants, plus the odd born and raised in Mexico US citizen.
  18. I’ll give it a shot. But this time,I’m less informed regarding certain events.
  19. And we give 12 points to United States 12 Chile 11 Greece 10 Guatemala 9 Argentina 8 New Zealand 7 Lithuania 6 Great Britain 5 China 4 Denmark 3 Poland 2 Netherlands 1 And that completes the results of the votes from the Mexican National Jury. See you next time and have a great day!
  20. Mexico's 11 points go to Chile 11 Greece 10 Guatemala 9 Argentina 8 New Zealand 7 Lithuania 6 Great Britain 5 China 4 Denmark 3 Poland 2 Netherlands 1
