  1. Mexico lost 1-3 to Peru... last set was crazy, with a final score of 34-32
  2. Well I have no doubt that they tried as hard as they could; but this kind of problem has been common in the latest editions of the Games, mainly to sabotage each NOC main rival in the medal count. The only one that has not done so it's Mexico, because this is their only chance to showcase its talents in each sport and event.
  3. Official Mexican Delegation
  4. Mexican Olympic Committee confirmed that 14 events managed to get enough participants to be on the program again. Athletics (4): Men's Marathon, Men's 50km Race Walk, Women's 10,000m, Women's 3,000m Steeplechase Modern Pentathlon (2): Women's Relay & Mixed Relay Rowing (1): Women's Pair Taekwondo - Poomsae (1): Mixed Pairs Weightlifting (6): Men's 77kg Snatch, Men's 77kg Clean & Jerk, Women's 90kg Snatch, Women's 90 Clean & Jerk, Women's +90kg Snatch & Women's +90kg Clean & Jerk. I'm especially glad about Rowing, Pentathlon and Weightlifting; I couldn't care less about Poomsae, but what I will really miss is women's 20km,as our best athlete will miss the Games.

  6. Mexico is also sending a small delegation... however out of 6, 4 of them have good chances of qualifying to the final in their events, among them, Race Walk World Cup winner Alegna Gonzalez in 10km; she's going for another medal, against the same competitors she defeated in May. Let's see if she can produce another magnificent last kilometer
  7. Modern's pentathlon Mixed and Women's Relay are confirmed by the Mexican federation to be "rescued" and back in the Games program. Also, Marca Claro has already announcedin its FB page it will broadcast the Games. Let's hope they show most of the events.

  10. Paraguay, Cuba and the Bahamas are out of the competition. On the most relevant result (at least for me) Mexico defeated USA D-team 78-70. I'm impressed because Mexican team has been having the same coaching and federation problems, and just started training together under a new direction. I hope they can keep their momentum against Puerto Rico.
  11. Claro has livestream of major sport competitions, even if they don't take place in Mexico. But probably they will announce their coverage a week before the games.
  12. It is possible that the games will be streamed in Mexico by Claro Sports, but nothing is confirmed yet.
  13. So two games now: the one to determine Group G winner and the one to determine last ranked team.
  14. Paola Longoria , Women's Racquetball's #1 player for the past 7-8 years, could be sanctioned by WADA for not informing about her whereabouts Note (in Spanish) This could be huge and will have a big impact in our medal prospects for next year's PanAm Games I'm just praying that this is not another internal conspiracy by our National Federation, like the case against Paola Pliego in fencing.
  15. In case anyone is interested, today at 12:00 PM (GMT -5) Central American Games Flame Ceremony Torch Relay proper will begin Tuesday at San Andres Island, Colombia.
  16. Today it was announced that in total 34 events have been cancelled, due to lack of participation of at least 5 NOC's. This also means that Water Ski has been removed from the program. In many of those, Mexico and the hosts had good prospects to medal, and hasn't been uncommon in the past two editions that other countries (other than Mexico) have removed or not entered their athletes on purpose to hurt their main rivals chances. Anyway, here's the list of the events that were removed, althoughI'm missing one of the events, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Aquatics - Diving (2) Women's 3m Synchronized Springboard & Women's 10m Synchronized Platform. Athletics (5): Men's Marathon, Men's 50km Race Walk, Women's 10,000m, Women's 3,000m Steeplechase & Women's 20km Race Walk Canoeing (3): Women's K4 500m, Women's C1 200m & Women's C2 500m Cycling - Track (1): Women's Team Sprint Gymnastics- Rhythmic (1): Team Event Gymnastics- Trampoline (1): Women's Synchronized Modern Pentathlon (2): Women's Relay & Mixed Relay Roller Sports - Figure Inline Skating (1): Women's Individual Dance Rowing (1): Women's Pair Sailing (2): Women's Windsurf & Mixed Lightning Class Shooting (1): Mixed Trap Taekwondo - Poomsae (1): Mixed Pairs Water Skiing (6): Men's Figures, Men's Slalom, Men's Wakeboard, Women's Figures, Women's Slalom & Women's Wakeboard Weightlifting (6): Men's 77kg Snatch, Men's 77kg Clean & Jerk, Women's 90kg Snatch, Women's 90 Clean & Jerk, Women's +90kg Snatch & Women's +90kg Clean & Jerk.
  17. Exactly... Asian teams might not be the strongest, but they sure have shown better attitude and skills than many other teams. Anyone who believed Panama and Costa Rica to have a chance in this World Cup were just fooling themselves... they trailed Mexico in both points and style at CONCACAF's final group, so they could just wish for some luck to help them find a chance against stronger teams.
  18. Well, to be honest, they haven't been that impressive, just solid and well ordered (that's a surprise ), which has earned them a rather comfortable position going into game 3, against the weakest team of their group. That's why I consider Sweden stands a better chance against them, that they would against Brazil for example. Yet nothing is written in stone.
  19. Argentina chose to send a boy, as Mexican NOC confirmed a place in the girl's competition.
  20. Mexico back to it's inefective self The foul that originated the penalty was ridiculous and needless to say, changes in the attack came too late. Congrats to Sweden for advancing to a rather easy knock-out draw. On the other half, sad to see Germany go early, but Korea Republic played it's best game ever in a World Cup, with so much courage, so I think they deserved their win.
  21. 2nd day of finals. Just watched the early session, it seemed wind was not as yesterday, still far from optimum conditions. Results Men Individual Recurve Gold Medal Match: Mauro NESPOLI d. 23. First day finals of finals in Salt Lake City; let's say wind conditions were harsh and comentators mentioned at some point that archers shooting at one of the targets had a slight advantage as it was more covered. Here are the results: Men Individual Compound Gold Medal Match: Stephan HANSEN d. Abhishek VERMA 140-123 Bronze Medal Match: Anton BULAEV d. 24. Well, better for El Tri to work their way to lead the group.
  25. Your're right, they were playing awful during the last year... now they play decently, but still are prone to make costly mistakes in the last minutes.
