Rafa Maciel got a reaction from Josh in Sport Climbing IFSC World Championships 2023
Doesn't look like there were any major surprises in the qualification for Women's Lead although world numbers 12 -14 ( Eliska Adamovska, Ryu Nakagawa and Natalia Grossman) all finish just outside of the semi-final cut off

A couple of shocks in the qualifying so far
world number 8 Hannes Van Duysen wont progress after failing to zone on the first boulder - he's currently in 25th. Likewise, world number 11 Colin Duffy and number 15 Jan-Luca Posch of have both had a stinker of a day and are down in 45th and 57th respectively.

As far as I am aware, they all do the same 5 routes in qualifying and the results from the two groups are combined with the top 20 going through to semis. Probably going to need at least 2-3 tops and 5 zones to get through.

So even now, World Archery aren't in a position to confirm which teams will qualify for Paris - maybe nobody could find the wi-fi code so that they could check the qualification document online.

That's right - boulder qualifiers take place tomorrow evening after the Men's Lead competition.
Bursikova is drawn as 20th starter in group B so will probably be in the 2nd or 3rd hour of qualifying event.

To be honest, shouldn't be regarded as a surprise, they were up against who are 15 places higher in the world ranking and who qualified in 11th compared to GB's 22nd.

Pretty much worst possible result for women - by finishing in 9th place they would have to overcome in quarterfinals.
Bye-bye any chance of a quota here.

Connor Bentley is probably their next big hope - he was the Under 23 World Champion last year - although has been a bit underwhelming on the main tour this year, finishing outside the top 30 at European Games but he does have European Cup level wins in 2023.

Rafa Maciel got a reaction from Josh in Summer Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 Sports Programme
Multiple media outlets in UK reporting that T20 cricket is "very likely" to feature on the 2028 Olympic programme. With the format being a pool of 5 teams for both men and women.
Qualification would be based on world rankings so would include , , , and for men and , , , and for women (always assuming Scottish cricket don't raise any stupid objections) If they reserve spot for as home nation, then would lose out in both cases.
It looks like this is purely being driven by money - if cricket is included, the value of broadcast rights in India could increase to 10 times their current value - but it would eat up about 110 athlete quotas.
Given it has to be a pretty safe bet that baseball/softball is also going to return to the programme and that is going to require around 230 athlete quotas, it begs the questions, where do these 340 quotas come from?
Looking at the Paris quota breakdown, for the non-core sports (breaking, skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing), given USA will be expecting to medal in skateboarding and surfing, I can't see them being dropped. Likewise, I think sport climbing is becoming established in the programme so would be unlikely to be dropped. This means the only sport not likely to return in Los Angeles is breaking but that only frees up 36 quotas. Boxing, Weightlifting and Modern Pentathlon aren't officially on the schedule yet so you'd have to assume that the quotas will come from those 3 sports. Modern pentathlon probably joins breaking as a goner - freeing up another 72 quotas but that would still leave 200 short.
Losing 23 individual medal events to be replaced by 4 team medals would seem to be a bit extreme.

My views on Cricket in Olympics:
What irks me everytime Cricket comes up is the scorn of some of the users. Just because you don't like a sport doesn't mean the sport is boring. I mean people here give running commentary on 50km Walk and still find T20 long and boring? There have been literally users who have said Cricket doesn't even deserve to have a World Cup as it is not global enough. And at the same time, no one has a problem with sports which are played only in Europe + USA/Canada.
