It breaks my heart that even if they managed to get the quota, their NOCS refuse to send the athletes I really pray for Canada's Olympic Committee to reconsider and send their best (and biggest) delegation possible. Otherwise I think they could end outside top 5.

Well it all started back in 2016, just weeks before the Olympics. At that time, Paola Pliego was reported to have failed a drug test made by the local authorities, so as the investigation continued, she was provisionally suspended and excluded from the Mexican delegation. Some time later, a German lab with WADA recognition analized the same sample and found nothing wrong with it. From then on, she has been vocal about being framed by our own federation because she belongs to a local association that does not support the current president (of the Mexican Fencing Federation, that is). This season she was often snubbed and unsupported at every World Cup in which she could have competed, but the real offense came in March when it was announced that she wasn't selected for the CAC Games, due to "formalities"; essentiality, she wasn't allowed to compete in the national selective, so of course she had no chance at all; furthermore, the Iberoamerican association of fencing added fuel by publicly stating their support for her and expelling Mexican Fencing Federation's president from that body. This only made him angrier and through political manipulation, he convinced the Olympic Committee and our corrupt sports arbitration tribunal to confirm Pliego's exclusion. So to sum it up, he's just being a complete douche, who is only trying to become rich by exploiting our fencers.

Wonderful results for Argentina so far, especially gold in men's individual epée. Meanwhile, Mexico's competing with an average team, some of our best being kept away by the childish and corrupt behaviour of our NF president, who especially has a feud against our best fencer in women's senior sabre (Paola Pliego) What a waste with so many years of continuous growth being hurt by one men's ambition of being president for life.

If I understood correctly, only the winners gained direct qualification: those are in women and in men. Mexican teams having finished in second will have to wait until all other tournaments finish to be completed and see if their ranking is enough to advance to next round. Correction @Vojthas, it seems the first two were given spots, after I found this article today.

And incredibly, Mexico men's team managed to tie with USA 5-5 ... it was a really intense game, which ended with a downpour included. It will all come to goal difference, with Mexico having a two goal advantage.

Day 3 of Diving World Cup, saw the women's 10m platform finals. No big surprises, only the Chinese were good, while the other had average scores, proved by the 54.70 difference between 2nd and 3rd place. First Event of World Hockey Series starts today in Salamanca, Mexico. It features 5 teams in both men's and women's competition, with Canada being favorite in the first and USA in the second one to advance to the next round. The only "contender" in both tournaments will be the host teams, although they will need some luck to join their rivals in the next stage. Personally, I would be happy if Mexican squads manage to concede 4 or less goals against the favorites and destroy the remaining opponents by at least that margin, in order for them to have some chance to qualify to 2019 Pan American Games.
